About the Role:
Planet is developing the next generation of small satellite buses, featuring high-resolution optical imaging payloads, a space-based data center connected by optical inter-satellite links (OISLs), and high-speed RF/Microwave communication links. We continuously iterate on and develop small spacecraft communication systems—including board-level hardware, antennas, and ground station equipment—to achieve record data rates and link performance. Our system utilizes proprietary and industry-standard modems, transceivers across several bands, optical laser communication systems, and a worldwide network of ground stations.
We are seeking an experienced Satcom Modem Engineer to develop and mature our next-generation onboard satcom links, ground radios, and antenna systems, pushing the frontiers of satellite communications. You will architect, design, simulate, implement, and validate cutting-edge software-defined Satcom radios. Responsibilities include characterizing the SDR link performance of Planet’s next-generation S through Ka-band and optical terminals, selecting vendors, and managing subcontractors for Satcom solutions. You will facilitate and conduct rigorous testing on space and ground communication subsystems to ensure flight readiness. Success requires close collaboration with RF, EE, Flight SW, systems engineering, missions, and manufacturing teams.

About the Role:
The Electro-Optical Systems team at Planet is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to help drive the design of payloads in Planet’s fleet of Earth-imaging satellites. Your mission will be to champion our payload design efforts, with a specific focus on opto-mechanical design and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned opto-mechanical designer who has led optical system engineering efforts across multiple programs from conceptual design through flight. As a member of the Electro-Optical Systems team within Planet’s Space Systems division, you will be a key contributor and stakeholder in Planet’s agile aerospace approach to spacecraft design, and will work hand-in-glove with optical engineering, structural analysis, thermal engineering, and reliability & qualification, as well as the rest of Planet’s leading-edge spacecraft design and manufacturing teams.

Associate Engineer positions typically last for twelve weeks, and are salaried roles designed for students who have already received a bachelor's degree (or who will have done so before working at Astranis).

Senior Thermal Engineer
As an Astranis Senior Thermal Analyst, you will serve as the technical authority on thermal modeling and simulation. While you will work closely with Astranis space hardware, your primary responsibility is the virtual validation of the vehicle thermal system. You will drive the analysis strategy for everything from high-power electronics to full spacecraft architectures, ensuring that our predictions match reality.
The ideal candidate has a detailed understanding of the principals of FEA as well as the specifics about Thermal Desktop and/or Ansys Mechanical / Icepak. You have a deep expertise in solver settings, to determine appropriate mesh sizing, time-stepping, and convergence criteria to optimize run-time without sacrificing accuracy.

The Systems Modeling Team has tremendous power to shape Zipline’s products. We develop physics-based models and use them to architect and optimize our aircraft, as well as the supporting logistics system. What type of battery chemistry should be selected, in light of requirements for lifetime, mass, power capability, and energy? You’ll ask critical questions at the system-level: How much range is an acceptable trade-off for payload mass? How does unfavorable weather impact aircraft performance capabilities? As a Senior Motor Control Engineer at Zipline, you’ll be responsible for shipping high-performance motor controller firmware for Zipline’s family of proprietary motor controllers. Role Summary
In this role, you will drive end-to-end reliability for our Solid-State Transformer (SST) platform, from concept to field deployment. You will lead cross-functional teams to mitigate program risks via Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)/Fault Tree analysis (FTA) and set clear reliability benchmarks for supplier selection. About the Role:
Planet is working on the next generation small satellite bus that will host a high resolution optical imaging payload (Pelican) and a hyperspectral payload (Carbon Mapper). Planet has continuously iterated and developed small spacecraft communication systems including board level hardware, antennas, and ground station equipment that produce record data rates. Our system consists of transceivers in several bands, as well as a worldwide network of ground stations.
We are seeking an RF/Optical Communications summer intern to develop our next-generation onboard, ground radios, modems and antenna systems that push the frontiers of satellite communications. As a RF/Optical Comms Intern you will assist the team in making evolutionary and revolutionary improvements in their performance, reliability and cost, including the design of next-generation S-band through Ka-band radios, Intersatellite Optical communications and a variety of antennas as well as contribute to various ongoing projects. You will participate in design and implementation of communication systems, PCB layout projects and interface with cross functional teams - electrical, FPGA, DSP, software and mechanical engineers to address challenging design issues.
This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco office 3 days per week.

This position will support a variety of multi-objective tidal wetland and coastal restoration design projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta, California Coast, and throughout California. This is a full-time salary exempt role with hybrid work expectations. About The Role
HP IQ’s Wireless Technology Team works cross-functionally with electrical engineering, software, product design, industrial design, program management, and operations to deliver successful products to market. About The Role
HP IQ is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to drive end to end system architecture, modeling, and optimization for wearable platforms. The candidate will build power models, define system use cases and operating modes, partner with product and engineering teams to meet aggressive power targets, and define manufacturing tests and field telemetry for NPI.

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer at Vivodyne, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team pushing the boundaries of automated, large-scale "organ-on-a-chip" robotics and related manufacturing systems. Your focus will be on developing and optimizing hardware and software that orchestrates robotic arms, embedded controllers, and microfluidic systems to enable high-throughput, high-precision biological workflows.
This role requires expertise across hardware and software, but primarily hardware. From high-level motion control and machine vision to robotics programming and embedded firmware.
