As a Hardware Interaction Designer at Nothing, you’ll be central to shaping the how our products work and feel, and so we are also looking for:

• An intuitive conviction about how things should work - you’re probably frustrated by bad systems and interfaces all the time and know how to make them better.
• Experience in designing interaction systems which intersect hardware, software, and the invisible connective tissue between them.
• A hunger to build stuff - not just on screen, but IRL.
• Multi-modal thinking - buttons, screens, sound, voice, apps, light, motion, haptics. We design full-body product experiences which touch (nearly) every sense. 
• An appetite to imagine, research, conceive, specify and pitch new features, systems or whole product concepts.

T Brand, the content studio of New York Times Advertising, crafts award-winning multimedia branded storytelling about the interesting people, incredible places and inspirational ideas of today. Our international team is based in London, Paris and Singapore and creates content for global advertisers to tell meaningful stories for New York Times audiences.

T Brand Studio International is seeking an enthusiastic and highly-motivated Senior Designer, based in London, to join our international design and development team. Reporting to our Creative Director, you will be part of the international studio, working alongside our advertising team of creatives, developers, strategists and program managers. In this role, you will lead the visual ideas, design execution and delivery of innovative multi-platform experiences across all New York Times channels from the pitch phase — where you will be supporting the Sales team on new businesses - to the production and launch of your creative work.

As a design and visual champion, you will take inspiration from the newsroom's storytelling and multimedia expertise to create compelling projects that help brands engage, persuade and inform audiences across The New York Times. You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day visual development and delivery of advertising campaigns, ensuring work is designed at high standards across digital, video, audio, social and print. Responsibilities:

• Take full ownership of design ideas and execution of large-scale international 360 campaigns, ensuring high quality visual storytelling across digital, social, video and print.

• Design and build presentations, decks and advertising mock-ups for client pitches.

• Confidently present and communicate design ideas to clients and internal stakeholders (sellers, program managers, strategists, editors and audience experts), translating client KPIs into elegant and high-end visual storytelling solutions.

• Collaborate closely with the editorial team to help translate their ideas into engaging webpages, interactive articles, and other visual storytelling.

• Work closely with our internationally-based Developer to ensure accurate and efficient build of digital designs across platforms. Also, lead and execute page builds for projects using Webflow.

• Identify and manage project deliverables from external talent — including illustrators, photographers and motion designers — to expand our creative vendor network.

• Proactively identify and implement solutions to improve our design processes and workflows.

• Develop and employ a deep understanding of NYT Advertising products, as well as newsroom and T Brand Studio standards.

Basic Qualifications:

• A strong portfolio of brand work that demonstrates high-quality design and attention to detail, a refined sense of craft, typography, pacing and visual hierarchy.

• Strong working knowledge of HTML/CSS for front-end styling; proficiency in Webflow is preferred for building pages and supporting team workflows.

About the Role

The Travel Mode Team

Travel Mode is a startup-style team operating within Tripadvisor. Our mission: Find market fit for a new product geared toward travelers who are in-destination. We move quickly. We embrace AI. We are looking for an ambitious Senior Product Designer who specializes in native (IOS and Android) to join our team, help drive our hypothesis-based roadmap and play a major role in defining the vision for our initial MVP.

What you’ll do

• Define Process: Co-own the end-to-end design process for Travel Mode within our iOS and Android apps, from discovery and abstract problem-solving to high-fidelity final treatments.
• Drive Experimentation: Work within a rapid experimentation culture, leveraging testing and mobile-specific analytics to guide iterative design decisions.
• Define Mobile Strategy: Shape and communicate a clear vision for the MVP, balancing "big-picture" strategic goals with hands-on execution.
• Simplify Complexity: Partner with Product and Engineering to turn complex guidance data, community contributions, and marketplace logistics into simple, "one-tap" mobile solutions.
• Native First: Champion user-centered design and lead the way in defining features and functionality that are uniquely native leveraging haptics, motion, location-services and interaction quality to ensure the app feels premium and responsive.

What you have

• Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making in day-to-day work.
• Proven ability to operate effectively with a global-first mindset
• Extensive Mobile Expertise: 5+ years of experience shipping native mobile products. You have a deep understanding of platform-specific behaviors and know how to leverage them to create intuitive interfaces.
• Exceptional Design Craft: A portfolio showcasing high-quality, production-ready mobile experiences. You have a passion for the "last 5%" of polish - transitions, feedback, and visual hierarchy.
• Collaborative Leadership: A proven history of partnering with engineers to ship high-performance features, with a solid grasp of technical constraints for native platforms.
• Strategic Communication: Impactful communication skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity, explain the “why” behind your work to stakeholders, and mentor the broader team.
• User-Centric Mindset: A background in using research, data, and "jobs-to-be-done" frameworks to advocate for the user and remove friction from the journey.
• Platform Knowledge: Deep familiarity with iOS and Android conventions, staying up to date with the latest trends and capabilities in the mobile landscape.
