The salary range for this position to be filled in our Toronto, ON office is CAD 64,200 to 80,300 annually. This is the anticipated salary range at the time of posting. We’re looking for a Staff Engineer - User Experience (Backend) to join our Patient Platform team and shape the systems that power patient-facing experiences across our health technology platform. This team owns the APIs, orchestration services, and communication infrastructure that enable secure, reliable interactions between patients and our platform (Email, SMS, notifications).
We are at a critical stage of growth, scaling our platform, modernizing legacy services, and strengthening our event-driven architecture to support increasing patient volume and communication complexity. This role will play a central part in defining how our backend systems evolve as we scale.
As a Staff Engineer - User Experience (Backend), you will be the technical authority for the Patient Platform domain, translating architectural strategy into scalable, production-ready distributed systems in partnership with cross-functional teams. You will drive the evolution of our API-first architecture (including BFF and orchestration patterns), define and enforce API contracts, and modernize tightly coupled services into scalable, event-driven components.

About the Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Rust to lead the evolution of our backend platform and tooling. This role will focus on developing and maintaining critical Rust-based tools and infrastructure which could bring Tubi to its next era.

The Discovery Search team (Search FX) sits at the intersection of search, evaluation, and personalization shaping how retailers find the products they love. Our mission is to build the most intuitive, intelligent, and delightful discovery experience in wholesale: one that feels less like a search engine and more like a trusted merchant with an encyclopedic knowledge of what's in stock and what will sell.
As a Staff Engineer on the Search FX team, you will be a primary technical architect for our retailer-facing search surfaces. You will own the technical roadmap for search, recommendations, and Gen-AI experiences that drive a meaningful share of marketplace engagement. You will bridge the gap between high-scale infrastructure and world-class UX, helping unify retrieval, ranking, and personalization into a cohesive, high-performance system.
Canada: the pay range for this role is $190,500 - $262,000 per year.
This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Hybrid Faire employees currently go into the office 3 days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third flex day of their choosing (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday). Additionally, hybrid in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year. The Cloud DevSecOps Engineer III is responsible for bringing the concepts of development, security, and operations together to create a more robust security system for the organization. They test and monitor an organization’s system for vulnerabilities and work in collaboration with developers to create new programs that patch holes in the current security program. They add countermeasures to prevent against new threats, or simply make the program stronger and more effective. They are responsible for keeping the organization’s data, network, and IT infrastructure safe and free from security threats through monitoring, programming, testing, and communication.

· Build & Deploy - AWS CloudFormation and OpenTofu for template creation & maintenance
· Leverage GitHub Actions as well as AWS CodePipeline CI/CD automation Leverage AWS Cost Optimizations & AWS Well-Architected Best Practice recommendations
· HA & DR implementations, including improvements to RTO/RPO
· Help maintain AWS Operations with governance mechanisms
· Help to maintain and own the Infrastructure and Operational Excellence for the company
· Document and develop processes to support systems across the organization
· Monitor the implementation of various critical infrastructure and middleware components

What We’re Looking For:
· Must have AWS Certified SysOps Administrator and/or Solutions Architect Associate and/or Developer Associate and/or 7+ years of implementing & maintaining enterprise AWS Cloud environments.
· Experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale
· Cloud architecture experience in AWS environment and container-based deployments using OpenTofu, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, and CloudFormation.
· Passionate for continuous learning and understanding things in and around cloud development
· Experience with various AWS services like ECS, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, Cognito, WAF, GuardDuty, CloudFront, Route 53, EventBridge, Github Actions, etc
· Experience with any tools like DataDog, CloudWatch, or similar tools for observability
· Solid understanding of the application and infrastructure security
· Good to have knowledge on Azure and an understanding of Azure Active Directory

· Competitive Base Salary Range of $117,800-$189,000 Kapitus is providing this as a good faith salary range to comply with applicable law. The applicant’s final salary will depend on a number of factors including the applicant’s geographic location, skills, and experience.
