About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. Our Rwanda program, founded in 2007 is our largest and operates under the local brand Tubura. We have more than 3,000 staff across all four provinces of Rwanda, as well as in Kigali. ABOUT THE ROLE

The SVP Associate plays a central role in supporting ALU’s student entrepreneurs. The role focuses on developing, managing, and improving the end-to-end student venture support
pipeline, from venture discovery and incubation to mentorship, funding preparation, and post-program tracking. This role ensures that ALU’s Student Ventures Program builds high-

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Operations & Coordination (Core Function)

• Support planning, coordination, and delivery of SVP activities, events, and learning sessions.
• Manage day-to-day operations for student founder cohorts, ensuring a smooth weekly program experience.

Founder Support & Venture Development:

As we expand in Cote D'ivoire, we’re seeking a Deployments Lead to oversee all construction and deployment activities nationwide. As a Data Labeling Specialist, you’ll play a key role in supporting Zipline’s global operations by providing data labeling coverage to ensure continuous, high-quality data processing. You’ll work alongside the broader Autonomy team to review and label data, adding critical contextual metadata for machine learning applications.

About the Role

The Zipline Maps team is responsible for producing the high-precision geospatial data that our fully autonomous drones need to safely and reliably navigate complex urban environments—flying from fulfillment centers directly to homes, businesses, and other delivery locations. We build and maintain systems for collecting and aggregating spatial data from a variety of sources, validating our flight routes over the latest information, and providing geospatial services to stakeholders across the company. • Partner with our cross-functional, multinational teams to establish global standards and processes for IT inventory monitoring/shipping, IT onboarding for new team members, establishing safe security protocols for all devices, educating and guiding users on technical concepts and more.
• Support the implementation of IT policies across multiple distribution centers.
• Analyze IT Support inquiries to identify recurring user problems, recommend solutions, identify areas where service can be improved, and establish improvement plans.
• Write and implement technical guides to resolve basic issues and understand common workflows.
• Troubleshoot and provide technical guidance and education for users.
• Manage user access to resources and SaaS applications via identity management tools, following least-privileged/RBAC practices.

As the Technical Program Manager for Autonomy Data and Maps Operations, you will own and scale how we produce autonomy data and maps so our drone systems can reliably operate in the real world. This role is responsible for turning messy, manual operational workflows into efficient, scalable, and high-quality systems by partnering closely with engineering. In practice, you’ll run the day-to-day map and data operations while also driving the tooling, automation, and process changes needed to support rapid growth.

This role sits at the intersection of machine learning data production, map curation, and platform enablement, and is responsible for translating real-world operational work into reliable, scalable inputs for autonomy development and deployment.

The TPM will own not only the day-to-day execution of autonomy data and map operations, but also the cross-functional engineering work required to scale those operations through better tooling, workflow redesign, and automation. This person will be expected to learn the current map creation and data production processes end-to-end, identify where they will break as we scale, and guide the engineering effort to define and implement how we should work in the future.

What You'll Do

Program Execution & Coordination

• Drive day-to-day execution of data and map curation programs used for ML development

• Translate operational pain points into clear engineering problem statements, requirements, and prioritized roadmaps
• Partner with Maps, Autonomy, and Data Platform engineering teams to drive implementation of automation, tooling, and workflow redesign
• Define future-state operating models for end-to-end map creation that improve throughput, quality, and predictability
• Ensure new tools and workflows are adopted successfully by operations teams and measurably improve performance

Cross-Functional & Platform Collaboration

• Act as the conduit between operations and engineering
• Translate operational pain points (manual work, bottlenecks, errors, scale limitations) into clear problem statements for tooling or feature development
• Have a sense for product and partner with Data Platform to shape requirements, prioritize work, and validate solutions
• Support rollout and adoption of new tools or workflows back into operations

Continuous Improvement

• Identify inefficiencies and failure patterns in data and map operations
• Propose process improvements, automation opportunities, and clearer ownership models

