Zoox is looking for an experienced software engineer to work on large-scale simulation pipelines used to validate the behavior of the Zoox self-driving vehicle. These are data and GPU intensive workloads built on Ray.io and Kubernetes. Given the massive scale and criticality of these pipelines, ensuring their reliability and efficiency has a significant impact on the company's ability to safely and quickly iterate on autonomy development.

We are a small, scrappy team within the larger Autonomy organization. Although this role primarily involves off-vehicle pipelines, you will work closely with engineers developing the on-vehicle algorithms and models in our autonomy stack. We stay close to the end users - autonomy engineers - and think about the end to end use case for these validation pipelines.

This is a hands-on role with a high degree of independence and ownership. You will be expected to contribute towards the framework’s architecture, reliability, efficiency, and grow its capabilities to support new use cases. You should have a track record of keeping production systems running with high availability. Experience with robotics or autonomous systems is not required but an understanding of the robotic data lifecycle is preferred.

In this role, you will:

Improve the cost efficiency, reliability, and performance of our validation and simulation pipelines

Create production-grade APIs, SDKs, and tools to enable a varied set of validations of autonomous behaviors

Improve the ML training pipelines supporting the autonomous behavior org

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 6+ years of industry experience

Experience optimizing large-scale distributed systems for cost and efficiency

Experience with AWS or similar providers

Proficiency with Python and familiarity with C++

Bonus Qualifications

Exposure to machine learning workloads (training, inference, data generation) from a cost optimization perspective

Background in algorithmic optimization or performance investigation

Experience with Ray.io, particularly Ray Core and Ray Data

In this role, you will:

Manage and scale logistics service operations and distribution of materials nationwide, laying the groundwork for continued expansion in subsequent years.

Partner closely with inbound and outbound transportation to resolve daily logistical roadblocks and help drive long-term supply chain and transportation strategies.

Drive programs cross-functionally with fleet and base operations, materials planning, engineering, supply chain, quality and logistics operations teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment across all sites.

Spearhead new city launches by driving new infrastructure planning, facility buildouts, and operational readiness from concept to execution.

Establish critical service center performance metrics to monitor material availability, fleet readiness, and logistics performance, delivering regular updates to stakeholders.

Define and manage processes and operating procedures to ensure all teams clearly understand deliverables, timelines, and risks, enabling clear communication across regional sites.

Define program scope, milestones, KPIs, and success criteria aligned to business goals

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Operations, or a related field.

6+ years of TPM, logistics, fleet operations, or service center experience in high-scale, fast-paced industries (e.g., automotive, aerospace, mobility, or complex logistics).

Proven expertise in leading complex, multi-site programs from design through implementation, with a strong ability to manage schedules, track milestones, and mitigate risks across multiple geographic locations.

Strong track record of driving organizational change and adopting new standards, backed by exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to align and influence cross-functional teams at all levels.

Robust analytical capabilities with practical experience in process mapping, defining KPIs, and building operational dashboards to monitor performance and solve complex operational challenges.

Bonus Qualifications:

Master’s in Engineering or Supply Chain, plus PMP, PgMP, Lean, or Six Sigma certification.

Deep knowledge of service center optimization, material flow, and transportation engineering using ERP/WMS (SAP) and Lean principles.

Proficient in SQL, Python, or simulation tools for data-driven decisions, with a solid grasp of EHS, OSHA, ISO, and DOT standards.

Senior Fleet Support Engineering Lead

The Senior Fleet Support Engineer on the Vehicle Development team is a critical, hands-on technical expert responsible for maximizing the operational uptime and reliability of our regional robotaxi fleet. This role serves as the first line of escalation for complex, on-site technical issues covering all major vehicle systems.

In this role, you will:

Act as the primary technical expert for all regional escalations, diagnosing complex issues across all vehicle subsystems (chassis, powertrain, compute, sensing, and networking).

Direct the daily workflow of the Regional FSE team, overseeing performance management, career development, resource allocation, and team building.

Perform deep root-cause analysis using logs, vehicle diagnostics, and fleet data to resolve high-impact issues and prevent recurrence.

Partner closely with HQ FSE team to improve diagnostics, tooling, and issue detection capabilities.

Lead field validation efforts, including hardware/software bring-up and functional testing for new components and system updates.

Develop and maintain scalable troubleshooting guides, SOPs, and countermeasures to improve repair efficiency and fleet reliability.

Support operational needs by traveling occasionally, with travel requirements of up to 25%

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering

At least 8 years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles, with hands-on exposure to sensors

Understanding of vehicle hardware/software architectures, including communications, diagnostics, and safe troubleshooting of low/high voltage systems Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS), and how to safely troubleshoot

Proven ability to perform holistic system-level problem solving and drive issues down to root cause at the component level
