OVERVIEW:

The Product Safety & Compliance Engineer LATAM will have a direct partnership with our regional product team, certification partners, and product management team for all aspects of regulatory compliance and product certification. The candidate will be responsible for leading multiple certification projects from product concept to mass production, ensuring that all market access requirements are met and that product designs employ appropriate risk mitigation solutions.

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Regulatory Compliance Engineer III with a background in nuclear operations. In this role, you will collaborate with engineering operations, site integration, design, safety analysis, and licensing teams to develop facility operating solutions that align with Kairos Power’s Mission and comply with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations, license conditions and licensing commitments.  Additionally, you will be a key interface for communications between Kairos Power facility operations and the NRC staff providing oversight of the facility.

• Provide regulatory guidance and support to the operations team to develop facility operation strategies and implement programs and procedures and to ensure compliance with NRC regulations, license conditions and commitments is maintained.

The Inventory Management System (IMS) team is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Engineer to join our efforts in designing, building, and commissioning high-temperature skids for molten salt systems.  In this role, you will contribute to the development of critical process systems for the Hermes reactor, our first-of-a-kind low-power nuclear demonstration reactor. As a key member of the IMS team, you will assist in designing, commissioning, and operating components to manage and control the reactor’s molten salt coolant inventory. The position requires an aptitude for chemical engineering, systems integration, and industrial or pilot-scale system deployment. You will collaborate closely with mechanical design, plant layout, piping, instrumentation, and operations teams to integrate and optimize these systems. 

Responsibilities  

• Support design of high temperature piping loops, vessels, heaters, and instruments to manage the Hermes molten salt coolant inventory.
• Perform engineering calculations to support defining hydraulic, thermal, or other design parameters such as pipe size, required pump head, heat loss, hydraulic losses in a pipe loop, etc.

• Experience leading cross-functional projects or mentoring junior engineers and technicians is preferred.
• Experience with manual and CNC machining operations is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of EBW processes, high-vacuum systems, and high-voltage equipment operation
• Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering and assembly drawings, including weld symbols and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
• Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and AWS structural welding standards
• Skilled in using CAD software such as SolidWorks for part modeling and drawing generation
• Proficient with computers and digital tools used in technical documentation, data analysis, and process development
• Familiarity with the calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of EBW systems and associated instrumentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive continuous improvement through data-driven analysis and collaboration
