This is a fully remote role based in Germany, reporting to the Solutions Specialist Director within the Global Speciality Sales Organisation. As a member of the Core GTM Team, the Principal Specialist Sales Engineer's role is to be the lead technical team member when it comes to Data Security in their Area/Region. Working with their Account Executive team they will work closely with the Core Sales team in order to showcase product value and work with the Product and Engineering teams to drive innovation.

Principal Quality Engineer 

Role Summary 

As Principal Quality Engineer based in Aachen, you are the technical authority for quality across our optical product line and regional quality lead for European operations. You will bridge HQ (San Jose) and the Aachen manufacturing site, drive quality integration for in-house optical manufacturing, lead supplier quality for regional semiconductor and optical vendors, and support Asia-based RMA activities for in-region products. 

Key Responsibilities 

Quality‑System Integration: Lead ISO 9001 alignment between San Jose HQ, Aachen, and other regional locations to harmonize procedures, audit schedules, and corrective action processes across both semiconductor and optical product lines. 

Process Development & Implementation: Design, document, and roll out new quality processes, procedures, and work instructions needed to support emerging photonics products and manufacturing capabilities. 

In‑Process Inspection & Controls: Oversee in‑process inspection activities for the in‑house manufacturing operation, establishing SPC, go/no‑go checkpoints, and real‑time defect‑tracking dashboards. 

Supplier Quality (Optics): Provide technical support and quality assurance for optical‑component and optical‑coating suppliers; conduct supplier audits, and drive corrective‑preventive actions (CAPA). 

Supplier Quality (Semiconductor): Serve as the regional point of contact for semiconductor suppliers, monitoring supplier performance, assisting with supplier audits, and leading issue resolution. 

Product Quality: Core Semiconductor Business – Lead technical investigation of field returns, warranty claims, and reliability failures for semiconductor and optical products; coordinate 8D root-cause analysis and interface with Field Application Engineers (FAEs).  

Cross‑Site Liaison: Act as the primary conduit between the Aachen site, other European/EMEA sites, and the San Jose HQ for quality information exchange, escalation handling, and best‑practice sharing. 

Metrics & Reporting:  Define, track, and report key quality KPIs (PPM, DPMO, warranty cost, MTBF, supplier defect rate, etc.) to senior leadership across the BU and corporate HQ.

When we need a new work stream spun up from scratch — a brand new team, an ambiguous problem space, aggressive timelines — you're the person who makes that happen.

The competitive landscape is intense. Fast-moving AI-native startups are coming hard for this space, shipping aggressively and going after the same deals we are. We need someone who thrives under that pressure, who can maintain technical excellence while moving at startup speed within a company that has the resources and customer base to make that speed count.

What will you do?

• Partner at the strategic pillar level. You'll have broad context across work streams and use that to inform technical strategy and investment priorities. What should we care about? Where should we invest? Where do you need to step in? These are your decisions.
• Spin up 0-to-1 work streams. Bring together engineers who've never worked as a team, disambiguate the problem space, build momentum under aggressive timelines, set high expectations, and drive execution.
• Execute on the most ambiguous, highest-stakes problems. You're hands-on. You write code, you ship features, you're deep in the weeds. We've seen too many Principal Engineers who are brilliant but too far from execution to be effective here.
• Lead experimental work at the AI frontier. Run your own A/B tests, do prompt engineering, build evals, and calibrate accuracy, cost, and latency for LLM-powered features. Much of what we're building are new paradigms for customer-facing software.
• Shape long-term technical strategy through execution. Your hands-on work informs the architecture. You're simultaneously building and thinking about what needs to change about how we build products — data models, system design, the shift from GUI-first to agent-first interfaces.
• Work across the full stack in an AI-first development environment. Every engineer has Claude Code with unlimited tokens and a sophisticated ecosystem of MCP servers, skills, and shared context. You'll push the boundaries of what's possible with AI-assisted development and help shape how the entire engineering org works.
• Raise the bar for the people around you. Give direct, actionable feedback that changes outcomes. We don't need someone who mentors juniors on the basics — we need someone who can accelerate and grow the senior and staff engineers around them.

What are we looking for?

The core requirement: engineering depth and product thinking. We need someone who combines deep engineering ability with strong product and design instincts — not one or the other. We don't want engineers who are technically brilliant but disconnected from the product. And we don't want product-minded engineers who have great instincts but can't execute at the level this work demands. You need to be able to both build complex systems AND identify the right problems to solve. This is the single most important dimension we evaluate on.

Beyond that:

• Operated at real scale and has builder energy. You've likely spent time at companies operating at significant scale — the kind of environment where you've seen what large-scale distributed systems actually look like in production. But you also have startup DNA: urgency, resourcefulness, a bias toward building over discussing.
• AI fluency. You're actively experimenting with AI-assisted development, pushing the boundaries of what's possible, and forming opinions about how it changes the way teams build software. This matters more than any specific stack experience.
• Deep technical depth with breadth. You can go deep into the weeds on at least one technical domain, but you also navigate complex multi-team systems with ease. In conversation, you move fluidly from business context to technical strategy to implementation details.
• Communication as a superpower. You can explain to leadership why a technical investment matters, align multiple teams around a complex project, and then walk an engineer through the gnarly implementation details. This role lives and dies on your ability to communicate across every level.
• Extreme autonomy. You partner with the Engineering Director on where you think the pillar needs to go next. You identify problems, form convictions, and act on them. If you're the kind of engineer who waits to be told what to work on, this isn't the right role.

