Thinking Machines Lab's mission is to empower humanity through advancing collaborative general intelligence. We're building a future where everyone has access to the knowledge and tools to make AI work for their unique needs and goals.
We are scientists, engineers, and builders who’ve created some of the most widely used AI products, including ChatGPT and Character.ai, open-weights models like Mistral, as well as popular open source projects like PyTorch, OpenAI Gym, Fairseq, and Segment Anything.
The role of pre-training researchers sits at the core of our roadmap. This work advances the science of how large models learn from data. You’ll explore new pre-training methods, architectures, and learning objectives that make model training efficient, robust, and aligned with human goals.
This role blends fundamental research and practical engineering, as we do not distinguish between the two roles internally. You will be expected to write high-performance code and read technical reports. It’s an excellent fit for someone who enjoys both deep theoretical exploration and hands-on experimentation, and who wants to shape the foundations of how AI learns.
Note: This is an "evergreen role" that we keep open on an on-going basis to express interest in this research area. We receive many applications, and there may not always be an immediate role that aligns perfectly with your experience and skills. Still, we encourage you to apply. We continuously review applications and reach out to applicants as new opportunities open. You are welcome to reapply if you get more experience, but please avoid applying more than once every 6 months. You may also find that we put up postings for singular roles for separate, project or team specific needs. In those cases, you're welcome to apply directly in addition to an evergreen role.
Minimum qualifications:
Preferred qualifications — we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all preferred qualifications, but at least some:
As set forth in Thinking Machines' Equal Employment Opportunity policy, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected group status under any applicable law.

We’re building a talent-dense, high-agency research team to develop the next generation of learning systems and reasoning algorithms for agentic LLMs. Our work sits at the intersection of large language models, post-training, and scientific reasoning, with the goal of enabling systems that learn from experience, reason effectively, and improve through interaction.
Scientific domains present a distinct set of challenges that make this problem uniquely hard. Feedback is sparse and delayed — experiments take days or weeks, not milliseconds. Ground truth is expensive or contested. Distribution shift is structural, as instruments, techniques, and knowledge bases evolve continuously. The hypothesis space is vast and reward signal is thin. Existing benchmark do not capture these nuances. The goal is to build systems that can operate effectively in this scientific regime.
This role spans a few complementary directions. Candidates are expected to bring deep expertise in one (ore more) of the following areas. In the event of cross-track expertise, please select the one you align to the most. Our interview process will be catered to verifying the chosen expertise area.
Expertise Area 1 — Agentic system building
Focus: Build systems that autonomously propose, execute, and verify scientific hypotheses over long time horizons.
Expertise Area 2: Distillation
Focus: Translate strong inference-time behaviors and reasoning traces into efficient, trainable models.
Expertise Area 3 — Scalable experience generation
Focus: Develop inference-time algorithms and synthetic data pipelines that generate high-quality training signal for scientific reasoning.
What you’ll need to succeed:
Bonus points for:
Scientific rigor & persistence:
Compensation
We offer competitive base compensation with bonus potential and generous early-stage equity. Your final offer will reflect your background, expertise, and expected impact.
U.S. Benefits. Full-time U.S. employees receive a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, and vision coverage; employer-paid life and disability insurance; flexible time off with generous company wide holidays; paid parental leave; an educational assistance program; commuter benefits, including bike share memberships for office based employees; and a company subsidized lunch program.
International Benefits. Full-time employees outside the U.S. receive a comprehensive benefits program tailored to their region. USD salary ranges apply only to U.S.-based positions; international salaries are set to local market.

The AI Research team is tackling one of the most exciting, open problems in AI: training LLMs to run long-horizon scientific discovery tasks. Our approach spans the full post-training stack - from SFT to asynchronous RL on agentic harnesses - teaching models to plan, use tools, and learn from experience in domains where the ground truth isn't a preference label, but a scientific result.