About You and The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled data analyst to build out system health and performance monitoring within the Systems Engineering team, working closely with the team’s Senior Data Scientist. This role will play a key part in identifying critical fleet issues, improving safety, and removing barriers to Zipline’s growth. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers across Zipline, helping them understand the performance of their systems and how they relate to others, as well as senior leadership, assisting in measuring key company metrics. The ideal candidate has deep experience in data analytics, particularly in monitoring real-world hardware and/or operations, and can work adeptly with both highly technical and non-technical stakeholders to extract actionable insights from complex technical data.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build data analytics solutions, including monitoring dashboards, alerting tools, and ad hoc analyses, to track Zipline’s core flight reliability and safety metrics.
• Collaborate with System Engineers and partner teams to track the health of hardware, software, and operational systems.
• Create software scripts (in SQL and Python) to extract system performance data from raw flight logs.
• Work autonomously with other Data Scientists and Analysts across the company to create and maintain shared data models in our data warehouse, ensuring company-wide access for analytics and reporting.
• Ensure that we are following best practices for efficient data access across multiple technical systems.
• Serve as a source of knowledge and expertise, assisting team members across the company in locating and reporting on their own data.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of experience in data analysis or business intelligence, preferably related to hardware-software systems or operations.
• Strong proficiency in data visualization tools such as Mode, ThoughtSpot, Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, or similar.
• Experience writing SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and aggregate large datasets from relational databases, including complex joins, aggregations, and window functions, with the ability to optimize and debug queries for performance and readability.

The Health Entrepreneurship Lead (HENT Lead) is responsible for leading the execution and operational delivery of all health entrepreneurship programs, venture support initiatives, mentorship frameworks, and events. The HENT Lead ensures ventures progress, programs run smoothly, partners are engaged effectively, and operational excellence is maintained across the Health Entrepreneurship Pillar.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Venture Program Execution

• Lead the day-to-day delivery of health entrepreneurship accelerator programs, including ALX Health Accelerator, and other venture support initiatives.
• Monitor and track venture progress across cohorts, ensuring founders meet agreed milestones across our campuses.
• Provide hands-on coaching to founders on business models, operational challenges, growth strategies, and early-stage scaling.
• Identify ventures requiring additional mentor, partner, or technical support and coordinate timely interventions.
• Ensure that program delivery aligns with ALU’s BEL curriculum, mission-based learning approach, and Health Collaborative standards.

2. Mentorship & Ecosystem Coordination

• Operationally manage the structured mentorship framework: onboarding, mentor pairing, engagement tracking, and impact assessment.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for mentors, ecosystem partners, and sector experts supporting ventures.
• Ensure mentors and partners are effectively briefed, equipped, and engaged for high-quality support to ventures.
• Coordinate mentor sessions, feedback collection, and reporting of mentorship outcomes to inform program improvements.

3. Event, Workshop & Hackathon Delivery

• Lead operational planning and execution of all venture-related events, including masterclasses, hackathons, Demo Days, and workshops.
• Manage logistics: venues, participant communication, registration, technology setup, catering, and branding.
• Coordinate panels, judges, guest speakers, mentors, and partners, ensuring smooth execution and professional presentation.
• Capture and document event outcomes, lessons learned, and participant feedback to improve future programs.

4. Data, Reporting, & Learning

• Maintain and oversee all program and venture data: participation, milestones, mentorship interactions, and KPIs.
• Generate operational reports, dashboards, and updates for the Healthcare Venture Manager (HVM) to inform portfolio and strategic decisions.

5. Budget & Resource Management

6. Operational Leadership

The Entrepreneurial Leaders’ Action Lab (E-LAB) is a space to explore and engage in complex issues while discovering one's entrepreneurial identity. The program is the engine of ALU’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and is supported by the Community programming streams. 

