You will be:

• Designing & Driving the implementation of complex, high-volume backend solutions, focusing on core demand flow and event-driven architectures.
• Contribute to the team’s technical roadmap by proposing and executing platform improvements that dismantle legacy constraints and increase scalability.
• Mentor and collaborate with junior engineers, guiding them through complex design decisions, best practices, and effective goal decomposition.
• Establish and document best-in-class coding patterns and domain standards, ensuring they are accessible and actionable across the team.
• Maintain a culture of excellence through thorough code reviews and by troubleshooting complex performance, testing, and deployment issues in a high-traffic production environment.

You should have:

• 8+ years of professional experience in software development, with a primary focus on building and scaling complex backend systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and the NestJS framework, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, production-grade features at scale.
• Extensive experience building and consuming API-driven applications (e.g., RESTful services) and a strong understanding of microservice architectures.
• A solid foundation in Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles and the ability to apply them to solve complex business logic challenges.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms to build decoupled, resilient systems.
• A strong commitment to code quality, comprehensive documentation, and a mindset geared toward operational excellence and system reliability.
• Experienced in Ruby on Rails with a proven ability to navigate and interpret complex legacy codebases.
• Experience operating in a distributed systems environment and a solid conceptual understanding of event-driven architecture (e.g., using message queues or streams).
• Experience building and supporting containerized applications deployed into Kubernetes infrastructures.

Your Areas of Expertise:

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of industry experience building and deploying high-quality, production-grade machine learning models and systems.
• Strong theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in machine learning, particularly in areas like search, ranking, recommender systems, or NLP.
• Solid software engineering skills with proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python.​​  The candidate should have experience with popular ML libraries like Scikit-learn, lightgbm, xgboost, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
• Proficiency in SQL is also required for writing complex queries and transforming data.
• Experience building REST API-based services.
• Experience with modern data and ML technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Airflow, data warehouses (eg snowflake, redshift or BigQuery), and data lakes.  
• Familiarity with dbt (Data Build Tool) is a plus for transforming and testing data.
• Familiarity with tools for Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A passion for quickly learning new technologies and a drive to solve challenging problems.

The Tasker Success team helps Taskers achieve their personal tasking goals using Taskrabbit.  The Tasker Success Manager plays a critical role in onboarding Taskers seamlessly, nurturing them, ensuring that they are fully utilized and retained, and building satisfaction with the platform. We’re proactive—helping Taskers before they realize they need support. These approaches, employed at the local level, result in higher quality, more retentive, and more satisfied Taskers. The work you do will support our overall managed marketplace strategy, helping to ensure that every job gets done so well that Taskers and clients come back again and again.

You will be responsible for a specific set of metropolitan areas, driving key metrics for the company as well as supply alignment in those metros, which result in increased invoices and revenue. You will be the face of Taskrabbit to Taskers in your market and seen as a regional expert across the organization. 

What You’ll Do

• Drive invoices and revenue by analyzing supply data and taking targeted actions to improve supply health, booking conversion, and Tasker quality at key stages of the Tasker lifecycle—including activation, billing, retention, and churn. Advise and/or take direct action to acquire quality Taskers when needed. 
• Act as a regional subject-matter expert—monitoring market performance, responding to data trends, and tailoring programs and supply tactics to local dynamics and Tasker performance. 
• Help Taskers in your Book of Business thrive through performance coaching (in 1:1 and group settings) in person and virtually, at every stage of the Tasker lifecycle.
• Actively grow Tasker participation in scaled lifecycle programs to reach more Taskers. Determine the most effective communication channels to reach Taskers.
• Master the Tasker lifecycle and use data-driven insights to identify gaps, recommend cross-functional improvements, and drive better outcomes throughout the entire platform experience.
• Demonstrate strong data fluency to communicate performance insights and business impact to various teams and leadership.
• Design and lead experiments to improve supply alignment and Tasker success. 
• Be a product expert. Know what features are live, how they work, and be able to explain them to an external audience. Validate and submit bug reports when we hear issues from Taskers.
• Lead community engagement efforts—hosting office hours, profile workshops, and Tasker socials to foster a vibrant and inclusive community.
• Work crossfunctionally with Product, Customer Support, Partnerships, Marketing, Legal, and other Commercial Operations teams to advocate for solutions that support Taskers and drive invoices and revenue.  
• Share learnings, pitfalls, and wins with the global Tasker Operations team to improve programs and/or create new ones.
• Travel up to 10% for metro-specific and team events.

About You

• Based in Berlin or an easily commutable distance into this city, with availability to potentially travel to other main regions as required.
• 4+ years in marketplace operations, customer success, community management, or comparable roles.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

This role operates on a hybrid schedule requiring two days of in-office collaboration per week. The position can be based in either our San Francisco office or our new New York City office (opening April 2026).

About the Role

Data Science plays a crucial role in driving impact at Taskrabbit. As a member of the team, you will help drive our business strategy forward through predictive insights. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Data Scientist to join us, working closely with cross-functional teams from product, finance, engineering, risk and operations to provide data-driven insights and solutions that enhance our products and accelerate growth while minimizing marketplace losses. 

What you will work on

• Be a strategic thought partner with stakeholders from product, risk, finance, engineering, and operations to define high-impact analytical problems, and solve them using different analytical and statistical approaches. Present actionable insights in a clear and compelling manner.
• Proactively perform analytical deep dives to identify strategic growth opportunities in key business levers with a focus on commerce and risk
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and measure success metrics for new features and products, conduct advanced experimentation and causal inference to optimize product features and user experiences
• Design, develop, and scale proactive fraud interventions using heuristic and/or machine learning models. These efforts will be focused on enhancing financial performance by mitigating issues such as chargebacks, fraud, transaction declines, and refunds.
• Foster a data-driven culture within the organization by advocating for best practices in data analysis and interpretation.

Who you are

• BS, MS or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, or related field).
• A minimum of 7 years industry experience in data science; previous experience in a marketplace or fintech company is a plus
• Strong and relevant experience with advanced experimentation and statistical modeling; you have past experience with fraud/risk models in a marketplace/fintech context
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent business acumen and strategic thinking skills, especially in a commerce/risk domain
• Expert in SQL, experienced in Python, and familiar with data pipeline tooling (e.g. dbt) and git. Bonus points for experience in productionizing ML models and familiarity with ML Ops.
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive your own projects end-to-end with a track record of landing strong business impact 
• Ability to communicate complex data findings in a clear and concise manner to an executive audience.
