Pacific Fusion is seeking an experienced & versatile Senior Project Engineer - Steel Structures to join our dynamic team and create the path to commercial fusion energy. You will lead the procurement, contract management, installation and commissioning of structural steel systems such as tanks, equipment platforms, and structural steel components for holding, lifting, moving and positioning critical equipment. This role requires a top-tier combination of engineering skills, technical expertise, fabrication and construction experience, problem-solving skills, and a proactive mindset to meet the exciting challenges in the field of fusion energy. As a senior engineer, you will be responsible for turnkey delivery and installation in enabling our fusion technology.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for evaluating current manual processes and making them more efficient, robust and reliable through improved instructions, tooling or implementing automation solutions. This role is ideal for someone with strong factory-floor instincts, who understands how to build things at rate and with an eye towards economics based automation in the real world—not just on paper—and who thrives in a fast-moving, build-focused environment. In this role your work will optimize processes and enable production employees, engineers and scientists across the organization as they bring our demonstration system online.

The Senior Buyer will support the sourcing and delivery of components required to build the fusion demonstration system. You will work closely with scientists and engineers across many disciplines to ensure that their designs can be assembled on time and on budget, leading to a successful project delivery. Your role involves negotiating with suppliers, managing supplier performance, and implementing procurement strategies to meet business objectives. You will also support cost reduction initiatives and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure optimal supply chain performance.

The Rigging, Fixtures and Ground Support Equipment Engineer will design, analyze, and procure custom handling equipment for lifting, in factory movement and overland transportation of Pacific Fusion’s large custom hardware. You will utilize your expertise in heavy lifts, speciality rigging and in factory movement to create innovative designs to address unique installation and transportation challenges on rapid timelines across multiple locations. In this role you will work collaboratively with engineers, production employees, and scientists to optimize equipment designs across the company for safety, efficiency, and cost as we bring our demonstration system online. This role needs to be onsite at our Los Lunas, New Mexico facility.
Design, analyze, and procure a broad range of lifting and transportation fixtures and handling equipment for specialty hardware.
Working closely with relevant engineers to meet strict technical and operational requirements.
Use industry standards and relevant regulations to apply best practices for future designs and improve existing designs.
Review all lift and transport fixture designs for structural integrity under dynamic and static loading.
Create and/or review detailed CAD models, FEA, and mechanical fabrication drawings of all custom fixtures and handling equipment.
Document equipment testing requirements and findings to optimize next revision of designs.
Mentor larger design engineering workforce on lift and transport fixture best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, with Structural focus or Masters degree preferred.
7+ years experience in designing and analyzing lift, transportation, and handling fixtures for large hardware with a proven track record of rigor, creative problem solving, and success.
Deep knowledge of rigging equipment, lifting techniques, load path analysis, and safety standards (e.g., ASME B30 series, OSHA 1926).
Expertise in design and analysis (structural and FEA) of custom lift, transportation, and handling fixtures for large and heavy hardware.
Expertise in variety of cranes (bridge, gantry, mobile, et.c), forklifts, below-the-hook lift fixtures.
Experience in road-transport vehicle options, custom road-transport container/fixtures, permitting requirements for oversized loads.
Proficiency in CAD to create detailed design, drawings, and FEA.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
PE license.
Design for lift fixtures in nuclear facilities, including remotely connected and operated lift fixtures.
Experience with integrating hydraulic and/or motorized systems into fixture designs to precisely align large and heavy hardware.
Experience in designing end of arm manipulator systems for robotic applications.
Experience working in industries such as: nuclear, energy, aerospace, and/or construction.

The Master Scheduler will play a critical role in linking, coordinating, planning and communicating the schedule of our R&D, engineering, procurement and manufacturing programs by creating and managing integrated master schedules. You will work closely with managers, engineering leads, and delivery teams to ensure alignment across all project timelines, identify risks and bottlenecks, and maintain visibility into critical path activities. Your work will directly support the timely and efficient scheduling of our next-generation fusion energy system by 2030.
Develop and maintain integrated master schedules across multi-phase prototype, procurement, assembly and integration efforts
Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, testing) to ensure realistic and achievable timelines
Monitor and report progress against schedules, highlighting delays and mitigation options, resource constraints, and schedule risks
Lead schedule reviews and facilitate coordination meetings with internal stakeholders
Provide scenario planning and “what-if” analysis to support strategic decisions and risk mitigation
Ensure consistency in scheduling standards, tools, and best practices across programs.
Interface with software tools such as MS Project, Linear and MES/ERP to maintain project schedules and resource forecasts
5+ years of experience in project scheduling or program controls, preferably in advanced technology, aerospace, energy, or manufacturing environments
Proven experience developing and managing integrated master schedules for complex, multi-disciplinary projects
Strong understanding of scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT), critical path analysis, and resource leveling
Proficiency in scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
PMP, PMI-SP, or equivalent project management certification
Experience scheduling first-of-a-kind systems and projects
Experience working in industries such as: fusion, energy, aerospace, chemicals
Experience working closely with PhD scientists, R&D technology and manufacturing organizations
