POSITION OVERVIEW

The 10th Grade Mentor Program Assistant plays a critical role in managing the data and operations for our summer mentor recruitment efforts. Key responsibilities include coordinating interview schedules between SEO staff and applicants, maintaining accurate records of application and interview data, and following up with both new and returning mentor candidates as required. The primary objective is to ensure efficient handling of the high volume of applications and interviews during the summer period.

The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, a proactive member of the team, and adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously. A meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality mentorship for underserved high school students are essential. Additionally, the 11th Grade Mentor Program Assistant will lead both in-person and virtual information sessions to enhance recruitment efforts through partner organizations.

Mentor Interview Scheduling and Coordination 

• Manage the entire process of scheduling interviews for new mentor applicants. Responsibilities include inviting eligible applicants, tracking interview statuses, and sending reminders. 
• Ensure the interview booking system is accurately set up for each SEO staff member. Regularly confirm with staff interviewers to ensure that interviews are conducted as planned. 

Mentor Application and Interview Data Management 

• Manage and oversee the tracking systems for new mentor applications using Monday.com. Responsibilities include exporting data from the online mentoring portal, organizing it to analyze applicant trends, and screening for interview eligibility. 
• Follow up with applicants to correct errors or complete missing onboarding information. 
• Provide regular updates to the entire mentor team with summaries and trends from application and interview data. 

General Mentor Recruitment & Retention Support 

• Conduct follow-up communications with attendees of SEO mentoring information sessions, which include collecting email addresses, sending follow-up emails, phone calls, texts, and tracking applicant numbers from partners. 
• Carry out other related duties as needed to support the mentorship program.

Scholar Deliverables & Compliance 

• Manage and oversee the tracking systems for new mentee applications using Together.com and Monday.com. 
• Follow up with scholars to complete deliverables needed to be SEO Mentor Program compliant. 
• Provide regular updates to the entire mentor team with summaries and trends from application and interview data. 
• Other tasks as needed related to the Mentor Program 

QUALIFICATIONS 

• High school diploma required.
• SEO staff experience preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Associate Instructors will join SEO’s community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college prep curriculum for motivated and driven high school students. Associate Instructors co-teach alongside Instructors to facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini lessons, organize small group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support. Associate Instructors are the first to cover when there is an instructor absence and do not have grading responsibilities. Associate Instructors co-teach ELA and Advisory which includes two courses– Identity & Empowerment and Level All– for 10th or 11th grade Scholars in New York City.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruction & Facilitation
• Co-teach three to four periods including ELA and Advisory. 
• When asked to cover for another instructor, lead the class on your own. 
• Follow provided lesson plans and meet lesson objectives, abiding by SEO’s articulated criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement. 

Navigate Instructional TechnologiesLearn and efficiently utilize our instructional technologies such as  Brightspace (Learning Management System), Nearpod,  GSuit applications, and Zoom chat (instant messaging tool) in a Blended Learning environment.Content PreparationRead, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials provided by SEO prior to teaching.Implement thoughtful adjustments to pacing and activities based on specific student needs. 

• Tutoring and Academic Support
• Host open-door lunch tutoring sessions with Scholars who want to come in and review skills learned from class, makeup missed work or lessons, or develop new skills. 
• Classroom Culture
• Maintain responsive & restorative approaches to promote students’ connection to the content, investment in the learning experience, and positive relationship to all members of the community.
• Collaboration with SEO Staff and Instructors
• Attend all scheduled meetings, professional development trainings, check-ins, and debriefs and respond to all emails and Zoom chats in a timely manner.
• Responsiveness to Coaching and Feedback
• Meet with your assigned instructional coach (Lead Instructor) at least twice during the semester to receive and implement feedback and recommendations from their classroom observations.  

Courses:

Associate Instructors will be placed in either 10th or 11th Grade. The English Language Arts (ELA) courses offered this semester are:

• 10th Grade course: Journey into Fiction 
• In this unit, scholars read a variety of short fiction with the goal of diving deeper into their meanings. Scholars will hone their ability to identify and analyze themes, break down character development, and interpret figurative language. They will also spend time diving into vocabulary skills and learning how to cite sources using MLA style. During the second half of the unit, they will compose a literary analysis essay that explores a short story’s theme and analyzes its development. 
• 11th Grade course: Writing for Social Change
• Historically, writing has been a way to create both personal and social change. In this unit, scholars will learn how writing can influence social change by reading, analyzing, and writing op-eds. Traditionally known as “opposite the editorial page,” op-eds are a form of opinion writing used to inspire change. Scholars will read and analyze how writers have used evidence and rhetorical strategies to make their arguments persuasive. Then, scholars will choose something they would like to change within their community and develop their own op-ed supported by research. 

