OVERVIEW 

Element Critical is seeking to add a Data Center Controls Engineer to the Facility Operations team, who aligns with our company values of accountability, integrity, grit, and problem-solving. This role will be responsible for all things related to controls, including but not limited to design standards, implementation, and project management, and maintaining the company building electrical power management systems (EPMS), automation systems (BAS), and building management systems (BMS) for all Data Centers. You will develop new processes and standards while innovating in the control space. Overall desire is to create reliable and efficient controls (BAS, BMS, EPMS) that serve Operations and Customers. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: 

• General 
  • Collaborate with design and operations teams to develop and enforce automation logic, ensuring systems meet operational standards. 
  • Manage cross-functional partnerships with internal operations and engineering teams to troubleshoot complex control loop issues.  Utilize 3rd party vendors and contractors to resolve issues. 
  • Assist in procurement related activities including request for quotation/proposals, responding to request for information, assist in review of vendors proposals and submittal processing.  
  • Attend project related meetings, coordinate with project leaders, and regularly report status to management. 
  • Frequent visits to data centers to troubleshoot issues and supervise 3rd party vendor’s work to ensure compliance with the scope, design, and applicable local codes. 
• Create and maintain SOOs and documentation of existing controls infrastructure. 
  • Assemble library of I&C design documents, submittals, as-builts, and O&Ms 
  • Controls equipment inventory: sensors, valves, controllers, etc 
  • Vendors, contacts, contracts, warranties, licenses, entitlements, passwords, 3rd party network access 
• Initial and periodic audit of existing implementations

  • Lead scope definition, contractor vetting, pricing review, selection, on-boarding, progress meetings

  • Lead the commissioning life-cycle for data center BAS, BMS and electromechanical systems, ensuring validation of Building Automation, Building Management, and EPM System to control and monitor HVAC and electrical infrastructure effectively. 
    • Ensure commissioning effectiveness by reviewing scripts, monitoring execution, and reviewing reports & issues 
  • Lead owner’s punch and follow-up 
  • Vet closeout and transition to operations 
• SME and leader for internal support and customer integrations (similar to IT).  Collaborate with and support Facility Ops teams to enable local control within the I&C sandbox for reliability, reporting for efficiency and operations initiatives, as well as managing all training, documentation 
  • Implement and support customer integrations as directed by Customer Ops. 
  • Review results and action items from the quarterly maintenances for BMS and electrical systems and take actions to get them resolved. 
• Operate and maintain all controls hardware & software 
  • Oversee the testing and tuning of mechanical plant controls (chillers, cooling towers, AHUs), ensuring data visibility and system redundancy are maintained through robust SCADA implementations. 
  • Break-fix, preventive maintenance, ongoing tuning and adjustments. 
  • Participate in on-call schedule as secondary escalation to provide immediate BMS and electrical system technical support to in-service data centers. 
  • Troubleshoot and perform Root Cause Analysis or Corrective Action for BAS, BMS and  EPMS system related issues in Element Critical’s data centers. 
  • Per-site and global plant performance reporting 
  • Develop and maintain maintenance program for all controls equipment 
    • Hardware PM (calibrating sensors, stroking valves, etc) 
    • Platform PM (patches as appropriate, backups, etc.) 
  • Specify IT and network resources required by controls applications 
  • Configure and manage EPMS, BAS, and BMS system alarm frameworks, optimize alarm logic, prioritization, and thresholds to reduce false alarms, improve signal-to-noise ratio, and ensure rapid, accurate response to critical infrastructure events to actionable events by the Facility Operations team. 
• Special projects assigned by Manager. 

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following: 

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,  Systems Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 
• 5 years of experience in data center or critical facility environment, focused on the commissioning of mechanical systems and industrial controls. 
• 5 years of experience with Building Management Systems, PLC programming, SCADA Architecture (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, industrial networking). 
• Experience managing projects in a Design/Build delivery environment for mission-critical facilities, with a focus on cooling and mechanical automation. 
• Experience with contractors and site safety teams to ensure commissioning activities align with construction schedules and safety protocols. 
• Excellent communication skills. 
• Travel expected up to ~40%.

Element Critical is seeking to add an Operations Service Delivery Manager who aligns with our company values of accountability, integrity, grit, and problem-solving. 

We are seeking an experienced Operations Service Delivery Manager to oversee and manage data center service delivery operations. This role includes leading service order fulfillment, coordinating customer deployments, managing infrastructure installations, and ensuring accurate inventory and documentation. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proven track record in data center operations and team management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: 

