About Upstart
At Upstart, we’re united by a mission that matters: to radically reduce the cost and complexity of borrowing for all Americans. Every day, we bring creativity, experimentation, and advanced AI to reshape access to credit, helping millions move forward financially with clarity and confidence.
As the leading AI lending marketplace, we partner with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit through technology that’s both radically intelligent and deeply human. Our platform runs over one million predictions per borrower using more than 1,800 signals, powering smarter, fairer decisions for millions of customers. But the numbers only hint at the impact. Every idea, every voice, and every contribution moves us closer to a world where credit never stands between people and their financial progress.
We’re proudly digital-first, giving most Upstarters the flexibility to do their best work from wherever they thrive, alongside teammates across 80+ cities in the US and Canada. Digital-first doesn’t mean distant. We’re intentional about in-person connection through team onsites, planning sessions, and moments that spark creativity and trust. And whether you choose to work primarily from home or collaborate in-person from one of our offices in Columbus, Austin, the Bay Area, or New York City (opening Summer 2026), you’ll have the support to work in the way that works best for you.
If you’re energized by tackling meaningful problems, excited to innovate with purpose, and motivated by work that truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.
As a Senior Mobile Software Engineer on Upstart’s Cash Line team, you’ll build mobile experiences for a new consumer credit product that gives customers always-on access to a reusable line of credit they can draw from, repay, and use again in real time. You’ll use React Native to ship high-quality features that directly shape how customers discover, access, and manage Cash Line in the mobile app.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer who wants to own end-to-end feature delivery, make strong technical decisions, and help define the mobile experience for a foundational new business line at Upstart. You’ll work closely with product, design, backend, and cross-functional partners to build thoughtful, reliable experiences in a space where speed, correctness, and customer trust all matter.
The Cash Line team is building one of Upstart’s newest consumer products: a revolving credit experience designed to create a more durable, recurring relationship with customers beyond a one-time loan. As part of that work, the team is shaping the mobile experience for a product with broad visibility across the customer journey, from application and approval through ongoing account access and reuse.
We’re a fast-moving, highly cross-functional team working at the intersection of consumer product, real-time systems, and financial infrastructure. Our engineers partner closely with teams across product, growth, finance, compliance, and capital markets, and we value people who can combine strong product instincts with pragmatic execution in an ambiguous, high-impact environment.
Build and ship user-facing mobile features for Cash Line in React Native across iOS and Android as the product expands.
Design mobile components and systems that are scalable, maintainable, and reliable for a product that operates in real time and directly affects customers’ access to credit.
Partner closely with product, design, and backend engineers to scope, build, and launch experiences that balance customer needs, business goals, and technical quality.
Help define the mobile experience for a foundational new business line, contributing both to near-term feature delivery and longer-term platform direction.
Improve mobile developer velocity and product quality through better tooling, testing approaches, release practices, observability, and performance monitoring.
Work with backend partners to shape APIs and integration patterns that create smooth, resilient client-server experiences.
Identify and resolve performance, usability, and reliability issues in the mobile product, with a strong focus on long-term maintainability.
Contribute to engineering quality through code review, system design discussions, technical planning, and mentorship across the team.
Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote, San Mateo, Columbus, Austin
Time Zone Requirements - This team operates across all U.S. time zones.
Travel Requirements - This team has regular on-site collaboration sessions. These occur 3 days per quarter at an Upstart office. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.

That means caring deeply about outcomes, understanding context, and jumping in wherever something’s broken, even if it’s technically “not your area.” When we see problems, inefficiencies, or opportunities to make something better, we act. We dig into operational issues, clarify fuzzy product specs, or step into unfamiliar code to help unblock teammates.
We move as fast as possible. Speed matters. It lets us try things quickly, get feedback early, and course-correct while it’s cheap. So we write small PRs. We aim for MVPs. We leave TODOs and file follow-ups. We don’t over-perfect v1. That said, we’re building a financial product. Some things—like money movement, correctness, or security—deserve more caution.
We like boring technology. We favor tools that are reliable, well-understood, and easy to debug. This keeps us focused on solving meaningful problems instead of wrestling with unpredictable infrastructure. If a new technology helps us move faster, build safer, or solve a real need, we’ll consider it. But we don’t adopt tools just because they’re new—we adopt them because they’re right.
Simplicity is a strategy. It lets us focus our energy where it matters most: serving our users.

The Core Services team manages the core infrastructure and API stack and builds high throughput microservices that powers Roblox. These services need to be fast, reliable and highly scalable as they have a huge impact on the day-to-day experience of every Roblox user. In addition, the team owns shared libraries, infrastructure microservices, and the web infrastructure used by all other Roblox full-stack feature teams. We ship with testable and configurable features that allow for rapid experimentation, data collection, and optimize for performance and user engagement. From serving basic user information to populating content into in-experience. Core Services is integral to the Roblox experience.
As a Senior Software Engineer within the team, you will own and drive the development and management of core infrastructure, API stack, and microservices. These components are essential for supporting a range of services and platforms within Roblox, including our studio environment. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of tooling and frameworks for full-stack teams. You will get the chance to take ownership of high RPS (requests per second) services, contribute to the re-architecture of systems to accommodate our company's growth, and collaborate with a diverse set of teams including Infra and the product teams within Roblox, leading initiatives, and making a significant impact across the company.
Here are a few quick highlights of how we power Roblox:
Microservices - we manage 50+ microservices, the most of any Roblox full-stack engineering team. These services are crucial to run Roblox. They sit right at the heart of the connection between product and infrastructure. Our services peak at over 10M RPS, the highest load of any Roblox full-stack engineering team. Scalability and reliability of these services is important to keep the product alive.
Orchestration at Planetary Scale – Core Services is building Roblox’s next-generation, in-house multi-cluster orchestration platform that spans global regions and manages hundreds of thousands of containers. This system operates across DCs, cloud regions, and edge sites. If you've ever wanted to design the control plane at globe scale where every millisecond matters, and where rollouts, autoscaling, and failover need to work flawlessly across continents, this is that challenge.
Content Delivery - Be part of the team responsible for serving millions of assets per second that makes the on-demand experiences of millions of players possible as Roblox continues to break world player count records. Authentication, encryption, compression, global delivery with low millisecond response times serving over 10’s of millions of deliveries per second at peak is what the platform demands. Join us while we prepare for the next magnitude of growth.

Developer Monetization is the economic engine of Roblox and owns the systems responsible for over 70% of platform revenue. We build the in-engine and Studio infrastructure that lets millions of creators monetize their work and that powers how hundreds of millions of users discover and purchase virtual goods across the world's largest virtual economy.
We're building the next generation of that economy, including systems that understand how players interact with the world in real time, boosting our capability to optimize the economy to better support our community.