ELA Associate Instructors also teach Advisory, a course designed to support scholars’ academic and social success. ELA Associate Instructors will teach two Advisory courses: Identity & Empowerment (IE) and Level All.

• Identity & Empowerment (IE) focuses on helping scholars explore their identities, understand systems that shape their experiences, and build the self-awareness and confidence needed to navigate school and society.
• Level All is SEO’s college and career readiness partner. Through our partnership with Level All, scholars receive curriculum, tools, and resources to help them navigate high school, college planning, career exploration, financial literacy, and other essential life skills.

Based on ELA Associate Instructors’ grade placements, they will teach the following Advisory course: 

• 10th Grade– The Power of My Academic Identity & Level All
• 11th Grade– Identity and Motivation & Level All 

Sites: 

Summer Academy takes place at one of our partner sites through the semester where the Associate Instructor will be placed based on the grade level they are assigned:

• 10th Grade: Baruch College, (Vertical Campus Building, 55 Lexington Ave., New York).
• 11th Grade: LIU Brooklyn, (1 University Plaza, Brooklyn).

Occasionally, Orientations and/or Friday Professional Development for all grade assignments will be held at the SEO Office at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY (Financial District).

• On-Site Kick-Off: Monday, 6/29

QUALIFICATIONS  

Required:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in content related field.
• Teaching certification, K-12 classroom teaching experience, and/or experience teaching at the college or university level.
• The use of a reliable personal laptop. Seasonal instructors must have access to their own device that meets basic technology requirements to carry out all instructional and administrative duties.
• Experience working with high school-aged students.
• Comfortable with navigating technological learning systems.
• Expertise and depth of knowledge in advanced high school-level English and Humanities subjects.
• Eagerness to engage in conversations analyzing the historical and continued causes of societal ills and challenges.

Preferred: 

• Understanding and practice of student-centered pedagogy.
• Knowledge and experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
• Certifications, PD course completions, and/or tertiary education in Instructional Technologies.

Key Dates:

• Self-guided Asynchronous Instructor Training: New instructional staff will complete Asynchronous Training that equates to 10 hours of work. This can be completed on your own time and will be completed prior to the start of programming.
• Instructor Orientation: 6/16 on Zoom
• Synchronous Online Instruction: 7/1-7/30

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Instructors will join SEO’s community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college-prep curriculum for motivated and driven high school Scholars. Using our original curriculum and a student-centered approach to teaching and learning, instructors play an integral part in supporting our Scholars’ journey to a competitive college and beyond. In addition, instructors promote depth of understanding and skill acquisition by serving as a coach and facilitator of learning.

Courses:

SEO North Carolina is a bichronous program for Scholars with lesson instruction is held 100% online, facilitated through Zoom. 

Instructors will be placed depending on their self-reported proficiency and demo lesson. The courses offered this semester are:

• 10th Grade: Journey Into Fiction
• 11th Grade: Writing for Social Change

Key Dates:

• Self-guided Asynchronous Instructor Training: New instructional staff will complete Asynchronous Training that equates to 10 hours of work. This can be completed on your own time and will be completed prior to the start of programming.
• Instructor Orientation: 6/16 on Zoom
• Synchronous Online Instruction: 7/1-7/30

QUALIFICATIONS  

Required:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in content related field.
• Teaching certification, K-12 classroom teaching experience, and/or experience teaching at the college or university level.
• The use of a reliable personal laptop. Seasonal instructors must have access to their own device that meets basic technology requirements to carry out all instructional and administrative duties.
• Experience working with high school-aged students.
• Comfortable with navigating technological learning systems.
• Expertise and depth of knowledge in advanced high school-level English and Humanities subjects.
• Eagerness to engage in conversations analyzing the historical and continued causes of societal ills and challenges.

Preferred: 

• Understanding and practice of student-centered pedagogy.

