About the Role

The Ground System Deployments team is looking for an innovative, collaborative and self-driven Civil Project Engineer to join the team to ensure the successful deployment of Zipline’s Ground Systems in all possible applications and configurations. 

This role is well suited to seasoned civil engineers looking to apply their experience designing novel and innovative sites, foundations and structures to advance and accelerate the new and growing industry of  autonomous drone delivery ground systems. 

With broad scope to influence the design of current and next generation systems this role will jopin a stellar team responsible for the site level designs, layouts, civil designs, structural and foundation designs and implementation. Interacting with various mechanical, structural and electrical engineering stakeholders across the organization this role will  ensure the overall system and its site design work hand in hand to ensure the successful deployment of Ziplines Ground Systems within cost and timeline goals. 

This role has a mandate to drive positive change through the organization - as problems or scenarios occur this individual will be tasked with both 0 to 1 problem/project responsibility and also working with the broad engineering and deployments organization to implement foundation changes to product and process as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Act as the Civil Engineer of Record for Zipline projects in Texas and other jurisdictions
• Create, refine and update civil layouts for the sites. Act as the Zipline representative for any technical clarifications from cities or jurisdictions regarding our designs. 
• Contribute to the civil and site design standards of Zipline sites.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Civil Professional Engineering qualification with stamping capacity in Texas (or the ability to quickly obtain stamping capacity in Texas). Ability to stamp in Arizona and other sunbelt states a strong preference, or the ability and capacity to quickly gain this qualification.

Project Leadership:

As a Senior Software Engineer II focusing on Computational Geometry & BIM at ICON, you will be responsible for developing and architecting the pre-print, computational geometry software platform for ICON's construction printing systems. This role is based on site at our Austin, TX HQ Campus and will report to our Director of Software Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the design and implementation of new features and products to support our BuildOS design platform
• Architect and develop cutting-edge geometric algorithms that unlock the potential of ICON 3D printing technology
• Build and maintain internal tools to help visualize, instrument and debug the 3D printing process
• Partner with Architects, Structural Engineers and Building Scientists to convert architectural plans to highly efficient and structurally sound path-planning algorithms
• Work closely with R&D engineers to perfect print quality across ICON's lineup of devices and materials
• Create robust software integrations with 3rd party CAD and CAM software
• Design and develop BIM automation tooling to streamline architectural workflows and extract design intelligence from building models
• Lead exploration and prototyping of AI-driven design approaches for generative design, design optimization, and intelligent automation of construction planning
• Build systems that bridge architectural intent with manufacturing constraints through computational design
• Drive technical standards and best practices for computational geometry systems

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 8+ years of professional experience as a software engineer with demonstrated technical leadership
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Proven ability to work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders to rapidly analyze and reduce large requirements into small deliverables
• Strong experience building platforms, micro-services, and APIs at scale
• Track record of architecting complex systems and making sound technical decisions
• A willingness to accept failure, learn and try again, and an open mind to try solutions that may seem impossible at first

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Generate and execute comprehensive test plans and specimen designs that meet structural testing objectives and regulatory requirements for ICON's 3D printed systems under the direction of the program or project manager.
• Support the coordination and design of test logistics including lifting procedures, shipping methods, and test fixture and setup requirements to ensure successful testing

ICON is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Sr. Regulatory Affairs Project Manager, MILCON to advance regulatory acceptance and business development across federal government and national security sectors, including the Department of Defense (DoD) and US national security agencies. Reporting to the Regulatory Program Manager, you'll execute public sector regulatory efforts, build critical relationships with government agencies, and expand the regulatory framework necessary to position ICON's 3D-printed construction technology as the government's construction technology of choice. You'll serve as the primary regulatory contact for government customers, federal agencies, ICON’s customers and support technology product development, directly contributing to establishing a self-supporting public sector business unit. This role is based in Austin, TX.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute public sector regulatory efforts by aligning regulatory pathways with government building codes and standards. Accelerate adoption of concrete 3D-printed construction across federal and state agencies, DoD military construction (MILCON), and intelligence community customers. 
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with federal technical groups —including USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, and other federal regulatory bodies—through presentations, and technical engagement.
• Support business development requests preparing technical proposals, delivering customer technical presentations, and technical demonstrations as needed..