• Manage and complete service order fulfillment and remote hands requests. Perform quality assurance (QA) for all completed Service Orders and document results.
• Act as the delivery manager and subject matter expert for service order installation and main point of contact for technical issue resolution.
• Complete installation of cage, cabinets, ladder rack, fiber tray and containment system.
• Update Inventory detail upon completion of all Service Orders. Confirm NetSuite inventory detail asset records are updated with quality and accuracy.
• Review Service Order item details and document exceptions.   
• Perform customer and carrier circuit troubleshooting, installation, termination, testing, and labeling of new cross connects.
• Manage customer communications for preventative and corrective maintenance and emergent events.
• Ensures timely customer case acknowledgment and response.
• Identify, respond and escalate critical BMS and Network Services alerts.
• Establish and maintain on-hand deployment inventory including fiber, copper and cabinets.
• Create Purchase Orders (PO) for customer deployments, materials, contractor labor and supplies. Confirm PO is received, track material and supply commitment schedule and escalate delay.
• Attend all customer deployment internal and external meetings. Own relationship for new deployments and existing customer requests.
• Complete new customer onboarding with Sales team.
• Perform backup Site Manager responsibilities.
• Hire, manage, and train Operations Technicians.
• Manage personnel schedules including shift assignment and coordination, time-off, and overtime.
• Prepare, document, and present staff evaluations. Manage performance management issues timely and effectively.
• Follow and enforce all Site Security access control methods and procedures.
• Support Site Security access control system installation, monitoring and maintenance.
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Conduct individual and team meetings. Lead cross functional projects as assigned.
• Conduct site tours for clients and Sales.
• Build and maintain supportive working relationships with clients and sales account management.
• Supervise work performance by vendor subcontractors to ensure adherence to standards, schedules, and specifications.
• Maintain PDU panel schedules. Implement airflow management and energy efficiency standards and cost saving recommendations.
• Support maintenance for critical infrastructure power, HVAC, fire detection and suppression, building management, local security and monitoring systems.
• Manages the expedient resolution of all escalations and emergency response requests.
• In the event of a network failure or critical infrastructure failure, assist Engineering and Facilities team with investigation, resolution and publish findings.
• Complete customer incident root cause analysis and create Post-Mortem report.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following: 

• Associate’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of Data Center Management and Operations experience.
• Proven leadership and decision-making skills. Work well with teams and all levels of the organization.
• Customer deployment installation and project management.
• Knowledge of data center electrical power generation and distribution, mechanical equipment, UPS, fire detection and suppression, building management and security systems.
• Knowledge of common network protocols such as TCP/IP and experience with fault isolating and troubleshooting including LAN and WAN.
• Proficient with network testing equipment.
• Extensive experience working with network hardware such as multiplexers, routers, switches, patch panels, and media converters.
• Experience creating purchase requisitions for site improvement projects, budget planning and expense control.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Experience managing staff performance, conducting evaluations, coaching, and team development.

The PMO Manager will play a critical role in managing the planning, governance, and oversight of IT and compliance-related initiatives across the organization. This role ensures that all technology, security, policies, and projects align with corporate objectives and adhere to standards under ISO 27001, SOC 1, PCI DSS, and HIPAA/HITECH frameworks. The PMO Manager will drive operational excellence, risk mitigation, and compliance through disciplined project management and process maturity. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, organized, and detail oriented.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:

• Oversee the company’s compliance program and policies including audit readiness, and regulatory certification efforts.
• Partner with IT Security, Risk, Legal, and Audit teams to ensure project deliverables support compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 1, PCI DSS, and HIPAA/HITECH standards.
• Serve as a liaison between technical teams, compliance officers, and executive stakeholders to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely delivery.
• Collaborate with IT, Security, and Compliance leadership to monitor program and project health, risk, and audit readiness.
• Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits, including SOC, ISO, PCI DSS, HIPAA/HITECH, or other applicable frameworks.
• Establish and manage the IT and Compliance PMO framework, ensuring consistent project governance, documentation, and execution across all IT initiatives.
• Support audit and regulatory review processes through proper documentation and evidence tracking.
• Serve as a liaison between technical teams, compliance officers, and executive stakeholders to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely delivery.
• Develop IT and Compliance project plans, set deadlines and owners for specific tasks, and track the progress of each project
• Monitor project health and program performance through KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting.
• Facilitate project status meetings and Compliance Committee sessions to review progress, risks, and alignment with regulatory frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 1, PCI DSS, HIPAA/HITECH).
• Create and maintain project dashboards for executives and stakeholders that provide clear visibility into schedules, risks, dependencies, and deliverables across multiple initiatives.
• Execute, lead, and support other projects assigned by leadership in support of organizational goals and strategic objectives.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, Communication or a relevant study preferred.
• At least five (5) years of work experience in Project Management or PMO, with at least 1 year focused on IT compliance or governance (ISO 27001, SOC 1, PCI DSS, and HIPAA/HITECH).
• Knowledge around Data Center operations and NetSuite (ERP), with the ability to align project and compliance initiatives within these environments is a plus.
• PMP Certification preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project/program management tools, including Excel, Smartsheet, and MS Projects, to support reporting, analysis, and project tracking
• Advanced PowerPoint skills are required to develop executive-level presentations, project updates, dashboards, and strategic communications for executives, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Effective communication and organizational skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate both verbally and in writing to internal and external audiences.
• Develop and maintain executive summaries for multiple projects, providing senior leadership with concise visibility into progress, risks, milestones, and strategic decisions.
• Proven ability to develop effective working relationships.