• Teach three to four periods of ELA and/or Advisory. 
• Follow provided lesson plans and meet lesson objectives, abiding by SEO’s articulated criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement. 
• Navigate Instructional Technologies
• Learn and efficiently utilize our instructional technologies such as Brightspace (Learning Management System), GSuit applications, and Zoom chat (instant messaging tool) in a Blended Learning environment. 
• Content Preparation
• Read, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials provided by SEO prior to teaching. 
• Implement thoughtful adjustments to pacing and activities based on specific student needs.
• Grading and Record-Keeping
• Calculate grades according to rubrics and stipulations in provided lesson plans. Provide actionable, growth-oriented feedback to students. 
• Complete all grading in a timely manner (1 week turnaround) and keep the electronic gradebook up to date on Brightspace (our LMS).
• Classroom Culture
• Maintain responsive & restorative approaches to promote students’ connection to the content, investment in the learning experience, and positive relationship to all members of the community.

Courses:

Instructors will be placed in either 10th or 11th Grade. The English Language Arts (ELA) courses offered this semester are:

10th Grade course: Journey into Fiction 

• In this unit, scholars read a variety of short fiction with the goal of diving deeper into their meanings. Scholars will hone their ability to identify and analyze themes, break down character development, and interpret figurative language. They will also spend time diving into vocabulary skills and learning how to cite sources using MLA style. During the second half of the unit, they will compose a literary analysis essay that explores a short story’s theme and analyzes its development. 

11th Grade course: Writing for Social Change

• Historically, writing has been a way to create both personal and social change. In this unit, scholars will learn how writing can influence social change by reading, analyzing, and writing op-eds. Traditionally known as “opposite the editorial page,” op-eds are a form of opinion writing used to inspire change. Scholars will read and analyze how writers have used evidence and rhetorical strategies to make their arguments persuasive. Then, scholars will choose something they would like to change within their community and develop their own op-ed supported by research. 

ELA instructors also teach Advisory, a course designed to support scholars’ academic and social success. ELA instructors will teach two Advisory courses: Identity & Empowerment (IE) and Level All.

• Identity & Empowerment (IE) focuses on helping scholars explore their identities, understand systems that shape their experiences, and build the self-awareness and confidence needed to navigate school and society.
• Level All is SEO’s college and career readiness partner. Through our partnership with Level All, scholars receive curriculum, tools, and resources to help them navigate high school, college planning, career exploration, financial literacy, and other essential life skills.

Based on ELA Instructors’ grade placements, they will teach the following Advisory course: 

• 10th Grade– The Power of My Academic Identity & Level All
• 11th Grade– Identity and Motivation & Level All 

Sites: 

Summer Academy takes place at one of our partner sites through the semester where the Instructor will be placed based on the grade level they are assigned:

• 10th Grade: Baruch College, (Vertical Campus Building, 55 Lexington Ave., New York).
• 11th Grade: LIU Brooklyn, (1 University Plaza, Brooklyn).

Occasionally, Orientations and/or Friday Professional Development for all grade assignments will be held at the SEO Office at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY (Financial District).

Associates co-teach alongside Instructors to facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini lessons, organize small group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support. Associate Instructors do not have grading responsibilities.

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Associate Instructors will join SEO’s community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college prep curriculum for motivated and driven high school students. Associate Instructors co-teach alongside Instructors to facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini lessons, organize small group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support. Associate Instructors are the first to cover when there is an instructor absence and do not have grading responsibilities. Associate Instructors co-teach Math for 10th or 11th grade Scholars in New York City.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruction & Facilitation
• Co-teach three to four periods of Math. 
• When asked to cover for another instructor, lead the class on your own. 
• Follow provided lesson plans and meet lesson objectives, abiding by SEO’s articulated criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement. 

Navigate Instructional TechnologiesLearn and efficiently utilize our instructional technologies such as  Brightspace (Learning Management System), Nearpod,  GSuit applications, and Zoom chat (instant messaging tool) in a Blended Learning environment.Content PreparationRead, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials provided by SEO prior to teaching.Implement thoughtful adjustments to pacing and activities based on specific student needs. 

