ABOUT THE JOB

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be a player-coach leading a high-caliber engineering team building advanced platforms. Depending on your area of ownership, you may lead one or more teams across domains including Control Plane (edge/cloud compute), Dev/Sec Ops, Data Platform & Governance, High Scale Event Processing (hundreds of billions of events per day), Mobile Platforms, SRE & Operations, or Radar Platform (our core web/cloud customer experience). ABOUT YOU

At RADAR, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The expected base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000. As a Staff Autonomy Engineer on our R&D team, you'll be one of the technical leaders setting direction for the AI that powers our robots. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you'll architect systems that span perception, mapping, prediction, and planning; drive multi-quarter initiatives from research idea to fleet rollout; and raise the technical bar across the org. • Set technical direction for major areas of the autonomy stack — perception, SLAM, prediction, planning, or the ML systems underneath them — and own the multi-quarter roadmaps that follow.
• Lead large, ambiguous projects end-to-end: scope the problem, pick the approach, drive execution across multiple engineers, and ship to the fleet.
• Make and defend the build-vs-borrow, learn-vs-classical, and depth-vs-breadth decisions that shape what the team works on for the next year.

About the Role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Product Integration and Test team, which is critical for turning individual, stand-alone components from various teams into a single, cohesive autonomous product.

This position will help the team execute effectively through technical guidance, mentoring, collaboration with other platform teams, integration into broader systems, testing, and configuration management. You will be responsible for maintaining and executing the technical roadmap of multiple products, starting with an All-Domain Collaborative Autonomy product.

About the Team: 

The Sensors Division at STR focuses on technology development for advanced sensor systems and platforms in support of national security. We have a particular focus on airborne/surface/space based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing. We work on full system prototypes, experiment campaigns, and next generation technology components. Specific technical areas include RF analog/digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing algorithms, machine learning algorithms, tracking/fusion, autonomous systems, as well as real-time embedded processor implementation. 

The Systems Autonomy, Analysis, and Modeling (SAAM) Group within the Sensors Division uses modeling and simulation (M&S) to analyze system capabilities, develop enabling algorithms, and take these integrated systems through test. We focus on the capabilities and limitations of ground, air, surface, and space sensing and counter sensing platforms and the resource management of these assets to assure the survivability of US air and space assets. WHAT YOU'LL DO

In your first 30 days, you will:

• Learn Radar’s mission, technology stack and core values.
• Complete onboarding and security compliance training.
• Understand the fundamentals of Radar’s RFID system (RF, PHY, MAC and localization).

In your first 60 days, you will:

• Understand how to collect system performance data (lab and/or simulation).
• Take ownership for the development of a low-level performance analysis.
• Be able to compile, configure and run the C++ PHY layer simulator.

In your first 90 days, you will:

• Complete the performance analysis of a low-level PHY or MAC algorithm in Radar’s automated test environment.
• Make improvements to the utility of Radar’s C++ PHY layer simulator.

At RADAR, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The expected base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $175,000 . Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors,  including job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, life and disability benefits, 401k plan,  flexible time off, and paid parental leave. The pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

Alarm.com is a rapidly expanding technology company developing innovative cloud and device solutions across a wide range of cutting-edge technologies that provide a unified, connected service to millions of residential and commercial properties in the US and abroad.  We are looking for a talented and passionate Embedded Software Engineer for the Device Engineering team to help us define the future of the Internet-of-Things for residential and commercial properties by creating and integrating devices including security panels, networking gateways, and video cameras.  You will be working with a team of talented engineers across a diverse set of technological backgrounds to design devices, build and manufacture hardware, architect and implement software, and collaborate in an agile and fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience with embedded software development with Linux platforms.
• Experience with board support packages, Linux kernel and drivers, and hardware bring-up.
• Experience with C/C++ coding following scalable and efficient software architecture and design principles.
• Familiarity with hardware peripherals such as UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, etc.
• Experience with cross-compilation and development frameworks in platforms and environments such as Yocto, buildroot, OpenWRT, or Android.
• Understanding of electronics and ability to read circuit schematics.
• Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.

Responsibilities:

• Work with other Engineers to develop board support packages, platform frameworks, and embedded Linux applications using C/C++.
• Work with Electrical and Mechanical engineers to design and manufacture embedded Linux devices.
• Work with Software Engineers to design and implement features that interact with the cloud.
• Work with Product Managers and quality engineers to ensure the products meet Alarm.com's standards.
• Communicate effectively and collaborate with others to ensure the timely delivery of projects.
