As a Capital Credit Manager, Underwriting and Portfolio Management, you will be a core member of Flexport Capital’s credit team, managing a large book of 40–60+ accounts spanning SMB, mid-market and enterprise borrowers. You will independently underwrite IF, LF, Term Loan and ABL deals. You will help drive the management of distressed credits and workouts, design policies and SOPs for new products, as well as architect the analytical frameworks that drive portfolio monitoring. This is a hands-on role where you own the full credit lifecycle, from underwriting through ongoing portfolio monitoring and client communication. You’ll help drive process improvements, and contribute to our risk scoring model development, all while building deeper expertise in Flexport’s freight, fulfillment and customs operations.
• Own a Large, Complex Portfolio: Manage 40–60+ accounts with topline revenues up to ~$75M and credit limits up to $5M. You will handle accounts across the CRR spectrum, including credits showing early signs of distress that require proactive intervention and creative deal restructuring.
• Underwrite Deals Independently: Handle IF/LF, Term Loan and ABL underwriting end- to-end. Design covenants, milestone-based step-ups, and restructure proposed deals to match credit’s risk appetite.
• Resolve Complex Credit Problems: Interpret ambiguous financials, seasonal revenue swings, multi-entity structures, improving-but-weak trajectories, and exercise judgment in recommending policy exceptions with clear risk/reward framing. Identify when a deal structure won’t work and reconstruct it proactively before it reaches the Investment Committee.
• Lead Client Diligence & Communication: Run diligence calls with CFOs and controllers of SMB and smaller mid-market companies. Push back on BD submissions with data and facts. Present credit recommendations to the Investment Committee with guidance from the Head of Credit. Own the end-to-end credit relationship with your clients.
• Drive Process Improvements: Develop systematic improvements to credit operations —redesigning BD and UW workflows to reduce friction, establishing lien filing optimization, and creating monitoring spot-check systems. Lead projects beyond individual account management that make the entire team more effective.
• Contribute to Credit Analytics & CRR Development: Contribute to CRR model development including financial ratio calibration and risk weight tuning. Design and maintain portfolio monitoring dashboards, and help build automations for repetitive credit operations.
• Manage Compliance & Lien Operations: Independently manage UCC filings, amendments, and lien perfection across US and international jurisdictions. Lead quarterly lien audit and security review processes. Ensure portfolio-wide compliance with BlackRock facility covenants and eligibility criteria, and drive expansion of secured coverage.
• 5–7 years of experience in commercial lending, credit risk, or portfolio management. Trade finance, working capital, or inventory financing experience is highly preferred.
• Independent Underwriting Capability: You can independently underwrite IF/LF and Term Loan facilities end-to-end. You understand advance rates, covenant design, borrowing base fundamentals, lien priority, and UCC filing procedures. Proficiency in ABL fundamentals is a strong plus.
• Credit Judgment & Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to interpret ambiguous financials, recommend policy exceptions with clear risk/reward framing, and proactively restructure deals that don’t make credit sense. You don’t just flag problems—you come with solutions.
• CRR & Risk Model Awareness: You understand why automated credit risk rating outputs sometimes diverge from qualitative reality and can propose specific recalibration adjustments such as financial ratio breakdowns and chart tuning.
• Client-Facing Confidence: Comfortable leading diligence calls with CFOs and controllers, pushing back on BD submissions with data, and presenting credit recommendations to the Investment Committee.
• Technical & Analytical Skills: SQL proficiency (complex queries, analytical views). Python for analysis scripts, financial modeling, and portfolio reporting is a strong plus. Experience with Looker, GSheets dashboards, or automation tools (Parabola, Airtable, n8n) preferred.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Proven ability to guide junior analysts on credit approach and technical questions. You are a team player who makes colleagues better and can coordinate effectively with Legal, BD, and Operations.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. MBA, CFA, or FRM is a plus.

Flexport is building the future of global fulfillment—and we’re looking for a Sr. Manager, Strategic Initiatives who wants to be at the center of that transformation. This is not a traditional management role. You will be the architect of tomorrow’s Flexport Fulfillment network: designing processes, building products, and creating the standards that will define how we operate at scale.
You’ll sit at the intersection of operations, product, and technology, working across all functions to identify gaps, design solutions, and bring them to life. We want someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves solving highly technical problems, and isn’t afraid to get hands-on—whether it’s building a new workflow in SQL, prototyping a tool, or architecting the next phase of our operating model.
If you want to make a lasting impact by building something from the ground up—and have the technical, operational, and strategic chops to do it—this is the role for you.
Architect the Future of Fulfillment
Build, Not Just Manage
Leverage Data for Strategic Planning
Be a Cross-Functional Force Multiplier
Standardize the Network
Drive Strategic Initiatives at Scale
This role is one of the most independent, entrepreneurial, and impactful within Flexport Fulfillment. Your fingerprints will be on everything from the technology we use to the services we offer.