• Tutoring and Academic Support
• Host open-door lunch tutoring sessions with Scholars who want to come in and review skills learned from class, makeup missed work or lessons, or develop new skills. 
• Classroom Culture
• Maintain responsive & restorative approaches to promote students’ connection to the content, investment in the learning experience, and positive relationship to all members of the community.
• Collaboration with SEO Staff and Instructors
• Attend all scheduled meetings, professional development trainings, check-ins, and debriefs and respond to all emails and Zoom chats in a timely manner.
• Responsiveness to Coaching and Feedback
• Meet with your assigned instructional coach (Lead Instructor) at least twice during the semester to receive and implement feedback and recommendations from their classroom observations.  

Courses:

Associate Instructors will be placed in either 10th or 11th Grade. The math courses offered this semester are:

• 10th Math: Graphs & Relationships
• In the Graphs and Relationships course, students use completing the square to discover the quadratic formula and build on the concept of percent change to explore exponential growth. Instructors are expected to articulate these connections. 
• Skills include: linear, quadratic, and exponential functions (including compound growth formula); algebraic representation of functions; graphing functions and identifying key characteristics; modeling real-world situations with functions
• 11th Math: Precalculus
• In the Precalculus course, students are introduced to the derivative through their knowledge of limits. Instructors are expected to understand this connection and be able to discuss the derivative as a limiting process.
• Skills include: unit analysis; function notation, including function composition and inverse functions; characteristics of graphs; transformations of graphs; average rate of change; introduction to limits; introduction to the derivative and the power rule

Sites: 

Summer Academy takes place at one of our partner sites through the semester where the Associate Instructor will be placed based on the grade level they are assigned:

• 10th Grade: Baruch College, (Vertical Campus Building, 55 Lexington Ave., New York).
• 11th Grade: LIU Brooklyn, (1 University Plaza, Brooklyn).

Occasionally, Orientations and/or Friday Professional Development for all grade assignments will be held at the SEO Office at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY (Financial District).

• Experience working with high school-aged students.
• Comfortable with navigating technological learning systems.
• Expertise and depth of knowledge in advanced high school-level Mathematics (Algebra & Precalculus).

Courses:

Instructors will be placed in either 10th or 11th Grade. The math courses offered this semester are:

• 10th Math: Graphs & Relationships
• In the Graphs and Relationships course, students use completing the square to discover the quadratic formula and build on the concept of percent change to explore exponential growth. Instructors are expected to articulate these connections. 
• Skills include: linear, quadratic, and exponential functions (including compound growth formula); algebraic representation of functions; graphing functions and identifying key characteristics; modeling real-world situations with functions
• 11th Math: Precalculus
• In the Precalculus course, students are introduced to the derivative through their knowledge of limits. Instructors are expected to understand this connection and be able to discuss the derivative as a limiting process.
• Skills include: unit analysis; function notation, including function composition and inverse functions; characteristics of graphs; transformations of graphs; average rate of change; introduction to limits; introduction to the derivative and the power rule

Associate Instructors will join SEO’s community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college prep curriculum for motivated and driven high school students. Associate Instructors co-teach alongside Instructors to facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini lessons, organize small group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support. Associate Instructors are the first to cover when there is an instructor absence and do not have grading responsibilities. Associate Instructors provide support and coverage for both Bootcamp Writing and Advisory courses and have a full-day schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruction & Facilitation – Provide support and/or co-teach 3 to 4 periods including Writing and Advisory. When asked to cover for another instructor, lead the class on your own. Follow provided lesson plans and meet lesson objectives, abiding by SEO’s articulated criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement. 

Navigate Instructional Technologies – Learn and efficiently utilize our instructional technologies such as  Brightspace (Learning Management System), Nearpod,  GSuite applications, and Zoom chat (instant messaging tool) in a Blended Learning environment.Content Preparation – Read, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials provided by SEO prior to teaching. Implement thoughtful adjustments to pacing and activities based on specific student needs. 

• Academic Support- Host open-door support sessions with Scholars who want to come in and review skills learned from class, make up missed work or lessons, or develop new skills. 
• Classroom Culture – Maintain responsive & restorative approaches to promote students’ connection to the content, investment in the learning experience, and positive relationship to all members of the community.
• Collaboration with SEO Staff and Instructors – Attend all scheduled meetings, professional development trainings, check-ins, and debriefs and respond to all emails and Zoom chats in a timely manner.

