Our new Senior Software Engineer, Embedded will be contributing extensively to our embedded UI development, algorithm implementation for complex features to make it more user intuitive and underlying architecture. You will be working closely with product management to understand new features or extending current features for international market needs, development using modern C++ libraries/frameworks, scripting language and integration of third-party code. You will also be engaged in developing tools which can help larger development community within Roku. A proven track record of shipping high-quality software on embedded platforms is essential. This is a senior software engineering role where you will architect, design, implement and test the run-time and native renderer of Roku's software development kit. You will partner with engineers who build the higher level scripting parts of Roku’s SDK.
Roku prides itself in building software and features which run well on our oldest devices, while taking advantage of our latest ones. To this end, the software development kit will need to be designed and implemented from the get go to run well on devices with extremely limited system resources like RAM, Flash and CPU.
Architect, design, implement and test the run-time and native renderer of Roku's software development kit.
Partner with engineers who build the higher level scripting parts of Roku’s software development kit.
Ensure that we can stand behind all APIs exposed by Roku’s software development kit, and manage the evolution of these APIs.
Ensure that the native development kit performs well on low-cost hardware. To this end you will design for and track RAM consumption, rendering frame rate, etc.
Develop tooling which will allow Roku and 3rd party developers to build great optimized and performant applications to run on the Roku platform.
Navigate through ambiguous problem spaces and meticulously distill out design choices, trade-offs, and priorities.
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience in embedded C/C++ development and toolchain.
Extensive experience with software development on embedded Linux
Experience with multi-process architectures and IPC mechanisms.
Experience with UI/app frameworks from iOS or Android is a plus.
Excellent software design and architecture skills.
Ability to see the big picture while focused on short-term objectives and deliverables.
Ability to multi-task and drive parallel projects and distributed teams with tight deadlines.

Overview
As a Senior Solutions Architect (Collaboration), you will serve as the focused technical lead and sales engineer for ePlus targeted product and service solutions, supporting the ePlus regional sales team to drive revenue creation and capture within the customer account portfolio. The initial base salary range for this position is expected to be between $120,000 and $170,000 annually. The final base salary offered will be determined by multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, depth of experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, our compensation structure may include other components such as commissions and discretionary bonuses.

This role can be based from either our London or Manchester office.
You'll join at a moment when we're moving our retail analytics platform from monthly bundled releases to continuous per-service deployment on Kubernetes. You'll be hands-on with that migration in your first few months and then stay on long-term as a core member of the team that owns and evolves the platform. It's a clear path into senior platform engineering for someone who has shipped production Kubernetes work and wants to grow their craft on a platform used by hundreds of engineers.

The Infrastructure Engineer builds out solutions to support Platform disaster response/crisis management activities in compliance with the Engineering and Customer requirements and helps provide and coordinate disaster preparedness with respect to the organisation’s Platform, helping ensure business continuity.
They also ensure we have enough resources to meet current and future Platform demand efficiently, involving forecasting needs,capacity planning,monitoring performance(KPIs),managing risks(shortages/overloads),and developing strategies for optimisation.

The Role
We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Manager who is, first and foremost, a people leader.
In this role, your primary responsibility is the health, performance, and career growth of your engineering team. While you must possess a solid technical background to understand the challenges your team faces, your day-to-day focus will not be hands-on technical work. Instead, you will use your experience to remove blockers, guide decision-making, and ensure your engineers have the environment they need to succeed.
You will act as the bridge between technical execution and business strategy, team budget management, defining roadmaps, and ensuring operational excellence across a complex hybrid (predominantly on-prem and some cloud) estate.
The Team You Will Lead
You will lead the Infrastructure Solutions team within the wider Technical Operations department. Your engineers are responsible for building the environment, delivering projects as requested by Engineering and Product, and ensuring we remain available, scalable, and secure. They are not responsible for the BAU function of the platforms that is managed by another team within Technical Operations. The Infrastructure Solutions team takes a concept or idea and makes that into a reality within the boundaries and constraints of our platforms.

Leadership & Management Competencies
Focusing on the technical skills that your engineers possess, it would be ideal if you had a decent working knowledge of each of the areas. Hands-on expertise in every area is not required, but the ability to hold and facilitate discussions, know when to push or hold back and when to ask poignant questions will help you effectively mentor the team and guide architectural decisions.
For reference from above these areas are: on-prem and AWS/GCP solutions; system design from network to application level; resilient database availability strategies; automation and configuration management via Ansible, Docker and CI/CD; programming awareness in Python; Linux administration.
Your willingness to learn what you don’t know is required to succeed in this role and we will support you through that journey.
The following skills or experiences are advantageous but not strictly required. They would be utilised for facilitating tasks rather than for direct, hands-on implementation.
