Qualifications

Over 5 years of industry experience in software engineering, specializing in machine learning, language modeling, recommendation systems, and information retrieval.

Ability to quickly keep up with the latest research trends and apply them to production.
Ability to accelerate AI model development lifecycles by leveraging coding agents such as Claude Code and Devin.

The Opportunity

Factorial is looking for an All-Solid-State Battery Anode Wet & SE Slurry Coating Process Engineer responsible for the wet slurry coating process and equipment development for anode and sulfide-based solid electrolyte (SE) applications. We leverage cutting-edge wet electrode manufacturing to revolutionize all-solid-state battery performance, cost, and scalability. This role requires experience in close cooperation with internal teams and external partners. This candidate will be involved from the beginning of process optimization for R&D projects, pilot line scale-up, and through to low/high-volume production. The candidate must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate efficient communication between various departments/vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities

All-Solid-State Battery Anode Wet & SE Slurry Coating Process Development

Lead R&D efforts to design, optimize, and scale wet slurry coating processes for ASSB anode and sulfide SE applications.
Develop novel slurry formulations and coating strategies to enhance electrode-electrolyte interfacial compatibility, ionic transport efficiency, and cycling stability.
Establish critical process parameters (e.g., slurry dispersion, viscosity control, coating speed, drying profiles) to meet all-solid-state battery performance specifications.
Address key wet coating challenges specific to ASSB: solvent selection, slurry sedimentation, SE-solvent compatibility, and interfacial side reaction control.

Quality & Yield Improvement

Identify root causes of wet coating defects (e.g., pinholes, thickness non-uniformity, cracks, lithium dendrite penetration) and implement corrective actions.
Utilize statistical analysis (SPC, DOE) to drive yield improvements and reduce process variability.
Collaborate with PD/QA to define testing protocols and quality standards for wet-processed all-solid-state electrodes.

Production Efficiency & Scalability

Optimize manufacturing workflows to increase throughput and reduce unit production costs.
Design experiments to validate process scalability from lab to pilot line to mass production.
Troubleshoot equipment/process issues to minimize downtime.

Next-Generation Equipment Development

Partner with equipment vendors to conceptualize, prototype, and validate next-gen wet coating electrode machinery.
Define technical specifications for new equipment (e.g., vacuum-integrated drying systems, solvent recovery units).
Drive innovation in automation, in-line monitoring, and Industry 4.0 integration.

Must Have Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

3+ years of hands-on experience in wet electrode coating manufacturing for lithium-ion batteries, sulfide electrolyte system experience highly preferred.
Deep knowledge of wet process steps: slurry preparation (dispersion, deaeration), precision coating (doctor blade/slot-die), vacuum drying, calendaring, and lamination.
Proficiency in material characterization (SEM, XRD, adhesion testing) and data analysis tools (JMP, Minitab).

Process & Quality Tools:

Mastery of DOE, SPC, FMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience scaling processes from R&D to high-volume production.

Equipment & Innovation:

Proven ability to collaborate with equipment suppliers on custom solutions.
Familiarity with ASSB-specific process challenges (moisture control, interfacial stability, mechanical pressure sensitivity).

Education & Collaboration:

Master's in chemical/Materials/Mechanical Engineering or related field.

About the team

The Principal Engineer role sits within GitLab’s Infrastructure Platforms organization, working across multiple teams to shape how our platform scales and operates. This group is responsible for some of GitLab’s most critical systems, including the multi-tenant SaaS platform, core delivery pipelines, and the underlying infrastructure that powers millions of users. As a Principal Engineer, you’ll define technical direction, guide architectural decisions, and ensure our platforms remain resilient, performant, and modern. The team operates fully remotely and collaborates asynchronously across time zones, grounded in GitLab’s values of transparency, autonomy, and open communication. The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of the United States only. This range is intended to reflect the role's base salary rate in locations throughout the US. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, alignment with market data, and geographic location. Job Requirements:

4+ years of relevant experience as a Solutions/System Engineer with a proven track record and demonstrable skills at presenting technical information at the business executive level or at the architect level
Strong empathy for customers AND passion for revenue and growth.
Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills ranging from tech level up to senior executives. Comfortable in public speaking and presenting to both internal and external executive audiences.

