Software Simulation Engineer

We are looking for a Software Simulation Engineer to design and build the core architecture of our simulation platform. You will be responsible for the infrastructure that validates our intelligent systems before real-world deployment. Your focus will be on creating a scalable, high-performance virtual environment that seamlessly integrates flight software, autonomy stacks, and external models.

Role

• Simulation Architecture: Design, build, and maintain the core infrastructure, data pipelines, and timing mechanisms for our system-level and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulation environments.
• Framework Development: Build robust APIs and interfaces that allow cross-functional teams to easily plug their specific sensor, actuator, and physics models into the broader simulation.
• Software Integration: Integrate flight software, autonomy stacks, and control algorithms directly into the simulator.

Earth Station Engineer  

As an Earth Station Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of satellite earth stations and supporting infrastructure. Leveraging your technical expertise and operational experience, you will ensure reliable, safe, and compliant satellite communications. This includes supporting 24/7 global operations, diagnosing and resolving issues, and coordinating closely with internal teams, vendors, and external partners.

Role 

• Provide end-to-end technical oversight and operational support for earth stations, including RF/IF chains, antenna systems, tracking, and environmental systems

This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with our Marketing team to help tell the story of how Astranis is transforming the connectivity industry. You'll gain exposure to product launches, customer announcements, and media strategy, all within a fast-paced startup environment building technology that's launching into space.

• Draft content for internal and external communications to support product launches and company milestones.

This position will be responsible for shaping and capturing U.S. government (USG) civil space business opportunities. The ideal candidate for this role has both technical and/or business training as well as customer-facing experience with the civil space community including NASA, NOAA, and national laboratories, with a strong background in developing new space missions and concepts. This position will include personal interaction with Government program managers, senior decision makers, industry partners, and stakeholder associations. The position involves regular exchanges with Astranis senior management, program management, engineering, operations, and legal teams. This position will report to the Senior Director of USG Sales and Solutions Engineering: Gilbert Tseng.

Role

• Support the building of relationships and interacting with Astranis customers and partners within the civil space communities, including NASA, NOAA, national laboratories
• Support the broader USG sales teams in their interactions with Astranis customers and partners within these agencies

You will lead the team obtaining and maintaining market access and landing rights authorizations. You will also engage in regulatory processes to modify national regulatory regimes to facilitate future market access for Astranis satellites.

• Design high-level architecture and manage vehicle integration and test operations
• Define and author flight hardware integration flows, plans, processes, and procedures
• Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration
• Evaluate non-conformances to determine root cause and create actionable items and system improvements
• Work hands-on with flight hardware at build, test and launch sites to ensure mission success
• Design ground support equipment to assist with the assembly, integration and test of the spacecraft
• Create, maintain and communicate detailed schedules, ensuring the team is aware of tasks and deadlines, including resource identification and acquisition
• Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team

Requirements

• Bachelor's of Science degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
• 2+ years experience in hands-on mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or equivalent role (including internships or club experience)
• Hands-on experience with handling, lifting, or building complex assemblies
• A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-pace environment and hands-on design and/or process and development
• Ability to not only find problems, but also quickly identify and evaluate multiple solutions
• Strong communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
• Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and team focus with extensive multitasking and organizational experience

Role:

• Work with mission engineers to design, create, test, and execute satellite operations procedures, including commissioning procedures and nominal operations procedures
• Investigate anomalies and work with the mission operations and engineering team to safely resolve them
• Participate in commanding activities of our first five operational spacecraft
• Help develop tools and processes to enable the Mission Operations team to maintain a high level of service uptime for our customer
• Automate manual processes using scripting and software tools

Requirements:

• Have a B.S. degree in an engineering, physics, or computer science related major.
• Experience in scripting with Python
• Basic understanding of satellite systems
• Highly motivated, self-starting, and able to perform duties without supervision
