We don’t need another strong engineer who can build things. We need a recognised authority who can decide what should be built, why, and how — someone who sets the technical strategy for our entire web presence and is accountable for the outcomes.

This is a Principal-level individual contributor role (IC5). You’ll make architectural decisions, define engineering standards, influence senior leadership, manage external partners, and shape how the organisation thinks about digital web experience as a growth lever. The Role

As the Global Events Manager, you are the lead producer of Aiven’s physical and virtual brand experience. You don't just book booths; you architect high-impact environments that cut through the noise of the industry. You are a master of high-velocity project management, capable of juggling a diverse portfolio from large 3rd party conferences (AWS re:Invent, Kafka Summit) to intimate 1st party Aiven-hosted events (Customer Advisory Boards, User Roadshows, Annual Sales Kick-off). We are looking for a high-agency, creative powerhouse who will dive deep into Aiven’s value proposition and personas to ensure every event is perfectly aligned with our audience. You are a natural brand ambassador, as comfortable managing a construction vendor as you are welcoming a CTO to our lounge.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of Aiven’s global event portfolio, encompassing 3rd party industry trade shows and 1st party proprietary programs.
• Own the "Aiven Experience" for our internal and external 1st party events, including Customer Advisory Boards (CABs), Aiven’s User Conference, localized Community Roadshows and our Annual Employee Kick-off.
• Go beyond the logistics. You will study our core personas (Developers, Architects, CTOs) and our internal culture to ensure every event, from a technical user conference to an internal summit, is tailored to the specific audience.
• Develop out-of-the-box concepts that make Aiven the most talked-about brand on-site. You aren't afraid to take risks to ensure our physical presence reflects our status as a market leader.
• Lead end-to-end execution for multiple concurrent events globally. You are the source of truth for timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring zero loss in quality under pressure.
• Act as a proactive host on the event floor. You will learn Aiven’s high-level value prop to comfortably engage prospects, qualify their interest, and facilitate seamless introductions to our technical and sales teams.
• Direct a network of global vendors and boutique agencies with high standards. You ensure every asset, from a sticker to a 40x40 booth, is Aiven Gold Standard.
• Partner with Revenue Marketing and Ops to ensure every event has clear, measurable goals. Set performance targets, own lead capture, and deliver impact reports that quantify ROI, pipeline influence, or customer expansion to guide future investment decisions.

Ideal Candidate:

• 6+ years in tech event management. Proven experience running both large-scale trade show presences and high-touch proprietary events (User Conferences/SKOs).
• Proven ability to track and report on funnel impact. You are comfortable analyzing ROI and making evidence based recommendations on where to invest the event budget.
• Obsessive attention to detail. You have a "one-inch-off-is-wrong" mentality, spotting small errors in seating charts or booth graphics before they become problems.
• You thrive in fast-paced environments and are a power user of project management tools and processes to keep multiple plates spinning.
• A track record of thinking laterally to solve problems and create unique, un-missable experiences.
• High agency and problem solving. On-site, you are the person who makes it happen, finding solutions to the impossible while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn a technical product’s value proposition and speak confidently about it at a high level.
• Willingness to travel. Ready to be on the ground globally (30-40%) to lead from the front.

Smartly is looking for a (Senior) Manager, Data Platform to lead the next stage of our data platform evolution. This role will lead two complementary squads - Data Engineering & Data Analytics - under one shared vision, while keeping each squad’s mission and operating model distinct.

The focus is on building the foundations of Smartly’s data platform, strengthening data engineering practices, and modelling. You will help make trusted, scalable, and self-serve data a reality across the company, while staying close enough to the work to set the bar for quality, insight, and execution.

In this role, you will

• Lead both squads, aligning them around a common data platform vision while preserving their distinct responsibilities and ways of working.
• Own the development and evolution of the data platform, including data warehouses, pipelines, transformation layers, data models, semantic foundations, and core reporting assets.
• Drive the platform toward stronger engineering excellence, with a focus on automation, governance, data contracts, lineage, observability, alerting, reliability, and scalable platform operations.

• Coach and grow the teams across modelling, validation, testing, communication, and business understanding.

What we are looking for

• Strong technical foundations in data engineering, data warehousing, data modelling, and analytics.
• Experience building or scaling a modern data platform in a product, SaaS, or similarly data-intensive environment.
• Ability to credibly lead discussions on topics such as data pipelines, warehouse design, modelling, reliability, governance, and real-time or near-real-time data flows.
• Track record of leading cross-functional or multidisciplinary teams, ideally spanning both platform and analytics work.
• Strong product and business orientation, with the ability to translate ambiguous needs into scalable data solutions and clear priorities.
• Hands-on experience with modern data tooling and ways of working; familiarity with tools such as BigQuery, dbt, orchestration frameworks, semantic layers, and observability tooling is a strong plus.

We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join team Aqueduct, a team building our data platform for powering large-scale cross-platform advertising. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned professional who has experience in designing, implementing and managing data platforms and pipelines that are scalable, reliable and efficient.

For our customers, ensuring their data is available and composable can:

• unlock the potential of creative automation with image and video templates
• power agentic workflows that utilise the data
• allow analysis of the relationship between product data and ad performance.

Being able to sync our customers’ product data across multiple advertising channels consistently and with minimal delays ensures that:

• the ads consumers see have the latest information
• products that are out of stock are not advertised
• regulatory requirements are met

The team currently has a backend written in Ruby on Rails, and we own small parts of the frontend written in TypeScript and React. We’re moving our data systems from Ruby to a language and architecture better suited for the workload and capable of scaling with our growth. We're looking for an expert to lead the build and design of this new platform using the right tools for the job.

