Roku runs one of the largest data lakes in the world. We store over 70 PB of data, run 10+M queries per month, scan over 100 PB of data per month.
Big Data team is the one responsible for building, running, and supporting the platform that makes this possible. We provide all the tools needed to acquire, generate, process, monitor, validate and access the data in the lake for both streaming data and batch. We are also responsible for generating the foundational data. The systems we provide include Scribe, Kafka, Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink, Pinot, and others. The team is actively involved in the Open Source, and we are planning to increase our engagement over time.
Roku is in the process of modernizing its Big Data Platform. We are working on defining the new architecture to improve user experience, minimize the cost and increase efficiency. Toast’s products run on a stack that ranges from guest and restaurant-facing Android tablets to backend services in Java to internal, guest-facing and restaurant-facing web apps. Our backend services follow a microservice architecture written using Java 8 and DropWizard; we use AWS extensively, ranging from S3 to RDS to Lambda. We have our own platform for dealing with user management, service elevations and robust load balancing. Toast stores data in a set of sharded Postgres databases and utilizes Apache Spark for large scale data workloads including query and batch processing. The front-end is built primarily using React and ES6. The main Toast POS application is an Android application written in Java and Kotlin. For data between tablets and our cloud platform we operate RabbitMQ clusters as well as direct tablet communication to the back end.

What will you do everyday?
You’ll create engaging product experiences on iOS/Android and services that delight and empower doctors with experiences that they could never imagine with their health IT systems. You have an equal grasp of iOS and Android native development expertise in Swift/Objective-C/Kotlin/Java. Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Mobile Application Developer who can build high-quality, scalable, and performance-optimized mobile applications. This role requires strong ownership, deep troubleshooting skills, and experience working across Android, iOS, and/or cross-platform technologies.
You will work on complex, real-world applications (not demo or tutorial-level apps) and collaborate closely with backend, firmware, and product teams.