Team Overview

The team is responsible for the customers’ product discovery experience on Coupang and Coupang Eats, including search and recommendation quality, product ranking on category pages, and review ranking.

Role Overview

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer for Search and Recommendations, you will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and improvement of the end-to-end search and recommendation quality and systems. This encompasses our online recommendation ranking models/systems, multiple data pipelines that produce the candidates and features (offline and online) used across various ranking algorithms, a serving system that produces the recommendation result and product ranking result across the Coupang and Coupang Eats. You will need to collaborate closely with the global teams that share ownership of customers’ product discovery experiences in Coupang. You will run experiments to validate in a controlled environment and launch any features and ranking improvements that would improve the customer experience.

Role Overview

Coupang Pay aims to make Coupang the most convenient online payment platform.

As a Senior Staff Backend Engineer on the Product Engineering team, you will go beyond feature development to define the technical direction of core payment domains and design and evolve highly reliable fintech systems that handle large-scale traffic.

As the technical owner of core payment services—including Coupay, Korea’s first one-touch payment system—you will be responsible for system stability, scalability, security, and performance end to end. You will identify complex technical challenges and design and implement fundamental solutions to make payment services used by tens of millions of customers faster and safer.

You will also work closely with cross-functional partners such as Accounting, Treasury, and other Fintech engineering teams to lead the architecture of payment back-office systems, as well as settlement and reconciliation platforms, while improving operational stability.

In addition, you will act as a key contributor in elevating the technical bar across the organization through code review, design review, and technical guidance.

Basic Qualifications

15+ years of backend engineering experience
Ability to design and operate large-scale distributed systems based on Java and the Spring Framework
Experience owning and proactively driving improvements for one or more complex services or domains with strong ownership

Role Overview

Role Overview

Team Overview

Coupang Eats is offering both food delivery and quick-commerce solutions to Korean customers. Additionally the food delivery experience is also available in the Japanese market. Within this space, the team is responsible for the search funnel for these 3 verticals. Role Overview

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer for Search, you will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and improvement of the end-to-end search quality and systems. Since the scope ranges across all the search layers (retrieval, relevance query understanding, intent expression, ranking, etc.) there are a wide range of customer problems to resolve. This will require designing and maintaining multiple foundational models. About the Role

We are looking for a strong software engineer to join our System Software Team. This is a broad system software role for engineers who are comfortable working across architecture, implementation, debugging, and long-term maintainability.

The work spans core software components, system interfaces, runtime behavior, and reliability issues across large C++ codebases. This is not a narrowly scoped feature role. We want someone who can understand a complex system end-to-end, make sound engineering decisions, and turn ambiguous problems into robust, production-grade software.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain high-performance system software and middleware in Modern C++ as part of core system development.
Drive system optimization by tuning the Linux environment to ensure maximum throughput and ultra-low latency for real-time perception stacks.
Ensure reliability and maintainability by investigating complex, non-trivial failures and driving root-cause resolution across interacting modules and subsystems.
Promote engineering excellence by improving code quality, testability, and debuggability while raising the technical bar through sound technical judgment.
Facilitate cross-boundary collaboration with perception, infra, and product teams to design robust interfaces and make practical engineering tradeoffs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3+ years of related work experience with strong proficiency in Modern C++ with a deep understanding of multi-threading and concurrency.
Demonstrate a mastery of Linux systems with an in-depth understanding of IPC, networking, and system calls, combined with expertise in profiling and performance analysis tools.
Possess strong problem-solving skills with experience debugging complex system-level issues in production or production-like environments.
Apply sound engineering judgment to turn ambiguous requirements into well-structured software with a strong bias toward ownership.
Business English proficiency for collaboration in a multinational team.

