Scopely's Security team is looking for an Anticheat Engineer to build a new client security function in China. You will design and ship client/server-side protections for large-scale mobile games, combat sophisticated cheating ecosystems, and help ensure fair play for tens of millions of players.

What You Will Do

• Build, and grow the Client Security team in China, setting China specific technical direction, and operational best practices.
• Design, implement, and maintain client-side detections against third‑party cheating tools, modified clients, hooking frameworks, and emulators on Android and iOS.
• Own the client security integration into Scopely's internal anti-cheat platforms working closely with teams to ensure detections are actionable and scalable.
• Define and evolve the obfuscation and hardening strategy for China mobile builds (e.g., binary protection, anti-debugging, anti-tamper, integrity checks), including evaluating and integrating third‑party hardening vendors where appropriate.
• Build and maintain strong coverage for the China mobile ecosystem, including:
• distribution through multiple Android app stores and OEM devices,
• diverse OS/ROM variants and rooted/jailbroken environments,
• and local PC/emulator-based cheating patterns.
• Contribute hands-on code (C++ plus Java/Kotlin and/or Objective‑C/Swift) in security‑sensitive paths, including detection logic, integrity checks, and secure client–server protocols.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in mobile security, game anti-cheat, or client-side security engineering, including time working directly on Android or iOS native code.
• Direct experience with reverse engineering.
• Deep hands-on experience with:
• Android and IOS internals 
• hooking and instrumentation frameworks,
• and common mobile client security attack vectors.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and at least one mobile native language (Java/Kotlin for Android or Objective‑C/Swift for iOS), including experience shipping production code in large apps.

• Database Proficiency: Strong solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server) including query optimization, indexing, and schema design. Good understanding on in-memory database solutions as well as NoSQL databases for scaling across machine clusters
• Cloud Computing: Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Expert knowledge of various testing methodologies and requirements (unit, integration, BVT, stress and performance testing). Able to setup testable framework for automation and white-box testing
• Bachelor or higher degree (or its equivalent) in Computer science, Computer engineering or a directly related field
• Love for video games (not just ours!)

Might Be Nice:

• Experience deploying large-scale microservices and distributed systems
• Good understanding of networking, data storage and security
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Google Cloud Deployment Manager or Azure Resource Manager
• Understanding of a heavily regulated or high-traffic environment (e.g., FinTech, e-commerce, telecommunications)

About The Team

The most tech people of our Data & Consulting division, the title of ‘Data Engineer’ or ‘Software Engineer’ does not describe everything our amazing women and men can do: data engineering, operation management, security, cloud architecture, MLOps, and more.

You will work with the team to identify your clients' needs and define innovative solutions of which you will be ownership from start to end. You manage both its conception and implementation, while also optimising the performance and scalability.

You will also coach others, keep abreast of industry news/updates and get stuck into training sessions with our business partners and suppliers, such as Ali Cloud & Azure & Amazon. You share your knowledge, learnings and success, with the capability of presenting and communicating.

About The Role

• Proficiency with data pipeline building, ETL, open source or traditional relational databases.  
• Proficiency with analytic software programming skills
• Familiarity with Web Development (e.g. Java Spring framework) and Application Development (e.g. APP, H5, Mini Program). 
• Experience with data science methods and scaling data science methods 
• Analytic reasoning and complex problem solving involving mathematical programming and big data problems 
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, Cloud service (Ali Cloud, Azure, AWS)
• Experience with client service and project management
• Must be Fluent in English communication

As a presence and an individual contributor on a small team, you will play a key role in both enhancing a Ruby on Rails backend at the heart of the business and building out a new, more scalable service-driven architecture.

Location: Shanghai, China

• Manage projects and problems of significantly larger scopes
• Formulate an efficient game plan for delivering a stable, well-tested feature on time
• Make technical recommendations that improve the codebase while minimizing risk
• Identify and fix (or ideally avoid) bugs and performance bottlenecks
• Coordinate and communicate seamlessly across other technical and product teams
• Be a helpful and supportive presence on the team, contributing to code reviews and other team processes

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering with Ruby on Rails (Python, Go, PHP, or Java are also acceptable)
• Experience with e-commerce/web applications
• Familiarity and comfortability with the technologies, the tradeoffs, and the design patterns emerging in web services
