About this role
We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to help shape the direction of our platform and elevate the impact of our engineering team. This role offers meaningful influence and scope: shipping features that improve patients’ lives, strengthening the reliability of our systems, and moving our product forward in close partnership with Product, Design, Data, and Clinical teams.
You’ll build across our stack (React, React Native, NestJS, GraphQL, Postgres) ) and cloud-based systems (AWS) to remove friction from care, support clinicians at scale, and ensure patients remain at the center of every experience we deliver.

This is a full-time remote position expected to work 40 hours between Monday-Friday during standard business hours. Team members may work with their managers to adjust work hours to suit the needs of the position.
Compensation
The starting pay range for this position is $145,000 - $170,000 per year; base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements including a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave).

As a Staff Platform Engineer at Topstep, you’ll set the technical direction for how we approach infrastructure, reliability, and operational excellence across the engineering organization. This is a role that blends deep infrastructure expertise with SRE leadership you’ll be as comfortable tuning Terraform modules and Kubernetes manifests as you are defining SLOs, shaping incident response culture, and mentoring engineers on production ownership.
You’ll own the strategy for our AWS infrastructure, observability stack, and platform tooling while driving the practices that let product teams ship with speed and confidence. You’ll influence architectural decisions across teams, close the gaps that prevent fast diagnosis of production issues, and build the foundations of a mature, unified platform engineering function.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
● Proficiency with JavaScript or TypeScript and backend development using Node.js
● Experience building APIs and services using modern frameworks (e.g., Nest.js, Express)
● Experience designing and architecting distributed or scalable systems
● Experience working with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
