ETI’s Storage Infrastructure team is responsible for the core storage layer that underpins many of ETI's stateful services. Our scope ranges from managing the physical hardware to operating the distributed databases and storage systems built upon it. We run this infrastructure globally across Cloudflare's network, which presents unique and complex engineering puzzles. We navigate efficiently expanding storage capacity, optimizing rebuild operations, and coordinating operations across failure domains to uphold durability. While other service teams focus on product development, our mission is to ensure the underlying storage is reliable, performant, and scalable.
You’ll be joining a highly motivated team that is building the next generation of distributed storage services.
In this role, you will help build and operate the next generation of globally distributed storage systems. You will own your code from inception to release, delivering solutions at all layers of the stack. On any given day, you might write a design document for a new provisioning system, model failure domain dependencies across edge locations, benchmark new storage hardware, build standardized observability and runbooks for distributed database clusters, or automate operational toil through purpose-built tooling and intelligent automation. You can expect to interact with a variety of languages and technologies including Rust, Go, Saltstack, and Terraform.

About the Advanced Technology Group
The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is a part of Foundational Systems and Experiences Engineering (FSEE) within the Platform Business Group. Established over 20 years ago as part of PlayStation’s first party game development studios, ATG's focus has always been to help game developers to get the most out of PlayStation hardware, and this is still true today. The majority of the group holds responsibility for a large part of the GPU software stack used by all PlayStation games, which allows us to collaborate with engineering teams worldwide, from third party game developers to hardware vendors, to deliver key platform technologies.
You will be part of a small creative team within ATG, tackling problems centred around computer vision and machine learning. Examples of projects include a novel facial performance capture system used to produce assets for AAA games, and building a general purpose solution for on-console inference.
The Role
You will be expected to develop innovative ML solutions for deployment in games and in the development pipeline. This also involves making technology choices, prototype solutions and bringing them to production.
Some of these systems are expected to run on millions of PlayStations in people’s homes, making high run-time performance crucial. You should stay up to date with the competition and the industry’s latest advances and academic developments. The role also involves close collaboration with our other teams in Europe, the U.S and Japan, as well as technical communication of the ideas and solutions developed.
The Essential Requirements
• Experience with modern Deep Learning and Pytorch: You will be expected to make decisions about data and architectures, to implement pipelines for training and validation and to develop and deploy models in production.
• Experience with production-facing software development and strong debugging skills. This also requires demonstrating applied engineering skills through a shipped ML network or personal project.
• Understanding of 3D maths/geometry: Including multiple-view geometry and 3D mesh representations.

What you’ll do:
The Pre-Sales Solutions Engineering organization is responsible for the technical sale of the Cloudflare solutions portfolio, ensuring maximal business value, fit-for-purpose solution design, and efficient adoption roadmaps for our customers.
As a Solutions Engineer, you are the technical customer advocate within Cloudflare. You will aid your customers and work closely with every team at Cloudflare, from Sales and Product to Engineering and Customer Support. Your goal of customer success should drive you through the entire organization as you seek out and create scalable solutions for your customer’s needs.
Technology moves at lightning speed; a broad knowledge of Internet performance and security technologies is required, and the curiosity to maintain and develop new knowledge is essential to keeping up with the high rate of product innovation at Cloudflare.
Examples Of Desirable Skills, Knowledge And Experience:
Ultimately, you are passionate about technology and have the ability to explain complex technical concepts—like how an edge network reduces "lag" or how WAF rules protect a player's wallet—in easy-to-understand terms. You are naturally curious, and an avid builder who is not afraid to get your hands dirty.
You appreciate the diversity of challenges in working with customers, from managing "micro-burst" traffic spikes to navigating regulatory requirements. Working directly with developers from our customers, our Customer Support Engineers help some of them with massive scaling and others with getting started on new integrations.
