About Upstart
At Upstart, we’re united by a mission that matters: to radically reduce the cost and complexity of borrowing for all Americans. Every day, we bring creativity, experimentation, and advanced AI to reshape access to credit, helping millions move forward financially with clarity and confidence.
As the leading AI lending marketplace, we partner with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit through technology that’s both radically intelligent and deeply human. Our platform runs over one million predictions per borrower using more than 1,800 signals, powering smarter, fairer decisions for millions of customers. But the numbers only hint at the impact. Every idea, every voice, and every contribution moves us closer to a world where credit never stands between people and their financial progress.
We’re proudly digital-first, giving most Upstarters the flexibility to do their best work from wherever they thrive, alongside teammates across 80+ cities in the US and Canada. Digital-first doesn’t mean distant. We’re intentional about in-person connection through team onsites, planning sessions, and moments that spark creativity and trust. And whether you choose to work primarily from home or collaborate in-person from one of our offices in Columbus, Austin, the Bay Area, or New York City (opening Summer 2026), you’ll have the support to work in the way that works best for you.
If you’re energized by tackling meaningful problems, excited to innovate with purpose, and motivated by work that truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.
The Team
The Machine Learning Platform team builds the foundational technology that scales machine learning innovation across Upstart. As a Principal Machine Learning Engineer, you will work at the intersection of applied ML and platform engineering—collaborating closely with Research Scientists, Data Scientists, and ML Platform Engineers to design tools and systems that accelerate model development to ultimately improve predictive accuracy. Success in this role requires deep knowledge of ML throughout the entire modeling lifecycle - from data preparation to training and deployment to production.
In this role, you will lead engineering initiatives that turn high-impact modeling needs into scalable, reusable infrastructure. This includes building a unified embeddings platform for training, serving, and managing representations at scale; streamlining feature engineering pipelines to reduce manual steps and deliver new signals quickly; developing automated continuous-learning systems that handle data refresh, retraining, evaluation, and drift monitoring with minimal manual effort; and scaling our training pipelines to support larger datasets, more complex architectures, and faster experimentation.
Across all of these efforts, you will work backward from applied ML projects that meaningfully improve accuracy—using those real-world scenarios to harden the platform capabilities that enable ML teams across Upstart to innovate with greater speed, reliability, and impact.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Your work will multiply the effectiveness of every ML team at Upstart—accelerating innovation and advancing our mission to make credit more accurate, accessible, and fair.
This is a high influence role suited for those who enjoy combining science innovation, with cross functional collaboration and advisory.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
In addition, Upstart provides employees with target bonuses, equity compensation, and generous benefits packages (including medical, dental, vision, and 401k).

Founded in 2017, Trust & Will is the leading digital estate planning platform, trusted by over one million users. We provide modern, accessible solutions to help families protect their legacies with attorney-approved, legally valid documents tailored to individual state requirements. Our seamless online platform simplifies the estate planning and settlement process, empowering individuals to create wills and trusts while also partnering with financial advisors, attorneys, and institutions to make legacy planning more inclusive and affordable.
If you are passionate about contributing to a high-impact mission and want to work in a collaborative environment where your skills and expertise will be valued, we would love to hear from you!
We're looking for a Senior Product & Growth Analyst to own the analytical engine behind Trust & Will's growth. This is a high-ownership role: you'll work across product, marketing, and revenue to understand what's driving conversion, retention, and lifetime value and you'll translate those findings into decisions that move the business.
This is not a reporting role. You will define the questions worth asking, build the models that answer them, run experiments to test the hypotheses, and guide the roadmap based on what the data shows. You'll partner closely with the Director of Data Engineering, product managers, and growth leadership and you'll have direct access to senior stakeholders.
The core challenge is analytically interesting: estate planning is a low-frequency, high-intent product with a B2C direct channel and a growing B2B2C advisor network. Understanding how different user segments activate, convert, and retain and which levers compound requires real analytical depth.
You'll have the data, the infrastructure, and the mandate to figure it out.

You get energy when you see someone on your team crack a problem they couldn’t have solved six months ago because you helped them get there. You care about technical rigor, but you care even more about outcomes. You know that a well-scoped project with clear success criteria will beat a brilliant but ambiguous one every time. And you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and lead the hard modeling work yourself when the situation calls for it.
At Fixify, we’re building an AI-native IT automation platform where data science sits at the center of the product, not bolted on. Our models run in production. Our experiments drive real decisions. And the team’s work directly shapes how customers experience Fixify. As a Data Science Manager, you’ll own both the development of the team and the quality of its output — ensuring research translates into reliable, production-ready systems that Product, Engineering, and Customer Success depend on.
This is a player-coach role. You’ll lead and grow a team of data scientists while staying close to complex research, modeling and experimental design. You’ll set the standards for how work gets done — from experimentation practices to model handoff — and you’ll be the person who unblocks the team when things stall. If you want to build a team that ships with confidence and grows while doing it, this is the role.

About Mission Lane:
Founded in December 2018, Mission Lane is a purpose-driven fintech company based in the U.S., with headquarters in Richmond, Virginia.
It all started with a realization: nearly fifty percent of the adult population in the U.S. doesn’t have access to a clear line of credit. Most traditional credit card companies either overlook or overcharge this group because they have less-than-perfect credit scores or no scores at all. We decided this just wouldn’t do.
In partnership with our sponsor banks, we offer credit cards under the Mission Lane brand name, with better, clearer terms, and a more refined customer experience than the alternatives available to people working hard to improve their credit. To date, over four million consumers have chosen Mission Lane, earning high customer ratings on Credit Karma for its market segment and industry leading Net Promoter scores.
Mission Lane has cumulatively raised over $600 million of equity from leading investors, including Invus Opportunities, QED Investors, LL Funds, funds affiliated with Oaktree Capital Management, and other leading investors.
Our commitment to a workplace built on respect and dignity is guided by our core value of Unity. We believe that everyone plays a vital role in our shared purpose, and we actively cultivate an environment where all individuals have the opportunity to do their best work. By fostering a culture of empathy and collaboration, we create a strong sense of belonging and support for every team member.