Projects you get to work with

• Design and build a large scale data storage and processing system that needs to process billions of records per day
• Drive the long term architecture and engineering excellence inside the team by coaching and mentoring other engineers
• Collaborate with stakeholders from across the organization: engineering, product and business
• Define and monitor SLAs, and follow SRE best practices to ensure the stability and availability of the system
• Build APIs for internal and external consumers of the data

What We Are Looking For

• 8+ years of industry experience
• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Scala and/or Java)

We are looking for a Head of Public Policy to shape the regulatory and institutional landscape around European sovereign cloud infrastructure and lead Aiven’s company-wide policy work. Your mission is to influence how ‘sovereign cloud’ is defined in European policy, ensuring that sovereignty means more than data residency. In practice you will be creating the narrative and forming the landscape for a new category around truly sovereign and open-source cloud infrastructure.

Policy Strategy & Ownership

• Define and execute Aiven's public policy strategy centred on true European sovereignty and open-source 
• Ensure this strategy is tightly integrated with Aiven's roadmap and commercial objectives

Create the True Sovereign Cloud category

• Push the open-source sovereignty narrative into new audiences like government decision makers, universities, and the next generation of public sector technology leaders to build long-term category ownership
• Position Aiven as a credible and trusted voice in European cloud sovereignty and AI infrastructure policy through exceptional thought leadership

Government & Institutional Relationships

• Engage with EU institutions, national governments, and standards bodies to advocate for sovereign cloud definitions that prioritise European ownership, control and open-source principles 
• Build trusted, long-term relationships with senior government officials and institutional stakeholders

Policy Intelligence & Strategic Action

• Track certification timelines, procurement frameworks, budget signals, and political developments across European markets
• Translate these into actionable intelligence that enables Aiven to engage earlier and more effectively than competitors

Cross-functional Partnership

• Partner with marketing to ensure policy positions feed into public narrative and thought leadership
• Partner with product and engineering to ensure Aiven’s offering meets evolving certification and compliance requirements
• Engage directly with early design-partner customers in regulated industries to validate requirements and understand the customer needs first hand

What We're Looking For

You have deep experience working at the intersection of technology policy, government relations, and European regulation. You understand how EU policy gets made not just in theory, but through direct involvement in shaping frameworks, certification schemes, or procurement standards. You have existing relationships with senior government officials, EU institution stakeholders or defence and security procurement leaders.

You understand cloud infrastructure and open-source technology well enough to engage credibly with both policymakers and engineering teams. You have excellent taste and conviction on why open-source and European-controlled infrastructure matters and the seniority to turn that into simple narratives for a minister, a procurement officer, or a room full of policy advisors.

You have true passion to create an European category king in the cloud market, thrive in ambiguity and move fast without waiting for permission.

CVX Venture Scout Programme

Do you have a passion for sourcing investments and making a difference for growth companies? Introduction

The CVX Venture Scout Programme is building a network of highly talented VC scouts, to assist us in sourcing attractive investment opportunities, in their specialist fields. You will learn and develop some of the most important skills required to be in VC, and meet with some of the most interesting and entrepreneurial founders in your market, and help shape the future.

As part of your role as a CVX Venture Scout, the Investment Team will look to you to identify exciting startups, speak with them and conduct research on them, including their teams, markets, and competition. Based on your findings, you will write a 1-2 page proposal memo summarising your investment thesis, and may be asked to present it in-person or online to the CVX Investment Team.

Expectations

We aim to use our Venture Scout Programme not only to discover exceptional investment opportunities but also to gain a deeper understanding of you and your vision. If you are interested in joining the CVX Investment Team, this is an excellent first step towards not only gaining an introduction to the VC ecosystem and learning essential VC skills, but also demonstrating how you think about investments, analyse them, and present your insights to us. As we grow our Investment Team, the Venture Scout Programme will be the first pool of resource we look to hire from.

What We're Looking For:

You are a principal-level engineer with the ability to operate in an early product environment like a founder. You have built and shipped complex infrastructure products like cloud platforms, managed database services or developer tooling. You know what it takes to go from a blank canvas to paying customers in a short timeline.

You have deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure and open-source technologies. You have excellent taste and conviction on how modern cloud infrastructure should be built, and the technical seniority to turn that into simple narratives. We tackle complex challenges to ensure secure authentication, flexible authorization, and an efficient Billing Engine for our leading SaaS platform. • User Identity and Access Management, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).

• Architect, design, and document new features and system enhancements, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability for our complex, distributed systems.
• Apply professional software engineering practices, including the selection, design, and implementation of various architectural and design patterns.
• Translate architectural designs into maintainable, robust, high-quality code primarily using NodeJS and TypeScript.
• Develop and maintain APIs for consumption by other backend services or frontend code.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including product management, infrastructure, and support functions.

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, architecting, and building robust, complex, and distributed web applications, where system-level design was a core responsibility. Writing code is not enough; we need proven expertise in system thinking.
• Demonstrable professionalism in knowing how to design, document, and implement different architectural and design patterns.
• Strong backend development skills with NodeJS & TypeScript with a good understanding of frontend technologies (React).
• Bonus points for knowledge about different IAM-related solutions/technologies (such as Auth0, OAuth, OpenID & SAML, Google Zanzibar).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proactive attitude and a passion for taking initiative.
• Ability to work hybridly, spending at least 3 days a week in our Helsinki office.