We're rapidly growing our Research Engineering org and seeking talented engineers and ML practitioners across levels to design, build, and optimize systems to push this frontier: scaling post-training, sharpening reasoning, and unlocking compute-intensive agentic-harness training. This is a rare chance to join an early team with the autonomy, flexibility, and compute to tackle frontier science problems.
We operate with high agency, and a bias toward execution. Below are several focus areas within the team. We ask that candidates select the stream that best matches their experience and excitement.
Work Streams
Stream A: GPU Optimization & Training Performance
Maximize hardware utilization across 100B+ parameter asynchronous RL training runs. Responsibilities include profiling, performance optimization, custom kernel development, communication-computation overlap, and long-context throughput improvements. You set and maintain the performance baseline.
Stream B: Stack & Infrastructure
Own the post-training infrastructure end-to-end — supervised fine-tuning, asynchronous RL with tool integration, and data pipelines. Build modular, reproducible workflows with single-command execution. Manage upstream framework upgrades and deliver composable pipelines spanning Data, SFT, and RL stages. You work tightly with Research Scientists to develop and productionize novel algorithms to run at scale.
Stream C: Model Experimentation
Bring deep, hands-on experience training large language models. Lead experimentation on reasoning model development, including mixture-of-experts stabilization, curriculum design, and synthetic reasoning trace generation. You have a bias toward experimental design and tracking, and know how to prioritize runs that yield promising outcomes.
Stream D: Evaluations & Benchmarks
Design and build best-in-class scientific agentic benchmarks and harnesses, along with the dashboards and leaderboards that inform every training decision. You have experience working with well known public benchmarks and have spent time building bespoke agentic benchmarks and harnesses.
Stream E: Agentic Capabilities & Frontier Research
Train models capable of planning, exploration, and tool use over extended horizons. Advance the state of the art in RL at scale with tool-calling, subgoal decomposition, and shared memory/skills across trials to expand the frontier of scientific agent capabilities.
What You'll Need to Succeed

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
Anthropic is looking for a Technical Enablement Lead to curate & deliver the technical curriculum that lets our go-to-market teams, partner, and customers demonstrate and support Claude Code with confidence. You'll own Claude Code enablement—building demos, labs, and content that help sellers showcase agentic coding. This is an ideal role for an engineer who loves teaching, loves developer tools, and wants to shape how field teams talk about the future of AI-assisted development.
Deliver Claude Code training for onboarding and ongoing enablement programs
Create and maintain training content: demo scripts, hands-on labs, use case libraries, quick-reference guides
Build compelling demo scenarios across industries and developer personas
Develop competitive positioning content—battlecards, differentiation guides, objection handling
Run demo coaching sessions and weekly office hours
Translate new Claude Code features into field-ready content rapidly
Gather field feedback and track content effectiveness to continuously improve programs
7+ years in a technical role (software engineering, solutions engineering, developer advocacy, or technical enablement)
Strong programming skills—you've shipped real code recently, not just slideware
You use AI coding tools (ideally Claude Code) extensively in your own work—not as a novelty, but as core infrastructure for how you build and ship
Track record delivering live technical training or talks
Experience partnering directly with sales, solutions engineering, or GTM teams
Experience coaching others on demos or presentations
Familiarity with enterprise developer workflows
Public speaking, conference presentations, or community-facing developer advocacy
Location & Travel
Location is flexible, with preference for proximity to a major hub (SF, NYC, DC, or Seattle). Regular travel is expected for in-person training delivery and field events.
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings.
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. Position Summary:
Seeking a driven and motivated engineer to join our sales team focusing on growing business with existing customers and developing new business. This position will involve applications engineering, sales support and field service work. Sales Engineers should be comfortable working in a result-driven, fast-paced environment.
Position will involve extensive formalized training plus work under a mentor, developing skills and gaining an understanding of CaptiveAire products, how we go to market, application engineering processes etc. as well as business development and sales strategies.
