The Disaster Recovery & Capacity Manager directs Platform disaster response/crisis management activities in compliance with the Engineering and Customer requirements and helps provide and coordinate disaster preparedness with respect to the organisation’s Platform, helping ensure business continuity.

They also ensure we have enough resources to meet current and future Platform demand efficiently, involving forecasting needs, capacity planning, monitoring performance (KPIs), managing risks (shortages/overloads), and developing strategies for optimisation, all while advising leadership and ensuring service level targets are met cost-effectively.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to influence the company’s direction on resilience and disaster recovery as part of the Platform Engineering team. The team works with a broad range of technologies. 

Your impact

You will :

• Work with Engineering and Service Management to drive the disaster recovery (DR) and capacity planning strategy, developing frameworks, policies, and procedures for both Cloud and Data Center environments.
• Establish and maintain the overall plans for executing all DR procedures and understand their interdependencies.
• Guarantee that all DR solutions are adequate, properly maintained, and regularly tested throughout their operational lifecycle, and take the lead in scheduling and conducting all DR exercises.
• Establish and maintain detailed DR communications and command and control plans through a change management process.
• Work with Engineering & Service Management to ensure that disaster recovery solutions are adequate, in place, maintained, and tested as part of the regular operational life cycle.
• Provide continuous feedback for risk management, mitigation, and prevention, while regularly reporting on all Disaster Recovery activities to stakeholders.
• Take responsibility for mentoring and managing team members to ensure skill development.

Your skills

• Strong background experience in IT operations and dedicated to capacity, disaster recovery operations and management.
• Demonstrated technical experience, ideally with exposure to some of the tools we use. An eagerness to learn is key in this position. 
• Understanding of current recovery solutions and high availability architectures for cloud and on prem is needed.
• Understanding of current Capacity Management & Planning scenarios and tooling.
• Experience mentoring or coaching engineers in technical roles.
• Experience with Agile principles and practices.
• Expertise in problem diagnosis across complex, distributed systems.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on leader to manage our DevOps Engineering team. As a Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day success, operational excellence, and career growth of the engineers who maintain our critical CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) toolchain.

Following established operational policies, you will lead your team in administering our core DevOps platforms, including Jenkins, Artifactory, HashiCorp Vault, and Terraform Enterprise on AWS. This role is ideal for a customer-centric leader who excels at meeting schedules, guiding technical experts, and ensuring the stability and performance of essential engineering services.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Development: Manage the daily activities and performance of the DevOps Engineering team. Work with employees to set clear contribution goals, provide regular feedback, and create an environment that fosters development and career growth.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee the administration, maintenance, and availability of the DevOps toolchain. Develop and manage schedules and performance requirements to ensure platform uptime and reliability.
• Tactical Execution & Support: Act as the primary point of escalation for the team, providing guidance on complex troubleshooting for CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, and infrastructure issues. Ensure the team provides timely and effective support to our internal engineering customers.
• Process Improvement: Recommend and establish procedures that improve team efficiency and service quality. Follow and enforce operational policies, ensuring the team adheres to best practices for security, upgrades, and incident response.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Interact frequently with functional peer group managers and internal customers. Lead cooperative efforts among team members and cross-functional partners to resolve issues and deliver on project goals.

Required Skills

Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5-8+ years of related experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering environment, with demonstrated experience leading projects or mentoring team members.

• Technical Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and the administration of CI/CD toolchains (e.g., Jenkins, Artifactory, GitHub, Vault, Terraform).
  • Solid experience with AWS infrastructure management and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and guide teams through complex technical issues across distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with scripting, automation, and modern operational best practices.

• Build out tooling that supports the DR plans and tracks progress and maturity against set KPI’s and Metrics.
• Work with Engineering & Service Management to ensure that disaster recovery solutions are adequate, in place, maintained, and tested as part of the regular operational life cycle.
• Provide ongoing feedback for risk management, mitigation, and prevention.
• Develop and implement capacity planning tooling, frameworks, policies, and strategies.
• Provide capacity requirements and impact assessments for new services or changes. 
• Collaborate with other Platform managers to deliver objectives on our platform evolution roadmap.
