About the Role: 

AFS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Cloud Native Applications & DevSecOps (DSOP), including automation, cloud services, container orchestration & software development. This role requires a strong foundation in Linux engineering with skills in containerization technologies, CICD, and experience working in public and private clouds. The candidate will have a proven track record in automating software deployments and implementing solutions to accelerate release cycles. This role’s core responsibility revolves around empowering development teams with a robust platform that streamlines processes and enhances collaboration. 

Core Responsibilities: 

• Implement, maintain, and support build, integration & test, and deployment pipelines, utilizing tools such as Kubernetes, Gitlab, ArgoCD, etc, across hybrid cloud computing environments. 

• Read and understand various application programming interfaces (APIs) and implement automation as required. 

• Develop & Improve automation for efficient deployment and management of cloud resources using tools such as Terraform, Ansible. 

• Integrate security and compliance into the platform by implementing services such as encryption and access management to meet DISA STIGs compliance with security standards and policies across hybrid containerized environments. 

• Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. 

• Assist development teams with implementing containerized deployments utilizing tools such as Kustomize, Helm and Docker/Podman. 

• Account for disaster recovery scenarios, implement & test backup and recovery procedures. 

• Monitor the environment for performance metrics and alerts, identify bottlenecks and implement effective solutions. 

• Stay abreast of latest DevSecOps and Cloud Native technologies and work with stakeholders to recommend more efficient solutions. 

Required Skills & Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience with a minimum of 3 years' direct experience in a DevSecOps role or related experience. 

• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix Administration. 

• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes. 

• Proficient in one or more computer programming languages commonly used in scripting & automation. Such as, but not limited to Bash, Python, Go, Rust 

• Demonstrated experience in automating cloud deployments and developing infrastructure as code (IaC). 

• Possess and maintain relevant DoD 8570/8140 IAT level II Certification. 

Amazing to Have: 

• Familiarity with open-source tooling, contributing to open-source tools, ability to find root cause and open useful issues. 

• Prior experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Consul, Linkerd) 

• Background in VMWARE vSphere and Amazon Web Services (AWS) 

• Proficient in applying DISA STIGs within cloud and containerized environments. 

• Possess one or more of the following certifications:

The UAS Chief Engineer provides technical leadership, strategic direction, and execution oversight for the design, development, integration, and sustainment of advanced additively manufacturing unmanned systems. This role is responsible for end-to-end system engineering across air, ground, maritime, and/or multi-domain unmanned platforms, ensuring mission effectiveness, survivability, cybersecurity resilience, and compliance with applicable defense standards and regulations. The Chief Engineer serves as the primary technical authority for their assigned platform or product area, guiding cross-functional engineering teams, aligning technical roadmaps with customer requirements, and ensuring delivery of high-performance, secure, and reliable systems within cost and schedule constraints. The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $119,853 to $149,817 regardless of final candidate location within the United States. As a Senior MuleSoft Engineer, you will design and deliver API-led integration solutions on Anypoint Platform — directly with clients, from discovery through go-live. You'll drive architecture decisions, protect margin through scope discipline, and build the kind of trusted client relationships that turn one engagement into many.

What You'll Own

You will be the technical owner of your client engagements — not a resource assigned to a ticket queue. That means:

Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery

• Lead technical design, implementation, and deployment of large-scale MuleSoft integration and API solutions (CloudHub 2.0, Runtime Fabric, Anypoint MQ, Flex Gateway, or on-prem).
• Develop and maintain DataWeave scripts, Mule flows, and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Enforce architectural and security standards (RAML/OAS, OAuth2, JWT, TLS, encryption).
• Monitor and optimize integrations for performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Required Qualifications

• Client-Facing Ownership: Proven track record of managing client relationships through the full engagement lifecycle — including difficult scope and change-order conversations that preserve both trust and margin.
• API & Microservices Architecture: Expert in designing, implementing, and maintaining distributed, scalable API-led solutions using MuleSoft and industry-standard patterns.
