Team mission

As a Senior Cash Accountant, you will own key reconciliation and reporting processes and ensure high-quality financial data across systems—from transaction-level detail through to month-end deliverables. Partnering closely with different Accounting teams, FP&A, and Finance IT, you’ll help keep our financial engine running reliably by solving root causes, improving processes, and strengthening documentation and controls.

Your mission

• Own and drive complex reconciliations across multiple systems and data sources, investigating variances and resolving breaks end-to-end.
• Manage large volumes of financial data, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and strong auditability.
• Perform detailed account analysis and prepare clear documentation that supports month-end close, internal controls, and external audit requirements.
• Partner closely with FP&A, Accounting and our Finance IT Teams to ensure accurate financial outcomes, smooth processes, and strong cross-functional alignment.
• Deep-dive into system and ledger details (SAP S/4 Hana and other reporting tools) to identify root causes, improve data integrity, and streamline workflows.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, balance sheet substantiation, and roll-forwards where 
• relevant.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and control enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
• Support ad-hoc analyses and projects that require strong accounting judgment, structured problem solving, and clear communication.

Your toolkit

• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience (e.g., in-house accounting, audit, advisory, or a mix), with a track record of owning complex topics independently.
• Strong accounting fundamentals and the ability to apply them to real-world, high-volume environments.
• Demonstrated experience with complex reconciliations, data investigation, and working across multiple systems to trace transactions end-to-end.
• Highly analytical and detail-oriented, comfortable working with large datasets (Excel/Google Sheets at an advanced level; experience with ERP and reporting tools is a strong plus).
• A proactive, structured communicator who collaborates effectively with stakeholders across Finance and can explain technical topics clearly.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, scaling environment; you balance precision with pragmatism and continuously look for ways to improve processes.
• Fluency in English (German is a plus).

As a Payroll Accountant, you will own the end-to-end payroll process for more than 900 employees across the region, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless payroll experience. What You’ll Do

• Own and drive the monthly payroll process for Via Germany, partnering closely with our external payroll provider and internal Finance and People teams to ensure timely, accurate payroll execution.
• Monitor and interpret German tax regulations, wage laws, and compliance requirements, ensuring payroll processes remain aligned with evolving regulatory standards.
• Perform regular payroll audits to maintain the accuracy and integrity of employee pay data, while designing and implementing process improvements and internal controls.

• Detail-oriented and highly accurate, with the ability to manage payroll tasks independently and meet strict deadlines.

Job Summary

The Accounting Director is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of 2 entities located in Germany and Switzerland, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements (German/Switzerland gaap and IFRS ), and global policies. This role manages one senior accountant, supervises financial, tax, accounting reporting processes, and supports/implements strategic decisions, global processes/policies. This role reports to the Accounting Director of the Rest of world.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, trending analysis.
• Ensure compliance with Local GAAP/IFRS and local tax, regulatory requirements, SOX controls.
• Manage general ledger accuracy and reconciliation processes.
• Oversee local tax filings, audits, and statutory reporting and liaise with global accounting teams (consolidation, tax).
• Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.

2. Accounting Operations

• Supervise treasury activities (account reconciliation, posting, approval, excess of cash, request of fundings).
• Manage transfer pricing calculations and invoicing
• Supervise inventory accounting and provide adhoc analysis
• Ensure month-end and year-end closing processes regarding mainly inventory, accounts payables, accounts receivable, payroll, royalties.
• Monitor cash flow and financial transactions, approve payments and ensure payments in a timely manner of Payroll, taxes, licensors, logistics providers..
• Oversee inventory and fixed asset management

3. Audit & Risk Management

• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.

4. Leadership & Team Management

• Solve accounts payables, receivable, payroll once escalated
• Solve escalated challenges raised by internal or external customers, third parties
• Follow any IT, Netsuite tickets
• Manage and mentor a senior accountant.
• Assign tasks and monitor performance.
• Provide training on accounting standards and systems.
• Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Support the Administrative management with the local General manager

5. Financial Analysis & Strategic Support

• Provide financial analysis to support business decisions, global teams.
• Assist any business partner with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Collaborate with senior management on financial planning initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
• CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent certification

Experience

• +12 years of progressive accounting experience
• 3–5+ years in a supervisory or managerial accounting role
• Experience with financial reporting and audits in German GAAP
• Used to work for a German affiliate company, member of an international group

• Ausbau und kontinuierliche Verbesserung des rechnungslegungsrelevanten internen Kontrollsystems (IKS) in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Fachabteilungen.
• Mitarbeit in rechnungslegungsbezogenen Projekten.

Qualifikationen

• Abgeschlossenes Studium der Wirtschaftswissenschaften mit Vertiefung in Rechnungslegung, Bilanzierung oder anderen, verwandten gebieten.
•  mind. 5 Jahre Berufserfahrung im (Konzern-) Rechnungswesen eines internationalen Konzerns oder bei einer Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft.
• Fundierte Kenntnisse in der internationalen Rechnungslegung (IFRS), der Konsolidierung sowie Berichterstattungspflichten eines kapitalmarktorientierten Unternehmens.