Why Work for CaptiveAire?
What our employees have to say:
There is never a day you don’t learn something new at CaptiveAire. I am able to learn something new due to the freedom to take on new tasks independently and problem solve.
I love the mindset of continuous learning and pushing the bounds of your capabilities and knowledge. I love the people I work with and the in-office work environment. I love how Captiveaire is all about connections, with customers, coworkers, end users, and everyone in between.
One of the things I appreciate most about CaptiveAire is how strongly it embodies the entrepreneurial spirit. I’m empowered with the autonomy to manage my work independently, while also benefiting from the robust support and resources of a large, well-established company.
CaptiveAire is fast-moving and no-nonsense. We operate differently than any other company that I've worked for with our decentralized structure. Quick action is taken when a good idea is presented. We are focused on end users where the rest of the industry is very short-sighted. We are on the front lines, actively changing the landscape of the HVAC industry.

A Day in the Life:
A technical sales role encompasses a wide variety of tasks where one day does not look exactly like the next. The projects our team handles are high in volume and unique from one another, spanning throughout the whole course of design, procurement, coordination, and post-sale support.
Typical tasks include:
Two to three full days per week in the office working on bids, one to two days on job sites, and dedicate another day to developing the territory. Territory development may include giving presentations to the engineering community, visiting new customers, or expanding contacts with an existing account.
Comments from some of our sales engineers:
Every day I get to help someone. Whether it's an engineer with a design, a contractor with a troubleshooting issue, or an end user looking for help to obtain better indoor air quality. I get to use my engineering skills, people skills and business skills every day.
Our main "role" is not to sell products but to provide solutions - kitchen ventilation solutions, commercial ventilation solutions, heating/air conditioning solutions. I enjoy getting to work directly with end users and helping them complete their business goals. Attending a soft opening after completing a full design-build project with an owner is rewarding.
I love the balance between working on designs in the office and also having that face to face interaction with our customers. It's awesome to handle the design phase of a project, then also take charge of the procurement process with the end user/customer and lastly watch our equipment perform as designed once installed and the project is complete. Harness is the AI Software Delivery Platform company, led by technologist and entrepreneur Jyoti Bansal (founder of AppDynamics, acquired by Cisco for $3.7B). Harness has raised approximately $570M in funding and is valued at $5.5B, backed by leading investors including Goldman Sachs, Menlo Ventures, IVP, Unusual Ventures, Citi Ventures, and more. As AI accelerates code creation, the real bottleneck has shifted to everything after the code – testing, deployments, application security, reliability, compliance, and cost optimization. Harness brings AI and automation to this “outer loop,” helping teams ship software faster while maintaining security and governance throughout the entire software delivery lifecycle.
Powered by Harness AI and the Software Delivery Knowledge Graph, the Harness Platform applies deep context and intelligent automation across the software delivery lifecycle with governance and policy-driven controls embedded throughout the platform.
Over the past year, Harness powered over 185M deployments, 82M builds, 18T flag evaluations, 8M security scans, 9.1B optimized tests, 3T protected API calls, and helped manage $2.8B in cloud spend — enabling customers like United Airlines, Morningstar, and Choice Hotels to accelerate releases by up to 75%, reduce cloud costs by up to 60%, and achieve 10x DevOps efficiency.
With a global team across 26 offices and 25 countries, Harness is shaping the future of AI software delivery — and we’re looking for exceptional talent to help us move even faster.
Harness is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Revenue Enablement Director to be the bridge between our complex technical product suite and our core go-to-market (GTM) execution.
You believe that great training doesn’t happen in a single bootcamp moment — it compounds over time. At Harness, you’ll own the full arc of how our sellers develop: from the energy of a live training session to the quiet, structural work of building reinforcement programs that show up in rep behavior weeks and months later. You bring presence in a room, instinct for curriculum design, and the organizational savvy to drive impact without always having direct authority.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex or national origin.