Courses:

Bootcamp (Summer) is an intensive 2-week program with a focus on college admissions for 12th grade Scholars. Associate Instructors will support both Writing and Advisory courses for 12th Grade Bootcamp:

• Writing course: College Application Writing Part I
• In this unit, Scholars will review previous college essay writing, learn more about the ins and outs of college essays and college level writing, and generate new material.They will solidify which personal statement they are moving forward with (a previous one or a new one), draft and revise it significantly, write a new supplement and collect supplement prompts, and create a plan for fall application essays. At the end of the course, they will share their strategy for completing writing in the fall semester in a brief presentation.
• Advisory course: Bootcamp Advisory
• Bootcamp is both a bridge between Scholars and the Fall semester and a launch pad for the college application season. In this unit, Scholars will learn more about the most crucial parts of the college research and application process so they can start finalizing their college list based on schools that are social, academic, and financial matches. They will complete 90% of the Common Application, make a list of at least 12 schools to apply to, and make a decision of what early pathway to take in the college process.

POSITION OVERVIEW

College Persistence Advisors (CPAs) adhere to the College Scholars advising model in working directly in support of College Scholars’ success in college. CPAs support Scholars in three general buckets of support: personal, academic, and career. CPAs are responsible for building relationships and catering their support to each Scholar specifically as needed and desired. CPAs also lead or support the Scholars Program, College in running workshops and programming for Scholars. Topics vary from career development, academic strategies, to infinity focused support groups. In addition to the direct student work, CPAs are expected to manage a variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to: documentation of advising sessions and outreach, tracking Scholar document submissions, looking at data to analyze engagement trends, and noticing trends across school clusters.

Direct Student Management (80%)

• Manage and engage one-on-one a cohort of ~70 Scholars remotely and in person, ensuring that each Scholar has equitable support.
• Advise Scholars in college preparedness, academic support, personal support, and career development support throughout their time in college.
• Provide case management services for Scholars who need support with basic needs.
• Apply the College Scholars Advising model in the direct work with students, implementing intentional use of skills and tools that uphold our pillars or advising.
• Reinforce and discuss linkages and relationships between Scholars’ instructional program and their desired occupation/career.
• Assess for Scholars’ well-being and safety as needed.
• Foster rapport with students through consistent and non-judgmental communication in advising sessions, as well as through proactive identification of supports that address the unique needs of first-generation and low-income students.
• Maintain student confidentiality.

Indirect Student Management (10%)

• Advocate for students with universities and other stakeholders.
• Maintain, collect, and report student data on an ongoing basis, such as degree audits, resumes transcripts and financial aid completion for purposes of reporting, institutional research, and institutional effectiveness.
• Assess engagement of the assigned cohort to ensure that outreach efforts and re-engagement strategies are implemented when needed.
• Document student case notes promptly and accurately into Salesforce database.
• Utilize Salesforce systems, as necessary, to aid in the delivery and reporting of advising services.
• Foster rapport with students through consistent and non-judgmental communication of outreach efforts as well as through proactive identification of supports that address the unique needs of first-generation and low-income students.

Scholar Programming (10%)

• Actively participate in the College Scholar’s CPA Professional Development Plan.
• Engage in internal professional development opportunities around student support through on-going and regular feedback and coaching for continued growth.
• Contribute to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all training and being prepared to act.
• Facilitate and co-facilitate programming workshops designed to increase student success in college and the high school to college transition.
• Participate in or attend occasional evening and weekend work are required, dependent on program needs.
• Support program initiatives that contribute to College Scholar success, usually in the second year.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree required, strongly preferred in Social Work, Higher Education, School Counseling, or a related field from an accredited university.
• 2–3 years of graduate-level field placement and/or professional experience in education or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience supporting students in a school-based setting, preferably in an academic advising, counseling, or student success capacity with high school and/or college students. 

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

• Demonstrates unequivocal passion for closing the opportunity gap and driving and inspiring student achievement.
• Understanding of the unique needs of first-generation and low-income students. 
• Experience and knowledge of the California higher education and California financial aid landscape strongly preferred.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager, Teaching & Learning (T&L) Operations & Hiring is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of instructors for all SEO sites. The position also includes coordinating and maintaining the operations for SEO High School Scholars, New York. 

