Job Description

Tempo is seeking a hands-on Materials Process Technician to support materials development, testing, and pilot-scale production for high-temperature energy storage systems. This role is suited for candidates with practical laboratory or manufacturing experience (e.g., pharma, ceramics, refractory, chemical processing, or similar industries) who can operate equipment, execute test plans, and support materials processing activities. This is a high-ownership, execution-focused role. Candidates must demonstrate hands-on capability through a practical skills assessment as part of the hiring process.

Requirements

• 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment 
• Experience working with lab equipment and material processing 
• Ability to follow technical procedures and maintain accurate records 
• Strong attention to detail and reliability 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with lab instruments such as TGA, SEM, dilatometer, PSA, pycnometer

Job Status and Compensation Range

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $24/hour to $26/hour + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Position Overview:

We are seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer in Test, Cloud Applications to lead the design and evolution of quality engineering architecture across our web applications, cloud services, mobile platforms, and data systems.

This role combines deep technical leadership with hands-on engineering, operating as a working lead responsible for both architectural quality initiatives and the mentorship and management of a team of SDETs. The Staff SDET will guide a small team of engineers while remaining actively involved in designing and building scalable automation frameworks and validation platforms.

The role focuses on building engineering-grade automation, quality platforms, and validation strategies that enable teams to deliver reliable systems at scale. The Staff SDET acts as a quality architect, partnering with engineering, platform, and product teams to embed validation directly into system design, CI/CD pipelines, and data workflows.

Automation Platform Development

• Design and implement scalable automation frameworks and validation platforms using Python
• Build reusable automation libraries and developer-facing tooling that enable teams to validate functionality earlier in the development cycle
• Architect automated validation strategies across:

Cloud & Distributed Systems Validation

• Partner with infrastructure and DevOps teams to embed quality gates within deployment pipelines
• Drive improvements in system reliability, performance, and resilience testing

Data Platform Quality Engineering

• Architect automated validation for data pipelines, data transformations, and data platform services
• Establish frameworks to validate data integrity, schema evolution, lineage, and reproducibility
• Partner with Data Engineering teams to ensure quality is built into analytics and machine learning
• Partner with data science and ML Ops teams to ensure reproducibility, monitoring, and validation of ML models within production systems, including drift detection and model performance validation

Technical Leadership & Engineering Influence

• Act as a technical leader across engineering teams, influencing architecture and engineering practices to improve product quality and system reliability
• Collaborate with product management, development, and DevOps teams to align testing strategies with product goals
• Facilitate the adoption of AI/ML/LLM-enabled testing strategies where appropriate
• Contribute to system and design reviews to ensure new components are observable, testable, and resilient
• Shape the direction of the Quality Engineering discipline, driving adoption of modern testing approaches and tooling workflows

Working Lead & Team Leadership

• Serve as a working lead and manager for a team of SDETs, providing architectural guidance and mentorship
• Conduct performance reviews, support career development, and foster engineering excellence within the team
• Guide the team’s technical direction while remaining hands-on in framework design and automation architecture
• Coordinate quality engineering initiatives across projects to ensure alignment with organizational priorities

Data-Driven Quality Insights

• Establish metrics, dashboards, and observability strategies that provide real-time visibility into product health and release readiness
• Provide engineering leadership with data-driven insights into system reliability, defect trends, and risk areas
• Investigate system behaviors and diagnostic data to identify root causes and drive cross-team issue resolution
• Ensure traceability between requirements, implementation, and verification

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering or SDET roles working with complex distributed systems, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role 
• Strong software development skills in Python, including building automation, tooling, or validation systems
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing automation frameworks or validation platforms across multiple layers of the stack (UI, API, service, integration, and data)
• Strong experience validating web applications, APIs, and distributed microservices architectures
• Demonstrated ability to integrate automated validation strategies into CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of modern software testing methodologies and quality engineering practices, including functional, integration, and system testing
• Experience implementing browser automation frameworks such as Playwright or Cypress
• Strong debugging and analytical skills, including the ability to investigate complex failures and support root cause analysis

Position Overview:

The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (Sr. SDET) is a software engineer responsible for designing and implementing automated validation systems that ensure the reliability and quality of software applications and services.