Note on Fraudulent Recruiting/Offers
We have become aware that there may be fraudulent recruiting attempts being made by people posing as representatives of Harness. These scams may involve fake job postings, unsolicited emails, or messages claiming to be from our recruiters or hiring managers.
Please note, we do not ask for sensitive or financial information via chat, text, or social media, and any email communications will come from the domain @harness.io. Additionally, Harness will never ask for any payment, fee to be paid, or purchases to be made by a job applicant. All applicants are encouraged to apply directly to our open jobs via our website. Interviews are generally conducted via Zoom video conference unless the candidate requests other accommodations.
If you believe that you have been the target of an interview/offer scam by someone posing as a representative of Harness, please do not provide any personal or financial information and contact us immediately at security@harness.io. You can also find additional information about this type of scam and report any fraudulent employment offers via the Federal Trade Commission’s website (https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/job-scams), or you can contact your local law enforcement agency.

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
We are looking for a strong operator to serve as the operational backbone of Anthropic's Economic Research team. Your overarching mandate is twofold: 1) “clear the brush” so our researchers can efficiently execute on key research priorities, and 2) ensure research aspirations and findings translate into concrete policy and commercial outcomes. In practice this means you will be the person who keeps the team's operating rhythm tight, synthesizes information so leadership can make good decisions quickly, and represents the team in cross-functional settings when researchers are heads-down.
Delivering on these mandates will require strong operational rigor, a broad understanding of Policy, Research, and Communications ecosystems, and a knack for forming effective partnerships both within and outside of Anthropic.
Drive execution on the team’s research initiatives, e.g., economic index releases, economic briefs and working papers, agents research, Clio observability analyses, Anthropic interviewer deployments. This will involve a lot of information gathering and reporting while researchers are “out in the wilderness”
Work backward from business deadlines to set research deadlines/milestones and plan out team capacity
Ensure smooth operating cadence and relationship touchpoints with our research ecosystem (e.g., academic collaborators, commissioned research vendors, research grantees, advisory councils)
Partner with colleagues on Research, Public Policy, Communications, and GTM to organize briefings and campaigns that amplify key research findings
Support the team lead in setting quarterly research priorities and resource allocation; draft monthly updates to the Policy org and broader company
Help the team effectively grow and onboard by supporting with recruitment, onboarding, and team integration, as needed (e.g., filtering resumes, revamping onboarding materials, planning team offsites)
Create and manage Economic Research engagement calendars to ensure strategic alignment with our policy objectives and optimal use of leadership time. Support researcher engagements at high-touch events and summits
Maintain key information repositories that compile and organize our research results
Have a 5+ year track record managing and delivering on business-critical, cross-functional initiatives
Have ability to quickly gain state on technical domains and “know enough” to be effective, without being a subject matter expert
Are skilled at navigating organizational complexity, building relationships, and influencing without authority
Can “see around corners” and anticipate needs when supporting leaders in executing their vision, and ensuring they have the necessary resources and information to succeed
Are highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining a high attention to detail
Are passionate about the intersection of frontier AI development, economic research, and policy frameworks
Build a living tracker for critical research workstreams (e.g., economic index releases, economic briefs, Anthropic Interviewer) and use it as the source of truth for last steps / next steps on p0 team projects
Manage contracting and vendor relationships for commissioned research projects, including scoping proposals, coordinating with Legal and Procurement, and tracking deliverables through the research pipeline
Coordinate cross-functional alignment for a major academic research partnership (e.g., an RCT studying AI adoption in firms), ensuring the right stakeholders across GTM, Product, Policy, and Comms are involved and aligned on scope, data access, and publication strategy
Work backward from a policy campaign or research publication deadline to organize research milestones and deliverables (i.e., coordinating an Economic Index release with our Comms team)
Support operations for research grantmaking programs, including managing application review processes, coordinating with grant recipients on contracting, and tracking disbursement and reporting timelines
Work across the Policy org, Communications, and with executive teams to organize and plan Research presence at key external events and convenings — for example, agenda, objectives, scheduling, and logistics for an Economic Index campaign or research showcase
Build Economic Research onboarding documentation and curriculum to support team growth; better surface key artifacts and content (as is allowable) to the broader company, for those who are interested in keeping up-to-date with Research progress
Are you a passionate Developer Advocate at heart? Someone who loves bringing the community together, hosting and speaking at events, and diving deep into application development and developer experience?
