About the Team:
The Sensors Division at STR focuses on technology development for advanced sensor systems and platforms in support of national security requirements. Our particular focus areas include airborne/spaceborne/surface-based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing. To support these missions, the Division’s efforts span multiple technical areas, including RF analog/digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing algorithms, machine learning algorithms, systems analysis, and real-time embedded processor implementation.
The Algorithms, Processing and Experimentation (APEX) Group specializes in development of RF/radar modes, skills and applications, with particular emphasis on advanced signal processing chains and associated algorithm research. We mature these technologies with the objective of implementation, integration, and eventual utility in RF-based systems, typically tailoring our work for highly specific Defense (e.g., Air Force, Space Force, Navy, DARPA, etc.) and Intelligence Community needs.

As a Principal Signal Processing Researcher, you will create and lead technical teams that develop, test, integrate, and demonstrate novel signal processing, optimization, and machine learning algorithms for advanced electronic warfare and sensor applications.
A successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills and substantial expertise in several of the following areas: optimization, electronic warfare, adaptive signal processing, machine learning, algorithm development, algorithm integration, test & evaluation, model & simulation, systems engineering, radar systems, or communications systems. The Systems Development Division (SDD) within STR delivers technology advantage into users’ hands and is seeking a Principal Radar Systems Engineer to support/lead the architecting, design, development, and implementation of radar systems that meet challenging customer needs. You will collaborate with fellow researchers and engineers on multi-disciplinary teams to interpret and understand customer objectives and develop innovative solutions. You may direct and/or lead development efforts and junior engineers, as needed, in areas of focus including exploration and demonstration of Radar and EW/RF convergence. As a Systems Engineer, you will apply a broad perspective and understanding of the elements that comprise a complete, functioning radar system to architect solutions, be directly involved with implementing the solutions (hands-on engineering), and guide teams spanning software, hardware, integration and test. You should have experience defining leading teams, architecting complete radar systems, and working across the Systems Engineering Lifecycle, with familiarity in Digital Engineering/MBSE.
Strong interpersonal, communication, technical, and peer-leadership skills are required. Applicants are expected to be self-motivated, detail oriented and have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team through strong written and verbal communication skills. What you will do:
- Researching, understanding, and leading new RF sensing implementations for advanced radar solutions. Identifying new technical approaches and working with program and technical leadership to implement these approaches.
- Decomposing customer needs/complex problems and developing system concepts and solutions.
- Effectively using tools to create, evaluate, and document solutions and clearly communicate the solution to the team, STR management, and customers, which may include generating system models in Cameo.
- Designing, directing, and when necessary, implementing cutting-edge technology in multi-function radar systems.
- Conducting performance analysis through simulations and real-world testing to validate and optimize radar performance.
- Ensuring appropriate level of rigor is applied to achieve systems that meet customer needs.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, specifications and architectures for radars, and ensure seamless integration and interoperability of the system.
- Development and specification of simulation tools to facilitate test and verification of radar software and hardware components.
Who you are:
- This position requires an Active Secret security clearance, and ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) clearance with eligibility to support special access programs (SAP), for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government.
- Expert understanding of and experience with entire radar systems and their principles of design, development, requirements verification, test planning, test execution, data analysis, and operations support.
- In-depth knowledge of how to implement radar modes, including transmit and receive waveform generation and signal processing.
- Proficiency in radar simulation tools and MATLAB.
- Experience in preparing and delivering high-level briefings to customers and senior management. Interacting with decision-makers and customers to translate mission needs into an end-to-end solution.
- Familiarity with the execution of technical reviews (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMs).
- Demonstrated experience in leadership and delivery of advanced development projects.
- Minimum of 10 years work experience as a Radar Systems Engineer.
- Background should include a Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of applicable experience directly related to development and deployment of radar systems; Master’s degree and at least 8 years of applicable experience; or PhD and at least 5 years of applicable experience. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Even Better:
- 5+ years experience working with SysML models in Cameo (or similar tool).
- Experience working with software-intensive systems and open architecture.
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Python).

As a Program Manager you will coordinate the execution of software development efforts across multiple teams where you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting for complex software development projects targeting real-time RF sensor systems. You will work closely with Principal Investigators, Chief Engineers, and technical staff to ensure successful delivery of capabilities to sponsors.
As the Operations Lead you will coordinate, organize, and oversee execution of support activities across the full portfolio on programs within the RAID Group. This will include assisting with financial planning and metrics tracking, staff allocation, security and IT support coordination and other cross-organization collaboration.

- Coordinate software development projects across multiple programs within the RAID portfolio
- Develop and maintain Integrated Master Schedules and track program execution

The Role:
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead technical teams developing real-time software for advanced RF sensor systems. You will architect software solutions compliant with open architecture standards, lead the transition of algorithms from concept to real-time implementation, and mentor junior engineers.

The Sensors Division at STR focuses on technology development for advanced sensor systems and platforms in support of national security requirements. The Role:
As a Lead Program Manager (PM) in the EWNC group, we are looking for a leader who is passionate about collaborative problem solving and working on the hardest national security problems. The PM will support other PMs managing a portfolio of research and development programs, specifically focused on delivering novel capabilities to a motivated customer. This work includes managing all program phases, from marketing to proposal development, from contract initiation to execution, and from program close-out to transition. The PM will also support business operations across the portfolio to enable successful execution. The PM will likely play critical roles in supporting multiple efforts in Sensors and potentially in other Divisions at STR as a Program Manager and/or Deputy Program Manager.
This role will take advantage of STR’s flexible, hybrid environment – when the work does not require use of STR’s facilities, you are welcome to work remotely.
