The Verge is seeking an ambitious Supervising Producer to lead and elevate our long-running tech business show Decoder. This is a full-time, hybrid, production and management role based out of the Vox Media offices in New York City. It reports to our Editorial Director of Audio/Video.
The ideal candidate is an experienced video leader and creative storyteller with deep knowledge of, and passion for, Decoder’s coverage areas of business, entrepreneurship, and public policy as they intersect with tech. They will directly manage a team of staff producers and editors, plus freelance talent, in creating multi-platform, multi-format content across our video, audio, and social channels, plus adjacent special projects and sponsorship opportunities.
The Supervising Producer will help direct and carry out Decoder’s larger programing strategy, consistently elevating the show’s voice, reach, and visual aesthetic while managing deliverables and deadlines. About the Role:
A Photo Editor for The New York Times has a creative eye and an innovative approach to visual formats and mobile-focused presentations. You should bring thoughtful technical skills and journalistic judgment to join a team creating visual journalism—still and video— for breaking news, features and enterprise stories for on- and off-platform publishing.
The primary duties of the job are to conceptualize and assign photography and video for the New York Times' Washington D.C. report, and to select and publish images and video for multiple platforms of The New York Times. You will work across a range of beats covered by the bureau, including the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court, the intelligence agencies, national security, domestic policy, healthcare and other issues.
You will assign and research a wide array of news and feature photographs and video, working productively with staff photographers, freelance photographers, wire services, agencies and all other sources of pictures, as well as editors, designers, and reporters in the newsroom. You will engage our staff and freelance photographers to identify and develop pitches with strong visual potential, producing strong photographic, video and multimedia displays with an eye toward innovative digital story forms and presentations.
You have a strong demonstrable experience with multimedia, journalism and photography of all kinds and you have a comprehensive understanding of the DC bureau's coverage areas and how to effectively cover them in distinctive ways. You have a broad knowledge of the current photographic, video, visual and social media landscape, including digitally innovative formats and mobile-first multimedia presentations. You are a team player and and are adept at initiating and developing ideas for photographs, short video clips and visual stories in different formats.

The Digital News Design team is looking for a digitally focused art director and designer. You have experience in visual journalism and social media. Vox is looking for an innovative animator and motion designer to join Unexplainable, to help conceptualize and create a fresh visual look for Vox’s Unexplainable video podcast. Currently an audio-only podcast, this person will work closely with the Unexplainable team and Vox’s Art Director to develop a playful visual look and graphics package for the video version of the show, creating graphics and animations for each week’s episode.
They will have professional expertise using Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Strong editorial judgement, superb communication skills, impeccable organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail are critical for this role, as you will work closely with editorial leadership, video producers, and freelancers to elevate our storytelling through compelling design and motion graphics while maintaining Vox style and standards.
This person will be a self starter and creative thinker who wants to experiment with new storytelling formats. We want someone who’s not afraid to try new things and bring fresh ideas to the position.