As a Databricks Developer Advocate on the Neon DevRel team, you’ll serve as a key link between our engineering teams and the growing community of application and agent developers building on Postgres and Neon. You’ll use your technical expertise to help maintain and extend our SDKs, educate and inspire our users, and shape the future of Agent and Developer Experience (AX & DX) for Neon.
Developer experience will be at the core of your role. You’ll help maintain our TypeScript SDK and CLI, Neon’s MCP server, and other developer-facing tools — with a strong focus on staying ahead of the AI curve. You’ll share your expertise in DevTools and AX through talks, meetups, blog posts, videos, and community engagement. Your work will empower both agents and developers to build more effectively with Neon, while showcasing our commitment to world-class DX and AX.
You’ll collaborate closely with the neon.com community, as well as product and engineering teams, ensuring developer feedback directly informs product direction. You’ll also partner with fellow advocates, program managers, and the broader Databricks DevRel organization to deliver a cohesive and impactful agent experience strategy.
The ideal candidate embodies the values of our DevRel team: deep passion for application development, strong empathy for developer needs, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
In this role, you’ll educate and grow the Neon community through high-quality technical content and hands-on experiences — while continuously feeding insights back into the product to elevate the developer experience even further.
Neon is Databricks’ product-led growth Serverless Postgres and BaaS platform, built with the vision of helping developers ship faster. Delivering on this mission depends on building trust and recognition within a growing community of application developers, while also serving the broader Databricks user base.
The neon.com DevRel team at Databricks is focused on building and strengthening relationships with agent and application developers, while also expanding its reach into areas like code generation and AI-driven development. Our primary goal is to drive awareness, enablement, and driving community of the neon.com platform through a product-led growth motion.

Radical Numerics is an AI lab bringing the rigor of distributed systems, model architecture, and numerics research to the challenges of biology. We are building the infrastructure needed to unlock scaling on vast biological sequence, structure, and image datasets so that biological world models become a reality. Our team introduced hybrid architectures for million-token context windows, enabling work toward AI-designed whole genomes and gene-editing tools.
We believe the next generation of biological foundation models will require not only new and improved pretraining recipes, but also innovation on post-training: the work that turns a powerful base model into a system that is useful, steerable, robust, and scientifically productive. This role sits at that interface between fundamental research and practical engineering.
As a Member of Technical Staff, Post-Training at Radical Numerics, you will develop the training and evaluation loops that shape biological world models after pretraining. You will work on the methods, data, and infrastructure required to improve model behavior on real scientific tasks: reasoning over long biological context, following complex objectives, making useful predictions, and interacting reliably with downstream tools and workflows.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to both build systems and deepen understanding. You should be excited to run careful experiments, question whether the metrics reflect reality, and translate empirical findings into better recipes, datasets, and productively used models.

Our team introduced hybrid architectures that unlocked million-token context windows, enabling work toward AI-designed whole genomes and real gene-editing tools.

This role is focused on that core scientific agenda.
As a Member of Technical Staff, Pre-Training Science at Radical Numerics, you will work on the science of how biological world models learn during large-scale training. You will develop new pretraining methods, study scaling behavior, and design training recipes that improve efficiency, generalization, and downstream scientific usefulness.
This role blends research and engineering. You should be excited to move fluidly between theory and implementation: reading technical literature, proposing new hypotheses, running large-scale experiments, and writing high-performance code that turns ideas into measurable progress.