About the Role

Under the mission of "Making Robots Intelligent," Seoul Robotics is developing the world's best perception technology for autonomous driving. We are looking for talented software engineers who can design, implement, and productize technologies that precisely perceive the world by fusing data from various sensors such as LiDAR and cameras. You will develop and optimize algorithms that process vast amounts of LiDAR point clouds and high-resolution camera images in real-time using deep learning and various cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement 3D object detection, tracking, segmentation, and classification algorithms using LiDAR and camera data.
Convert and integrate deep learning models developed in PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc., into C++ based high-performance inference engines.
Profiling and optimization for real-time processing.
Implement Sensor Fusion algorithms for autonomous driving systems.
Build data pipelines.
Verify algorithms through simulation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in Python or Modern C++ (C++14/17 or higher) programming.
Fundamental knowledge of computer science such as data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
Related mathematical knowledge such as linear algebra, probability and statistics, and geometry.

This role is based in Korea, with primary responsibility for supporting Japan-based customers and projects, requiring strong execution capability, deep process understanding, and excellent communication skills in a global environment. You will work closely with customers, field, and global R&D teams to enable high‑volume manufacturing and next‑generation device applications.

What you will be working on

Develop, optimize, and support PECVD processes for dielectric and functional thin films (including SiO, SiC) for logic, memory, analog, power, and MEMS applications.
Design, execute, and analyze complex experiments using DOE and RSM, and interpret advanced process and materials characterization results.
Drive process transfer, customer demonstrations, and high‑volume manufacturing (HVM) support.
Troubleshoot process and equipment issues through hands‑on engagement and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
Collaborate with global R&D, field service, and marketing teams to define customer requirements and deliver robust process solutions.
Produce and present technical documentation, internal reports, and customer-facing materials, ensuring clarity and execution readiness.

What we are looking for

Master’s degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
Hands‑on experience with PECVD or related thin film deposition technologies (e.g., ALD, PEALD, CVD, Epitaxy).
Strong understanding of thin film materials and semiconductor process integration.
Experience with materials characterization techniques such as XPS, SIMS, SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD, ellipsometry, or equivalent.
Ability to work independently in complex, execution‑driven environments and manage multiple technical priorities.
Fluent English communication skills required for daily collaboration with global and Japan-based stakeholders.
Willingness to travel to Japan as required to support projects.

What sets you apart

PhD degree preferred, especially with research or industry experience in PECVD process development.
Direct experience with SiO and/or SiC film development for advanced device applications.
Strong background in high‑volume manufacturing (HVM) support and customer‑facing process execution.
Ability to bridge process technology, equipment behavior, and customer requirements effectively.
Japanese language proficiency is a strong plus.
Demonstrated ability to author technical papers, contribute to intellectual property, or present to technical audiences.

Job's mission

As a Principal / Senior Process Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing ASM’s semiconductor process technologies. You’ll leverage your expertise in thin-film deposition and materials characterization to develop innovative solutions for next-generation devices. Your work will directly influence product performance and enable breakthroughs in logic, memory, and power applications.

What you will be working on

Research, develop, and optimize semiconductor processes focused on Advanced Packaging including depositions (ALD, PECVD, PVD, ECP) and surface preparation.
Design and conduct complex experiments using DOE and RSM methodologies; interpret and analyze experimental data.
Develop new films or processes for emerging packaging applications like W2W/D2W Hybrid bonding and perform advanced materials characterization.
Provide mentorship to Process Engineers and lead technical problem-solving sessions using scientific methods and tools such as Ishikawa diagrams.
Collaborate with customers and marketing teams to define requirements and execute demonstrations.
Troubleshoot equipment issues through hands-on engagement and ensure successful product transfer to customers.
Draft technical papers, generate Intellectual Property, and present findings to professional audiences.
Travel up to 10% to support remote sites and customer engagements.
May supervise process engineering technicians and provide input on performance evaluations.

What we are looking for

Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
Direct experience working on D2W/W2W Hybrid bonding including surface preparation steps
Minimum 10 years of combined education, research, and work experience in thin-film deposition (ALD, CVD, PECVD) and advanced packaging processes.
Proficiency in materials characterization techniques (XPS, SIMS, RBS, AFM, XRR, XRD, TEM, SEM, ellipsometry).
Knowledge of electrical characterization techniques for CMOS devices.
Ability to manage complex process development projects, including schedules, budgets, and personnel.