E-LAB is one-third of the integrated synchronous, in-person, non-credit bearing experience synthesising Missions: Radical thinking, Introduction to Global Challenges and Opportunities, and Entrepreneurial Literacy around complex design challenges. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Stakeholder Engagements. 

• Partner with key stakeholders like the Entrepreneurship Manager, Student Venture Program, and Hub Coordinators to integrate entrepreneurial teachings.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Given that the team at the School of Wildlife Conservation (SOWC) is small,   each team member has a clearly designated role, but we do expect all team members to multitask and mutually support other members of the team as needed (and within reason) across the functions of the School.  The team is led by an Executive Director and is focused on the following key areas:

• Delivery of educational support and the “conservation ecosystem” (guest speakers, conservation “boot camps”, centres of conservation excellence, internships) to the Undergraduate School of ALU in support of all students who choose a planetary health pathway, currently led by Dr Victor Muposhi as the Head of Academics
• Delivery of the conservation specialisation to the ALU MBA program - electives, capstone projects, guest speakers also currently led by Dr Victor Muposhi with support from Richard Vigne (Executive Director of the SOWC)
• Development and delivery of professional development courses to the African conservation sector including “generic” courses and bespoke courses (for various organisations including South Africa National Parks, the African Natural Capital Alliance and African Parks).  Led by the Head of Professional Development and Consultancy
• Research and thought leadership into the Wildlife Economy of Africa, culminating in regular iterations of the Wildlife Economy Investment Index for Africa and advocacy work, supplemented by the Conservation Debate series and the Lessons Learned series led by Dr Sue Snyman.  This section also secures and delivers consultancies in the African wildlife sector.
• Coordination of all SOWC operations inclusive of management of the internship program, all logistics for students attending conservation boot camps and centres of conservation excellence, financial oversight, partnership and network oversight and management, all social media, PR and marketing efforts inclusive of the SOWC website.  Led by the Operations and Fundraising Manager, Tiavina Ramandavola
• Development, management and delivery of the annual Business of Conservation Conference (BCC) - this is a team effort that runs throughout the year and includes other ALU team members.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager, Professional Development Courses and Consultancy will lead the development and execution of SOWC’s professional development and consultancy portfolio. The role will focus on winning, managing, and delivering contracts for professional development training and consultancy projects, as well as developing, marketing, and scaling open and bespoke courses for conservation professionals and organisations across Africa. Working closely with adjunct faculty, partner institutions, and internal and external stakeholders, the Manager will ensure that all offerings meet client needs, uphold ALU’s brand standards, and contribute to the School’s financial sustainability. As with all SOWC roles, this position will require flexibility, collaboration, and a proactive “startup” mindset.

• Prepare high-quality proposals, expressions of interest, budgets, and contracts for consultancy and training assignments.
• Represent SOWC in external meetings, conferences, and networks to expand visibility and business opportunities.

Professional Development Courses

• Design, market, and manage a portfolio of short courses and leadership programs for conservation professionals, including open-enrolment and bespoke offerings.
• Coordinate course logistics, marketing, participant recruitment, and delivery, ensuring a seamless learning experience.
• Work with adjunct faculty, subject-matter experts and the ALU Learning Experience Design and Implementation (LEDI) teams to develop course content and facilitate delivery.
• Develop and implement marketing strategies and partnerships to expand enrollment and reach new audiences across Africa.
• Monitor and report on course impact and feedback, ensuring continuous improvement and relevance to the sector’s evolving needs.

Consultancy Services

• Manage end-to-end delivery of consultancy assignments, including project planning, coordination of experts, reporting, and client communication.
• Ensure timely and high-quality outputs that meet contractual obligations and strengthen SOWC’s reputation for excellence.
• Maintain accurate financial and administrative tracking and reporting for each consultancy project in coordination with the Operations and Finance teams.