What You’ll Do

System Architecture and Framework Design

• Own the end-to-end architecture of AI automation systems: workflow decomposition, component communication, human checkpoint placement, and failure behaviour.
• Design and build the internal CLI frameworks, reusable libraries, and agent scaffolding that all pipelines are built on.
• Author and maintain agent instruction files (SKILL.md, CLAUDE.md, system prompts), context configurations, and MCP server definitions that govern agent behaviour and tool access.
• Configure and govern AI coding environments such as Claude Code and Codex CLI: wiring MCP servers, defining tool permissions, building slash commands, and setting the engineering standards the team operates by.

• Own output schema design and prompt regression testing: define format contracts downstream stages depend on, validate against them, and maintain a ground-truth eval set that gates every instruction or model change before deployment.

Context Engineering, Knowledge, and Domain Collaboration

• Engineer context windows with precision: determine what enters each pipeline stage, in what order, and at what granularity — balancing model comprehension and task accuracy against token cost and latency through compression, summarisation, and selective retrieval where needed.
• Work directly with domain experts to extract specialist knowledge and translate it into agent behaviour: decision logic, edge case handling, quality criteria, and failure modes.
• Partner with the RAG Engineer to define retrieval requirements — what knowledge is needed, under what conditions, at what granularity — ensuring retrieved context is precise and actionable.

• Experience designing, building, and deploying MCP servers and custom tools from scratch: tool schema design, authentication, permission boundaries, and governing what agents can access and act on.

The role

We are looking for a Principal Engineer (JetBrains Cloud Platform, Developer Experience) to drive large-scale improvements to the development experience across the JCP.

This role focuses on making JCP engineers faster and more productive by improving build systems, CI/CD pipelines, local development workflows, tooling infrastructure, and AI pipelines. You will own the developer experience end to end – from how engineers develop, build, and test locally to how code moves through CI and reaches production. Why this role is exciting

As a (Principal) Senior C++ Engineer in the Remote Driving Platform team, you will work on the foundational software stack that powers Vay’s driverless fleet. This is the layer that everything else depends on: health management, telemetry, safety integrations, compute performance, and the core platform enabling safe operation on public roads without a safety driver.

You will operate at the intersection of software architecture, performance engineering, and hardware evaluation, shaping the compute backbone of our remote driving system. Your work directly impacts safety, scalability, and our ability to deploy and operate thousands of vehicles globally.

Owning the platform means owning reliability, performance, and developer velocity across the organization. The scope is deep, highly technical, and critical to Vay’s long term success.

The role 

We’re seeking an exceptional Principal Application SW Engineer to join our Japan-based within the Application Software team, focused on localising and advancing Wayve’s autonomous driving technology for the Japanese market. This is a unique opportunity to play a hands-on role in shaping our AV capabilities in Japan from the ground up.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the bring-up and early validation of our AI software stack on customer hardware platforms, ensuring seamless performance across diverse SoCs and operating systems. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across Verification, Release, and OEM partners to ensure smooth integration and reliable delivery.

Key responsibilities:

• Execute software bring-up on customer hardware platforms (e.g. NVIDIA Drive, Qualcomm Ride).
• Port and configure Linux-based systems, QNX, and Adaptive AUTOSAR environments.
• Integrate and validate drivers, middleware, and boot-time configurations.
• Collaborate with Verification & Release teams to integrate hardware into CI/CD, HIL, and test infrastructure.
• Work with OEM and Tier 1 teams to resolve hardware-specific integration issues.
• Implement system-level diagnostics, logging, and secure boot configuration.
• Develop automation for setup, flashing, health checks, and test execution on target hardware.

About you  

In order to set you up for success at Wayve, we’re looking for the following skills and experience.  

• 8+ years of experience in embedded or automotive software development, ideally with hands-on platform bring-up experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++, Bash, and Python.
  Deep understanding of Linux-based embedded systems (Yocto, systemd, bootloaders, device trees).
• Familiarity with QNX and Adaptive AUTOSAR environments and the ability to configure and debug them on target hardware.
  Experience with bring-up on automotive-grade SoCs (e.g., NVIDIA Orin, Qualcomm SA8295/SA8650, Renesas, TI).
• Comfortable working with hardware debuggers, flashing tools, serial consoles, and board support packages (BSPs).
• Familiarity with communication protocols like CAN, Ethernet, PCIe, SPI, I2C.
• Hands-on experience integrating embedded platforms into CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks.
• No Japanese language required. 

Desired 

• Exposure to automotive verification environments (e.g., HIL systems, Vector toolchains, custom CI rigs).
• Experience working in a safety-critical domain with an understanding of ISO 26262, boot-time determinism, and watchdogs.
• Understanding of secure boot, OTA updates, and system-level cybersecurity topics.
• Familiarity with Docker, Jenkins, Git, and artifact management tools like JFrog Artifactory.

This is a full-time role based in our office in Tokyo - we offer relocation package and visa sponsorship.