Instructional Staff Hiring & Onboarding 

• Lead the full-cycle hiring process for instructional staff for all SEO sites, from candidate screening to selection and offer management.
• In collaboration with the People & Culture team, develop and manage clear, repeatable hiring processes, including standardized interview protocols, candidate scoring systems, and communication timelines to ensure an equitable and efficient selection process.
• In collaboration with the People & Culture team and Recruitment and Admissions teams for all SEO sites, maintain a pipeline of high-quality instructor candidates through targeted recruitment strategies, designing recruitment materials and communication, networking, and partnerships with relevant organizations and institutions.
• In collaboration with Managers of New York City, San Francisco, North Carolina, and Miami, create and maintain systems to organize candidate data to support instructor placements. 
• Design and implement a structured onboarding program in New York City for instructors that covers both instructional expectations and operational procedures.
• Track and evaluate onboarding effectiveness through surveys, retention data, and performance metrics, using insights to refine processes

Operations & Logistics 

• Partner closely with Operations and Program staff in New York City to coordinate scheduling, classroom assignments, supply distribution, and other logistical needs to ensure smooth program delivery during weekday, Saturday, and summer programming.
• Lead, manage, and support a Teaching and Learning Associate in overseeing operational workflows for instructional staff, including attendance tracking, coverage planning, compliance measures, gradebook audits, and communication of site procedures. 
• Utilize technology and process improvements to streamline scheduling, communication, and curriculum delivery.
• Review and approve New York City instructors’ timecard submissions
• Manage all workflows associated with New York’s core academic program, including coordination of instructional materials, classroom setups, and compliance with organizational procedures.
• Coordinate with relevant teams in New York City to ensure instructors have all necessary resources, technology access, and classroom assignments prior to their first day.
• Serve as Site Lead for Weekday Afterschool programming in New York City, overseeing both instructional quality and day-to-day site operations.
• Maintain external partnerships to support program growth and operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in education or a related field preferred.
• 3–4 years of teaching experience at the middle or high school level, with a strong focus on student advising, college readiness, and/or college admissions support.
• 1–2 years of experience managing or supporting school-based operational systems (e.g., scheduling, data tracking, student information systems).

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Instructors will join SEO’s community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college-prep curriculum for motivated and driven high school Scholars. Using our original curriculum and a student-centered approach to teaching and learning, instructors play an integral part in supporting our Scholars’ journey to a competitive college and beyond. In addition, instructors promote depth of understanding and skill acquisition by serving as a coach and facilitator of learning.

Courses:

SEO Miami is a bichronous program for Scholars with lesson instruction is held 100% online, facilitated through Zoom. 

Instructors will be placed depending on their self-reported proficiency and demo lesson. The courses offered this semester are:

• 11th Grade: Identity and Motivation

Key Dates:

QUALIFICATIONS  

Required:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in content related field.
• Teaching certification, K-12 classroom teaching experience, and/or experience teaching at the college or university level.
• The use of a reliable personal laptop. Seasonal instructors must have access to their own device that meets basic technology requirements to carry out all instructional and administrative duties.
• Experience working with high school-aged students.
• Comfortable with navigating technological learning systems.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Site Assistant support in the execution of SEO Scholars’ Summer Academy operations including technology maintenance and troubleshooting.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Site Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our technology-driven educational environment. Your responsibilities will include:

• Executing morning set-up for Saturday Academy, including check-in materials and program supplies.
• Facilitating the scholar check-in process, including efficiently utilizing attendance tracking systems to accurately record and report student attendance, absences, and tardies.
• Overseeing distribution of breakfast, snacks, and lunches for all scholars.
• Managing the distribution of technology (laptops, headphones, hotspots, etc.) to students and instructors, maintaining accurate records of permanent and/or borrowed devices and other SEO owned equipment.
• Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving Chromebook issues reported by students, promptly ensuring optimal functionality and reporting to SEO IT if devices are not meeting that expectation.
• Providing technical support for on-site A/V equipment (projectors, sound systems, and related components) used by instructors, ensuring classrooms operate smoothly without technical challenges.
• Overseeing program site cleanliness and maintenance. 
• Supporting end-of-day closing procedures, including moving program materials to storage, and replenishing snacks and supplies.
• Contributing to the overall production of program operations by executing general program support, including delivering materials to classes, providing technology support, and executing other necessary errands. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: 

• Excellent organizational skills, detail orientation, and ability to multitask and handle changing priorities.
• Sound judgment, maturity, and ability to communicate and serve as a role model to high school students.
