The Staff Safety Planning Manager will lead planning, implementation, and execution for safety program initiatives across Zoox teams, and drive the continuous improvement and scale of our safety data collection and assessment, risk management, and decision-making processes. You and your team will be responsible for spearheading development and implementing effective customer-focused and corporate-focused safety processes commensurate with Zoox’s safety innovative leadership.

As the Staff Safety Planning Manager, you will define and implement innovative processes that are rigorous, diligent and systematic as Zoox continues to scale. Leveraging AI tools and automated data systems, you will continually improve our internal safety processes, including our Robot Self-Reporting, Safety Management Systems approach, Rules of the Road, Industry Standards, Anonymous Reporting, and Assessment activities. As a Sustaining Engineer supporting Powertrain and Thermal Systems, you will independently own sustaining engineering for key subsystems supporting both the in service fleet and vehicles in current production. You will drive root cause investigations and corrective actions, making subsystem-level technical decisions and leading changes through design, validation, release, and fleet implementation.

You will prioritize work based on fleet and production impact, delivering solutions that improve safety, durability, fleet uptime, and manufacturing performance.

We are seeking a highly versatile Sensor & Hardware Safety Engineer to bridge the gap between rigorous hardware reliability and real-world system behavior. In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for 50% hardware-level Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and 50% system-level sensor safety (SOTIF / ISO 21448). You will ensure that our custom hardware meets strict ASIL compliance while guaranteeing our advanced sensor suites (Cameras, LiDAR, Radar) operate safely through perception edge-cases and environmental challenges.

Zoox is looking for an experienced software engineer to work on large-scale simulation pipelines used to validate the behavior of the Zoox self-driving vehicle. These are data and GPU intensive workloads built on Ray.io and Kubernetes. Given the massive scale and criticality of these pipelines, ensuring their reliability and efficiency has a significant impact on the company's ability to safely and quickly iterate on autonomy development.

We are a small, scrappy team within the larger Autonomy organization. Although this role primarily involves off-vehicle pipelines, you will work closely with engineers developing the on-vehicle algorithms and models in our autonomy stack. We stay close to the end users - autonomy engineers - and think about the end to end use case for these validation pipelines.

This is a hands-on role with a high degree of independence and ownership. You will be expected to contribute towards the framework’s architecture, reliability, efficiency, and grow its capabilities to support new use cases. You should have a track record of keeping production systems running with high availability. Experience with robotics or autonomous systems is not required but an understanding of the robotic data lifecycle is preferred.

The Perception team at Zoox is fundamental to our autonomous vehicle technology, creating the understanding of the world for our self-driving robots. We enable safe and efficient navigation in complex environments through sophisticated detection, classification, and tracking systems.

As an engineer on the Localization team, you will be a key contributor to Zoox’s online pose estimation systems. This role focuses on improving the ML systems that utilize cameras for Localization. You will design, train, validate, and integrate computer vision models into the online software system. Your work will enable important milestones to scaling and autonomy capabilities and will be critical to the success of Zoox.
