Key Responsibilities

[Support]

• Gather information to investigate reported issues, reproduce the problems, and create bug reports for customer site tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, including embedded software for control systems for customer site tools.
  Able to triage mechanical, electrical, and software-related problems.
• Work with QA to add reproduced issues to regression testing.
• Travel to customer sites to support installation, training, and troubleshooting of ASM products.
• When investigating reported issues, coordinate with the account team and GPS group rather than communicating directly with the customer.

• Test pre-release software as part of QA activities and create bug reports for any issues found.

• Promote business improvement using Global QA tools.
• Evaluate designed/developed software with simulator and the actual tool.

• Work with support to add reproduced issues to regression testing.
• Responsible for setting up and managing the in-house software test environment.

Key Requirements

• 3 years+ of experience as software QA tester.
• Experience with JIRA and TestRail.
• Ability to work across cultural barriers.

• Experience in the semiconductor or FPD (Flat Panel Display) industry.

What You’ll Be Working On

• Lead deep technical investigations into software-related safety interlocks, validating corrective and preventive actions.
• Analyze and optimize multiple interacting subsystems, gaining end-to-end understanding of full platform workflows.
• Drive root cause and corrective action (RCCA) using packet captures, log correlation, and system-level analysis.
• Design and evaluate subsystem architectures, including multi-threading and scheduler interactions.
• Develop, test, deploy, maintain, and continuously improve software for advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex software issues, including real-time control systems.
• Act as a technical escalation point—supporting field engineers and customers globally.
  Partner with QA and Support to reproduce field issues and strengthen regression coverage.
• Author and review system specifications, software designs, and test plans.
• Investigate internal and external technical inquiries, delivering clear analysis and actionable solutions.
• Evaluate and influence software engineering tools and system design decisions.
• Plan and coordinate rapid software fixes and deployments in high-impact environments.
• Present technical insights, progress, and outcomes in customer QBRs, including findings from complex DOE analyses.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) with 7+ years of industry experience, or Master’s degree with 4+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience
• Strong software development expertise in C++ and/or C#
• Solid understanding of multi-threaded applications
• Experience working with software documentation, specifications, and APIs
• Good knowledge of software memory architecture and debugging

Job's mission

In this role, you will develop core control software and common Process Module Controller functionalities used across multiple ASM semiconductor equipment platforms, including PEALD, PECVD, and EPI systems.

You will design and implement core software components and equipment drivers that are tightly integrated with real production equipment, playing a critical role in improving stability, productivity, and performance across diverse semiconductor manufacturing environments.

What you will be working on

As an experienced Software Support Engineer, you will take ownership of complex software issues in customer-facing environments and play a key role in bridging customers, field teams, and development.

• Lead and support collaboration with Software Design Engineers throughout software development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement for semiconductor manufacturing equipment
• Diagnose and triage system-level issues spanning software, mechanical, and electrical domains
• Own and manage technical escalation calls with field support engineers and customers at the local level
• Work closely with QA and Support teams to reproduce reported issues and add confirmed defects to the regression test suite
• Act as the primary technical voice of the customer by gathering requirements, aligning priorities, and translating needs into clear, accurate software specifications
• Support debugging and fixing complex issues, and when possible, develop small enhancements to improve system stability or functionality
• Author, revise, and review system specifications, software designs, test plans, and other software documentation
• Investigate and troubleshoot internal and external inquiries, questions, and problem reports; provide root-cause analysis, solutions, and viable alternatives
