About the Role

Miro is looking for a visionary Staff Product Designer to lead the charge for our Prototypes product. This isn’t just about refining a feature; it’s about defining the future of how millions of people bring their ideas to life.

As a key leader within the Canvas Modes stream, you will lead the long-term design strategy for Prototyping at Miro. About the Role

Miro is looking for a Machine Learning Research Engineer to serve as the technical "North Star" for our Machine Learning organization. You will operate as an Individual Contributor, driving the architectural decisions behind the "Intelligent Canvas."

Your challenge is unique in the industry: You are not just processing text. You are building models that understand spatial relationships, visual diagrams, and unstructured collaboration. About the Role

As a Senior Product Designer for the Growth Monetisation team, you will design the experiences that directly influence how users perceive value, convert to paid plans, and expand their investment in Miro across both product-led growth and enterprise motion. • Lead the European Team: Directly manage and develop the Europe-based People Operations team, fostering a culture of care, empathy, and high performance. Miro is looking for a Lead Research Scientist to serve as the technical "North Star" for our Machine Learning organization. You will operate as a high-level Individual Contributor (Staff/Principal level), driving the architectural decisions behind the "Intelligent Canvas."

Your challenge is unique in the industry: You are not just processing text. You are building models that understand spatial relationships, visual diagrams, and unstructured collaboration. You will research, prototype, and ship novel architectures that combine Large Language Models (LLMs), Computer Vision, and Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to make Miro the smartest collaboration platform on earth.

What you’ll do

• Pioneer Novel Architectures: Move beyond off-the-shelf APIs. You will design and train custom architectures that fuse multimodal inputs (text, sketches, diagrams, screenshots, code, etc.) into a unified representation of user intent.
• Bridge Theory and Production: You will read the latest papers (NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR) on Monday and have a working prototype by Friday. You bridge the gap between academic theory and scalable, low-latency production systems.
• Define the Technical Strategy: While Managers define what we build, you define how we build it. You will make high-stakes decisions on model selection (e.g., Diffusion vs. Autoregressive), build vs. buy, and fine-tuning strategies (LoRA, Q-LoRA).
• Mentorship & Technical Excellence: You will elevate the entire ML research engineering organization by conducting rigorous code reviews, hosting paper reading groups, and mentoring research engineers on mathematical fundamentals and experimental design.
• Solve the "Unsolved": You will tackle ambiguous problems with no StackOverflow answers—such as "How do we generate a valid UML diagram from a rough sticky-note brain dump?" or "How do we detect 'agreement' in a spatial cluster of comments?"

What you’ll need

• Deep Research Expertise: PhD or equivalent deep industrial experience in Computer Science, Math, or Physics. You have a track record of publishing in top-tier conferences or shipping models that serve millions of users.
• Public Track Record: A portfolio of patents, impactful open-source contributions, or first-author publications in top-tier conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ICLR).
• Mastery of the Modern Stack: You are an expert in PyTorch or JAX. You can implement complex loss functions from scratch and debug distributed training issues on massive GPU clusters.
• Specialization in Structure & Generation: Deep experience in at least one of the following: Generative AI (LLMs/Diffusion), Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), or Geometric Deep Learning. You understand how to model relationships, not just tokens.
• Engineering Rigor: You write clean, modular, production-ready code. You understand the trade-offs between model accuracy and inference latency.
• Communication: You can explain the "Why" behind complex mathematical concepts to Product Managers, Designers, and Executives, turning abstract research into a compelling product vision.

This is not for building a standard GenAI or Recommendation engine. You will lead a team operating at the intersection of Vision, Language, and Graph Theory, working with a dataset unlike any other in the industry: spatial, unstructured, and deeply human collaboration data. You will bridge the gap between open-ended research (LLMs, Diffusion Models, GNNs) and product impact, empowering teams to dream, design, and build faster.

What You'll Do

• Build and lead a world-class applied research team, hiring and mentoring researchers who excel at the intersection of deep learning theory and production engineering.
• Define the research roadmap to support the "Intelligent Canvas," identifying opportunities to model complex user behaviors—from multi-user collaboration on an infinite canvas, to multi-format AI-powered generation (e.g. slide deck, technical diagram, web app prototypes, etc.), and more.
• Pioneer research on unique spatial datasets. Unlike standard text/image corpuses, you will explore massive multimodal and graph-based datasets, uncovering how teams organize information spatially and collaborate together to solve complex multi-modal problems.
• Drive the "Research-to-Product" velocity. You will create the framework for rapidly testing foundation models (e.g., GPT-4, Llama, Stable Diffusion) and fine-tuning them for specific domain tasks (e.g. prototype generation, diagram generation, mindmap generation).
• Cultivate a culture of scientific rigor. Encourage the team to stay at the cutting edge (NeurIPS, CVPR) while maintaining a relentless focus on shipping features that delight users.

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record of technical leadership: 2+ years of experience managing high-performing Applied Science or ML Engineering teams in a product-led tech company or top-tier research lab.
• Multimodal & GenAI Depth: You don't just use APIs; you understand the architecture of Transformers, Diffusion models, and Graph Neural Networks (GNNs). You can guide a team through the complexities of fine-tuning and RAG at scale.

• Work with product, UX, and engineering teams to help shape the product vision and create user-focused content for high-priority AI features and initiatives – ensuring clarity and consistency across the product
• Design and develop prompts, UI copy and error messages to help our users adopt Sidekicks and Flows and get high quality results when using them
• Plan, develop and deliver conversational content that guides users effectively, reduces cognitive load, and aligns with Miro’s voice and tone guidelines
• Contribute to the refinement and application of Miro’s content design guidelines, particularly focused on refining our AI principles and guidance which will ultimately need to live in our design system and MCPs
• Collaborate with design and UX research to conduct user research, test content hypotheses, and iterate solutions based on data and feedback
• Participate in design and product reviews, providing clear rationale for your content design decisions
• Advocate for the value of content design, helping to integrate the discipline into the broader product development process

• Writing and testing system prompts, then debugging the model 
• Defining evaluation criteria with engineering and reviewing AI outputs against quality benchmarks
• Shaping conversation flows and interaction patterns in design crits and tiger teams

What you’ll need

• 6+ years of experience in content design or UX writing, with a strong background in creating content for digital products
• A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create clear, user-focused content and demonstrating the impact on user experience and business goals
• Proven experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX design, and engineering, to deliver seamless content solutions
• Deep understanding of UX writing principles, information architecture, and user-centered design methodologies
• Familiarity with AI products, conversation design, or prompt engineering (you don't need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable getting hands-on with how AI systems behave)
