We are building out a new research function at the intersection of artificial intelligence and quantitative trading to improve the efficiency of execution algo models and more, and we are looking for a Junior Quantitative Researcher to be a founding member of this effort. You will work alongside senior quants, engineers, and traders to design AI-driven workflows that generate alpha signals, diagnose model and PnL behavior, and deepen our understanding of market microstructure.
This is a high-ownership role suited to someone who is genuinely excited about markets, has a strong research background, and is already building with modern AI tooling — including LLM-based agents. We are open to hiring at the fresh-PhD level, provided you can demonstrate research depth and a real interest in trading.
Signal research and construction. Develop, test, and productionize predictive signals across asset classes using a combination of statistical methods, machine learning, and AI agent–driven research workflows. Take ideas from hypothesis through backtest, validation, and deployment.
Root cause analysis (RCA). Investigate model behavior, signal decay, PnL attribution, and unexpected trading outcomes. Build tools — including agentic ones — that accelerate diagnosis and shorten the loop between observation and fix.
Market microstructure research. Study order book dynamics, execution costs, liquidity, and venue behavior to inform both signal design and execution strategy.
AI agent infrastructure for research. Help design and extend internal agentic systems that automate parts of the research pipeline — data exploration, hypothesis generation, backtest configuration, results summarization, and report drafting.
Collaborate broadly. Work closely with traders, engineers, and other researchers to turn ideas into live, monitored strategies.

About the Role
We are seeking a Research Data Scientist who combines rigorous research thinking with a drive to see findings land in production. You will conduct original research in generative AI and LLMs applied to crypto-native problems — spanning reasoning under uncertainty, agent reliability in adversarial financial environments, and multi-modal market intelligence.
This is a research-first role at the intersection of three critical frontiers: post-training alignment and reasoning for financial agents, efficient inference and test-time scaling, and multi-agent coordination in open, adversarial environments. The goal is real-world impact — not just papers, but agents that trade, analyze, and act for millions of users.
You formulate research questions, design rigorous experiments, build evaluation frameworks, and collaborate with engineers to bring research into production.
Conduct original research in generative AI and large language models applied to crypto and financial domains — with focus areas including reasoning under market uncertainty, alignment of trading agents, multi-agent coordination, and test-time scaling for time-critical decisions
Design and execute rigorous experiments — formulating clear hypotheses, implementing model and training variants including RLVR-based reasoning approaches, running systematic ablations, and drawing statistically sound conclusions
Develop novel post-training methodologies and evaluation frameworks for LLMs operating in crypto contexts — covering chain-of-thought quality for market analysis, agent decision consistency, and robustness against adversarial prompt injection
Research test-time scaling techniques — process reward models, self-consistency, Monte Carlo Tree Search-based planning — and apply them to improve agent reasoning quality in ambiguous, fast-moving market conditions
Critically track developments across the research community at NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, and crypto-adjacent venues — identifying high-leverage opportunities to apply state-of-the-art techniques to Binance's unique challenges
Master's or PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field strongly preferred; exceptional Bachelor's candidates with demonstrable research output will be considered
0–5 years of research or industry experience in ML/AI; strong academic lab or research internship experience equally valued
Deep understanding of transformer architectures, large language model pretraining dynamics, and post-training methodology — including the shift from RLHF toward RLVR-based reasoning model training
Proficiency in Python and PyTorch, Critically, you work in an AI-native way — using vibe coding practices with tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot Workspace as your primary development workflow
Rigorous mathematical foundations: linear algebra, probability theory, information theory, stochastic processes, and numerical optimization
Bilingual English/Mandarin is required to be able to coordinate with overseas partners and stakeholders

You'll work directly on the AI systems powering Binance AI Products and next-generation agentic trading features — alongside the full-time algorithm team, on real production challenges.
You own deliverables, run experiments, and ship code that matters. You build components of AI systems (agents, pipelines, evaluation tools), debug real systems, and work with engineers to ship features that reach users.

Apply AI-native development practices using agentic coding tools as a standard part of the engineering workflow — writing and executing Python code for strategy logic, data pipelines, and agent evaluation.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related technical field.
Expected graduation in 2026 or 2027.
Strong Python programming skills with demonstrated AI-native development practices — you use agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot Workspace) as a core part of your workflow.
Foundational understanding of how large language models work — attention mechanisms, prompting, and the difference between standard generation and reasoning models.