Operational and Financial Management

• Working with the Fundraising and Operations department, oversee project budgets, invoicing, and reporting, ensuring compliance with ALU’s financial policies and donor requirements.
• Contribute to the development of annual workplans, revenue targets, and financial forecasts for the professional development and consultancy portfolio.
• Maintain centralised systems for proposal tracking, client communication, contracts, and project documentation.

Partnerships and Collaboration

• Work closely with the Fundraising and Operations Manager to align fundraising, communications, and partnership strategies with the professional development agenda.
• Collaborate with the ALU Marketing and Communications and the ALU Business Development team to produce marketing materials, alumni stories, and success narratives that strengthen brand visibility
• Contribute to SOWC-wide initiatives such as the Business of Conservation Conference (BCC) and other external stakeholder engagements.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Conservation, Environmental Management, Education, or related field (Master’s degree an advantage).
• 5+ years of experience in professional education, training, business development, consultancy management, or project management — ideally within conservation, sustainability, or related sectors.
• Demonstrated success in securing and managing contracts or partnerships with large institutions, government bodies, or international NGOs.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and deliver on time and within budget.

Required Competencies

• Strong business development and client relationship management skills.
• Excellent project management, coordination, and organisational abilities.
• Strong communication, proposal writing, and presentation skills.
• Financial acumen and experience in budgeting and contract management.
• Familiarity with digital learning tools, CRM systems, and workplace platforms such as G-Suite, Slack, Salesforce, or equivalents.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: proactive, adaptable, results-driven, and comfortable with ambiguity.
• A strong interest in conservation, sustainable development, and leadership in Africa.
• Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a small, distributed, and agile team.

About the Role

The Impact division supports all One Acre Fund programs to generate more impact, wherever we work. We help the organization keep three core aspects of impact at the forefront of our work: 

1. Improve farmer livelihoods and profitability in the short term
2. Ensure long-term viability through sustainable agricultural practices (soil health, crop diversity, etc.)
3. Address non-agricultural needs of farming households (energy, nutrition, etc.)

Responsibilities

Lead Annual Emissions Calculations

• Work with all relevant departments to gather data/inputs for footprint accounting.
• Clean and share data with partners for independent review and calculation.
• Build internal long-term tracking tools to help us understand our emissions hot spots and mitigation opportunities.
• Help set and track progress against global and program-specific emissions reduction targets.

Lead key strategic projects to reduce emissions in hot-spot areas.  

• Prioritize a few key mitigation opportunities to tackle at a time based on size and feasibility of potential reduction.
• Work with teams across the organization (program teams, inputs/sourcing teams, operations teams, etc.) to reduce emissions in their operations or purview.  This will require research & learning about the specific emissions hotspot and potential solutions, evaluating options with program teams, and implementing agreed-upon actions.  

Manage our Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) process for all products and services offered by 1AF.

• Ensure that programs adhere to ESIA processes, including evaluating potential new products and services and implementing any mitigating actions required.  

Lead Innovation & Improvement

• Research and propose improvements to sustainability in One Acre Fund’s operations across the board.  
• If approved, and if there is not already a clear owner, lead these innovations and improvements.

Qualifications

We are seeking an environmental sustainability professional with 3-5+ years of relevant work experience and a demonstrated passion for our mission.  Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

• Skilled collaborator who can bring others on side and help them make necessary changes to their operations.  
• Humble service: willingness to roll up your sleeves to help busy team members make sustainability improvements.

Technical aptitude for improving sustainability

• University (or higher) degree in Environmental Studies or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in identifying, developing, and implementing projects that improve organizational sustainability.
• Analytical skills: ability to analyze data to identify hotspots and their drivers.  

Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication across a wide range of audiences - from non-technically-trained colleagues to external experts.  

• Open listener; can develop trust of colleagues and teams.  
• English required.  Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, or French a plus.

Productivity

• Strong organizational skills and ability to keep dozens of diverse tasks and initiatives on track.
• Ability to deliver results quickly, whether working independently or collaboratively.

Other requirements

• High proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Power Point (or online equivalents).
• Ability to travel within the region - preferred