Working closely with product developers, platform engineers, and quality teams, the Senior SDET builds automation frameworks, validation tools, and testing strategies that support reliable releases across web applications, cloud services, mobile platforms, and supporting data systems.

Unlike traditional QA roles, the Senior SDET contributes code alongside development teams and plays a key role in improving testing practices, automation coverage, and CI/CD workflows. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience

The Building Engineer I is responsible for maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, focusing on performing routine maintenance tasks, responding to tenant requests, and ensuring systems operate safely under the guidance of senior engineers.

We’re seeking a Senior Staff Firmware Engineer to join our collaborative team in developing robust and reliable firmware for next-generation IoT devices. In this role, you will develop firmware, device drivers and support system integration efforts for  ULP IoT solution, focusing on performance, reliability, and maintainability. Experience with TrustZone and Trusted Firmware-M (TF-M) is required.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Design and develop embedded firmware for IoT devices, targeting ARM Cortex-M micro controllers 
•    Experience with ARM TrustZone  and Trusted Firmware-M (TF-M) for secure firmware partitioning desired
•    Implement and optimize low-level drivers and integrate with hardware abstraction layers (HAL)
•    Develop secure boot and firmware update mechanisms, ensuring robust and reliable device operation
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, security) to define and implement firmware features
•    Debug, test, and validate firmware on target hardware, using J-Link, Oscilloscope and logic analyzers
•    Contribute to documentation of firmware architecture, design decisions, and implementation details
•    Security-focused system design, secure boot, and trusted execution environments
•    Memory partitioning and isolation in ARM Cortex-M micro controllers.
•    Secure OTA updates and lifecycle management for IoT devices

Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
•    10+ years of experience in embedded firmware development for IoT or embedded systems; 
•    Background or experience in security-related technologies (e.g., cryptography, secure coding practices, cybersecurity).   
•    Strong proficiency in C/C++ and low-level driver development.
•    Familiarity with working on SDK-based development
•    Familiarity with RTOS environments (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr)
•    Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up and debugging tools
•    Excellent communication and collaboration skills
•    Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
•    Willingness to learn and contribute to a team-focused environment

As a Sr. Staff/ Principal Digital Design Engineer, you will be working with a team of design engineers to develop novel SoC products for connectivity and communications. You will also be a key contributor to product definition and resulting detailed device performance and functional requirements specifications. In addition to delivering high quality digital solutions in the context of the product architecture, the team supports other disciplines with work product such as Verilog stimulus files, test benches for device bring up/characterization, test vectors for product manufacturing, etc.

Job Requirements

• MS/PhD EE/CS preferred
• 10 or more years of experience digital SoC development required
• Experience bringing highly integrated mixed signal SoCs to commercial mass production
• Experience with embedded systems, wireless protocols, power management, signal processing and standard digital interfaces
• Deep RTL design knowledge (Verilog/VHDL) and SystemVerilog, checkers, and other design verification techniques
• Deep knowledge of front-end tools (Verilog simulators, linters, clock-domain crossing checkers)
• Proven knowledge of synthesis, static timing, DFT and (Front to Back) F2B digital SoC design flow
• Experience with ATPG, fault grading, scan, BIST, DFT/DFM
• Proven knowledge of SystemVerilog assertions,
• Knowledge of languages such as C/C++, Perl, Tcl and Python
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Good skills and interest in mentorship
• Ability to foresee issues and design in flexibility and workarounds for both known and unknown unknowns
• Expert in RTL design and implementation (architecture and micro-architecture)
• Deep knowledge of front-end tools and flow - Verilog simulators, linters, synthesis, static timing, clock trees, power simulation, floor plan development, and power supply implementation
• Deep knowledge of system modeling and verification using System Verilog or System C
• Proven knowledge in acquiring and integrating 3rd party IP
• High speed logic design (GHz+) , and high speed clock distribution experience.
