Mission Summary:

The SQE position is based at the Pittsburgh Technical Center, Pittsburgh PA, and reports to the Supplier Quality Manager based at the Las Vegas, Nevada Technical Center. Quarterly travel to Supplier manufacturing sites is anticipated (at a minimum). 

The SQE will be responsible for executing the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process with Suppliers selected for potential Generation 3 activities, in addition to pursuing continuous improvement and warranty reduction for the current Generation 2 build. The role involves conducting Program Reviews against established program milestones and escalating issues as necessary. • Ensure supplier adherence to APQP processes, including product Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submission and approval requirements.
• Review and approve supplier quality plans (Control Plans, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis [PFMEA]) for new components and assemblies essential for vehicle launch.
• Conduct reviews of supplier manufacturing processes and quality management systems.
• Facilitate root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions for supplier quality issues.
• Execute on-site supplier visits to conduct root cause analysis and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions related to supplier quality issues.
• Implement and monitor supplier part qualification and certification processes (PPAP, Run at Rate).

The expected base salary range for this full-time position in California is $179,200 - $268,800 USD. We are seeking a Staff Robotics Engineer - Perception to take full technical ownership of one of Gather AI's two production platforms — our drone-based inventory scanning system or our MHE Vision product — deployed today in customer warehouses. You'll bring systems-level rigor to a platform that already works, with a mandate to make it faster to deploy, easier to operate, and more reliable at scale. 

This is a high-ownership, high-impact role, critical to the quality of every scan our system performs. You will drive technical direction and deliver measurable impact on production systems serving real customers.

What You’ll Do

• Own the camera and imaging subsystem audit across MHEV and Modal: characterize existing performance (barcode decode rates, read distances, motion blur impact) and identify top bottlenecks
• Evaluate and select camera and sensor hardware — specifying resolution, sensor size, lens selection, and exposure control for industrial warehouse environments
• Implement and tune auto-exposure, gain control, and lighting strategies for variable warehouse lighting conditions, including motion blur mitigation for moving platforms

The base salary range for this position is $112,000-$180,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. • Experience developing wearable medical devices or compact battery-powered consumer electronics

The Role:

ElevateBio is seeking an Automation Engineer II to play a key role in owning the BaseCamp facilities controls and automation systems. This role develops support models to ensure reliable operations, manages vendor and software support contracts, and provides technical support for manufacturing, quality, and research automated systems. The Automation Engineer II supports capital projects and facility expansions, ensures new assets are integrated into the automation infrastructure, troubleshoots manufacturing equipment, and partners closely with Quality and Validation to ensure compliance and system readiness.

Success in this role requires strong system ownership, collaboration, and a customer focused mindset. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in facility controls and infrastructure such as BMS, BAS, BacNet, and MTPS; automation systems including SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and data historians; and regulatory requirements such as 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, and data integrity. A passion for learning, attention to detail, and hands on problem solving are essential. Robust, lean automation and data collection are critical to supporting ElevateBio’s strategy to rapidly launch next generation cell and gene therapies for patients.

 Here’s What You’ll Do:

• Manage control and automation systems projects through the entire project life cycle and ensure that systems are maintained in compliance state after go live.
• Work hand in hand with Facilities, Engineering, MSAT and Operations teams to support their projects and operational needs
• Troubleshoot issues with facilities control systems, automation systems or related infrastructure to ensure and improve manufacturing performance (e.g. yield improvements, etc.) while maintaining all those systems in compliance with cGMPs.
• Provide configuration, development, and break/fix day-to-day support of automation systems.
• Manage automation system documentation and SOPs, prepare technical and user documentation, and conduct system training
• Lead automation-related investigations into Quality Event Reports and implement the necessary corrective actions.
• Lead system maintenance and manage automation life cycle (review application patching, document test plans, and execute test scripts)
• Coordinate with business users for development of reports (batch, material, audit trails, etc.) to support efficient operations.
• Manage automation contractors supporting projects, day-to-day systems operations, planned and unplanned maintenance activities and ensure they comply with safety and quality systems.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related technological field
• 6+ years’ experience in life-science regulated environment (e.g. FDA) with working knowledge of the regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical applications  
• 4+ years’ experience integrating/interfacing equipment to control systems via OPC, Ethernet IP, etc.
• Experience with PLCs (e.g. Allen Bradley & Siemens), SCADA (e.g. Ignition), Batch Operations (S88/S95), OSI Soft Pi Historian, BMS/BAS (e.g. Siemens Desigo)
• Control panel and automation hardware and infrastructure design experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of 21CFR Part 11, Annex 11, and GAMP5

Responsibilities/Functions:

• Manage all Survey and Layout Activities
• Coordinate and schedule work with Project Directors, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents and Estimating
• Maintaining a high level of expertise in GPS/Survey equipment, software and methodology

• Coordinates surveying activities with the assigned engineer to meet the construction requirements

Essential skills and experience:

• The ideal candidate will be licensed or working toward licensure and have a minimum of 1-3 years of practical field experience in Heavy Highway construction with use of Machine Control and the ability to use design software such as AutoCAD, C3D or Carlson Civil.

• 3+ years of professional experience building perception systems that incorporate camera, LiDAR, and radar data