You’ll have the mandate to experiment, prototype, and standardize at scale—and the support of a leadership team that knows the success of this role will shape the future of Flexport Fulfillment.

About Take Command
Take Command is a start-up on a mission to improve the healthcare system, starting with health insurance. Pragmatically speaking, we help employers reimburse employees for individual insurance instead of offering a traditional one-size-fits-all group plan. We believe this model can empower employees (when they have the right support) to be savvy healthcare consumers and have a transformative impact on the entire healthcare system.
Let’s be honest—health insurance is usually a confusing, frustrating, and even emotional experience for people. We want to fix that with a new model, great technology, and a superior user experience. We have made a great start, but we need your help to fully realize our long-term vision.
Enterprise Operations exists to ensure Take Command can scale efficiently and reliably by owning the internal systems, data, execution, and partnerships that power the business. We design, operate, and continuously improve the company’s internal operating model so teams can move faster, make better decisions, and scale with confidence.
We’re hiring a Director of Data & Business Intelligence to be a foundational leader within Enterprise Ops — someone who can build the data and BI muscle the company needs today while shaping how data, automation, and insight support scale over time.
This role is both hands-on and strategic. You’ll start by building core BI assets yourself, alongside a small team, and evolve into a leader who defines how data is governed, interpreted, and used across Operations, Finance, Product, and Go-To-Market teams. You’ll also play a key role in identifying opportunities to reduce manual work through automation and applied AI.
Own the company’s business intelligence strategy, including KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting
Build and maintain core BI assets hands-on early (models, dashboards, metric definitions)
Establish clear, lightweight data governance: definitions, documentation, and change management
Partner closely with Engineering to ensure reliable, well-understood data flows without owning core platform infrastructure
Design how insights are delivered so they drive action, not just visibility
Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting, reconciliation, and operational workflows, including the thoughtful use of AI where it adds leverage
Act as a strategic thought partner to leadership on performance, growth, and operational efficiency
Gradually build and lead a small, high-impact data team
Company KPIs and executive reporting
Standard dashboards used across Operations, Finance, Support, and GTM
Metric definitions and the data dictionary
The BI and analytics layer (e.g., Looker, semantic models, reporting tools)
Governance processes for introducing or changing metrics
Identification and prioritization of automation and AI opportunities within data and reporting workflows
Build things that help everyone: You design data systems and reporting that scale beyond yourself and make the whole company better
Seek clarity over comfort: You notice when numbers don’t line up, reduce ambiguity, and push toward clear decisions
Own the outcome: You step in and move things forward, even when ownership or the path isn’t obvious
Be technically grounded and customer-true: You understand the data, systems, and domain deeply and use that judgment to do right by the business and customers
Stay curious and open-minded: You explore new approaches (including AI and automation), invite correction, and keep improving without losing attention to detail
8–12+ years experience in data, analytics, BI, or related fields
Experience building or rebuilding a BI function in a growing company
Comfortable operating as a player-coach — strategic, but willing to get into the weeds
Strong business intuition; you understand how operational, financial, and go-to-market metrics fit together
Confident influencing senior stakeholders and navigating ambiguity
Pragmatic and execution-oriented — you know when “good enough” unlocks momentum
Nice to have
Experience reducing manual operational work through automation or AI
Background in fintech, healthcare, benefits, or other regulated environments
Experience with modern BI stacks and semantic layers
Leadership trusts and uses a consistent set of metrics to run the business
Teams spend less time reconciling numbers and more time acting
Manual reporting and operational overhead decrease through automation
BI is seen as a strategic partner within Enterprise Ops, not a reporting queue
The data foundation is strong enough to scale without rework
Compensation: $158,000-$178,000 + 15% bonus
Agreed-upon list of core company KPIs
Documented definitions for the highest-impact metrics
Inventory of existing dashboards, reports, pipelines, and manual data processes
Identified 2–3 priority data or reporting issues to address first
Identified top manual workflows (reporting, reconciliation, ops support) suitable for automation
Initial draft of a data dictionary
Signal: understands the business, the data, and where automation will matter.
Standardized definitions for core operational, financial, and GTM metrics
1–2 improved or newly standardized dashboards in active use
Reduction or consolidation of duplicate/conflicting reports
Published v1 data dictionary with named owners
At least one manual workflow reduced or automated (reporting, reconciliation, or data QA)
Defined lightweight process for requesting or changing metrics/reporting
Signal: delivers visible value and starts reducing operational drag.
Finalized core KPI set actively used by leadership
Executive reporting that ties together Ops, Finance, and GTM performance
Established data governance rhythm (cadence, approvers, documentation)
Clear roadmap for:
BI improvements
Data quality enhancements
Further automation and applied AI opportunities
Defined team operating model (roles, responsibilities, near-term hiring)
Signal: the foundation is solid, trusted, and ready to scale.
