Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

• Support the senior leaders, taking the lead on multi-writer projects, assisting with resourcing and scientific communications review
• Demonstrate a high degree of scientific and commercial knowledge and insights across all activities, helping guide others to develop this skill
• Oversee content on a wide range of complex projects across multiple teams and therapy areas
• Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in review of scientific content, helping to guide others to develop this skill

• Participate in business development initiatives with existing and potential clients, as well as collaborating with the business development team in order to develop proposals and pitches

• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of business offerings, identifying opportunities for account growth and cross-selling

Collaboration and Building Relationships

• Establish, maintain and lead scientific relationships/communications with clients, medical experts and third parties, supporting junior team members to ensure they develop this skill
• Lead collaborative work between Omnicom Health Med Comms and client teams/medical experts to moderate/facilitate activities

• Share in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical industry standards across multiple teams and therapy areas, keeping up to date on latest industry developments
• Utilising previous experience, guide the decision-making process and provide additional insight into writing styles, content inclusion, and data interpretation
• Oversee the work of and provide clear direction to junior scientific service colleagues, delegating responsibilities and tasks where appropriate to provide experience, growth and knowledge transfer
• Provide clear, constructive and actionable feedback to junior staff on a regular basis, and to peers when required

Skills and Experience:

Essential

• Educated to degree level in a relevant science subject or 6+ years’ experience writing in a medical communications agency or similar environment
• Experience in independently writing across a range of medical communications media
• Previous line management experience
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office programmes (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
• Have an excellent command of the English language in both written and verbal communications

Desirable

• Previous experience in a medical communications agency or industry would be advantageous
• A keen interest in working and developing scientific expertise across a range of therapy areas
• Previous business development experience – including taking part in live pitches
• Ability to travel

About the Role:

The Principal Medical Writer (PMW) is responsible for the production of high-quality medical content written to a consistently high standard that is aligned with client’s communication objectives and is delivered both on time and to budget. The PMW confidently incorporates strategic direction on assigned accounts and is the acknowledged go-to contact for in-depth knowledge of select therapy areas. Principal Medical Writers generously share their time and knowledge throughout their account team, particularly with scientific teammates, giving constructive feedback to help develop medical writing skills.

This exciting new PMW role offers a mix of Publications Planning/Strategy and Medical Affairs projects for a global, high-profile multi-indication Oncology product in the Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) class.

 Key Responsibilities:

Communication

• Extensive medical writing experience in a medical communications agency or similar environment with demonstrated proficiency writing for Publications Planning & Strategy and Medical Affairs deliverables
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office programmes (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
• Have an excellent command of the English language in both written and verbal communications

Desirable

• Experience writing in Oncology in a medical communications agency or industry
• A keen interest in working and developing scientific expertise across a range of deliverables and therapy areas

Senior Account Manager – Omnicom Health Medical Communications

The role 

As a Senior Account Manager, you will execute projects independently with the support and direction of the Account Lead, including, but not limited to, timeline development and management, financial reporting and management, client-contact report development, client meeting agendas and action-item report development, interaction and coordination with other internal stakeholders (including scientific services, editorial, creative, and digital), onsite program management, materials development, concept planning, and coordination with external vendors. You will own all aspects of client and project management, including internal and client-facing kickoff meetings at the start of an initiative through to completion and delivery.

What You Will Do:

• Execute projects autonomously, with proven knowledge of internal processes, and capably and directly manage projects while working with interdepartmental teams
• Provide expert oversight of Workfront and other content management databases/portals (if applicable to account, eg, Veeva, Datavision)
• Work closely with Finance Director for accurate picture and preservation of account financials
• Correctly use existing financial tools (eg, Job Position Report) to keep team abreast of key financial data trackers and accurately use forecasting platform, in addition to keeping the team forecast up to date
• Develop client budgets, scope of work, and estimates with minimal revision needed
• Partner with clients independently and lead client meetings and calls with focus on project status and completion
• Accurately complete client-contact reports with minimal supervision/revision
• Understand and internally discuss client strategy and/or objectives
• At times oversee the work of and provide direction to junior team members and delegate projects to provide experience and knowledge transfer
• Take the lead on interdepartmental relationship issues and identify and solve problems, give and receive constructive criticism in an assertive way, and immediately and helpfully address conflicts with peers

• Participate in and contribute to select business planning sessions
• Assist in preparation of new business pitches/presentations, including research, scheduling, and other internal needs

Requirements:

• Degree in life science or degree in liberal arts, marketing or communications, with a strong appreciation for medical communications and scientific storytelling, and an interest in pharmaceutical marketing
• 3-4 years of experience in account/project management in an agency setting; some pharmaceutical or healthcare-focused client experience preferred, but not required
• Expertise in MS Office (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint)
• Exceptional interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