As a Group Senior Accountant you have the knowledge and skills to lead group accounting activities in accordance with German GAAP and IFRS, including preparation of consolidated financial statements and reports, ensure compliance with local tax regulations with a solid understanding of German tax requirements, and implement and manage accounting systems, and you want to drive real value with them:

• Have you ever led group accounting across multiple jurisdictions while overseeing consolidation under German GAAP and IFRS and managing system migrations such as LucaNet to NetSuite? Join us and dive into the specific challenges that this brings.
• You deliver across group accounting, consolidation, and system implementation. Whether it is overseeing LucaNet and NetSuite operations, implementing Multi-Book and OneWorld in NetSuite, taking ownership of the planned migration of group consolidation from LucaNet to NetSuite, or preparing consolidated financial statements and reports, you feel comfortable solving the puzzle. And if you don’t know how, you are happy to dive right in and learn!
• You design and build scalable and high-impact accounting systems and processes. Your mind naturally maps out how different components connect, and you find satisfaction in delving into the intricacies of system setup, mapping, chart of accounts optimization (with ownership), and process optimization to fine-tune them for accuracy, compliance, and scalability.
• Your curiosity is boundless, and you genuinely love untangling complex problems. You know how to leverage data and analytics to understand financial performance, reporting integrity, and financial planning and analysis. You'll use insights to identify bottlenecks, optimize processes, and ensure robust financial controls across the group.

• You are a master of written communication, producing consolidated financial statements, reports, technical accounting analysis under German GAAP and IFRS, and documenting processes and system mappings with clarity and precision.
• With thorough knowledge of German GAAP and a solid understanding of German tax, combined with fundamental knowledge of NetSuite and basic knowledge of LucaNet for consolidation and migration projects, you have the expertise to lead projects spanning system setup, process mapping, and group consolidation.
• Your judgement and empathy (for both users and peers) ensure that everyone wants to join your projects, while your strong analytical skills and attention to detail allow you to guide complex initiatives with confidence.
• You bring long experience working in tech companies and startups, and at least 7 years of proven experience leading projects.
• You can influence cross-functional teams and work closely with local Senior Accountants to support accounting activities as part of monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, breaking initiatives down into clear roadmaps that systematically deliver value and mitigate risk.
• Your excellent communication skills in English and German, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, mean you can drive initiatives independently while bringing others along with you.

To continue this incredible adventure, we are currently looking for a Director of Finance & Transformation to join our talented Finance team at our Berlin HQ (3 days per week).

Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is a key driver of our finance transformation and technology roadmap. You will shape the strategic direction of the finance organization by designing, building, and scaling highly automated, system-driven accounting, payments, and tax processes that support our growth and asset-centric business model while ensuring full regulatory compliance.This position requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in Accounting, Financial Reporting and System and Process automation of finance processes related to supply chain business and FinOps processes typical for consumer financing. The role initially leads five senior direct reports within accounting, payments and tax. 

Beyond people leadership, the focus is on building scalable structures, integrating finance deeply into core systems, and driving large-scale transformation initiatives rather than maintaining the status quo. You will work closely with the CFO and the broader leadership team on strategic finance topics, company-wide transformation projects, and board-level discussions, representing Finance as a strategic partner and technology-driven enabler of the business.

🎯  What you will contribute:

• Lead and mentor a high-performing Accounting, Payments, and Tax team with a strong focus on system-driven, automated, and scalable finance operations. You foster a culture of excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement - hands-on, not hands-off.
• Design and implement a strategic roadmap for accounting, tax, and financial compliance, ensuring it scales with growth while remaining highly automated, audit-ready, and compliant.
• Champion best practices, drive automation of standard accounting processes, simplify our systems landscape, and ensure appropriate systems support for the financial and processes along the asset and customer lifecycle, which are key to our business model.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in accounting and tax functions, leveraging technology and process automation.
• Partner closely with IT and the Product team to ensure our payment service provider (PSP) setup is best-in-class, cost-efficient, and deeply embedded into our finance processes.
• Oversee financial reporting and compliance under German GAAP (HGB), ensuring timely, accurate, and audit-ready monthly, quarterly, and annual closes. Lead a potential migration to IFRS.
• Establish and monitor a system of internal controls together with the group accounting team and the business functions to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Represent Finance at leadership and board-level discussions, clearly articulating finance technology needs, transformation progress, and strategic trade-offs.

🤝 What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, Chartered Accountant, or similar qualification preferred. Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in accounting, tax, and finance (ideally including payments), within Supply Chain, Consumer Lending or FinTech scale-ups, or other complex, fast-growing environments. (Experience within physical asset business models is a strong plus). Alternatively, a background in Big 4 or top-tier consulting (ideally at Director level) combined with at least one hands-on in-house industry role.
• At least 4 years of direct finance team leadership experience. 
• Experience in a complex finance environment with multiple European entities and deep knowledge of German GAAP and IFRS.
• Proven track record in managing finance transformation projects, including workflow, system & process automation and migration and improvements of ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA or similar) and related projects.
• Technology- and fintech-oriented mindset: you are more “build than run,” thinking like a product owner for finance systems rather than a traditional finance manager.
• Experience or strong interest in AI tooling, agentic AI, and advanced automation applied to finance processes.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, agile environments, with a hands-on mentality and strong ownership mindset.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience engaging with senior leadership and boards.
• Fluent in both German and English (C1 minimum).
