As an IT Specialist, you are the "connective tissue" of our organization’s technical operations. You aren't just a troubleshooter; you are a business enabler who ensures our local and remote teams have the tools, connectivity, and support they need to succeed. You will act as the primary owner of the Columbus office IT infrastructure and the technical onboarding experience, managing everything from the full device lifecycle and physical inventory to the maintenance of a robust knowledge base, high-performance conference rooms, and the strategic execution of on-site IT initiatives.
This role requires a proactive mindset: you don’t just wait for something to break; you identify friction points and solve them before they impact the team. Note: This is a 100% on-site role in our Columbus office to support physical infrastructure, inventory, and facility needs. Hours for this position will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm ET.

The New York Times National desk is seeking a versatile, experienced correspondent based in Ohio to cover the state and Mid-Atlantic region, collaborating closely with colleagues in the region.
You are well-sourced in the state and experienced covering everything that makes the state tick – including its people, politics, identity and eccentricities. You have a strong understanding of the area and can unearth revealing and surprising stories for readers in the state and beyond.
You write quickly, clearly and accurately on deadline. Creativity with a variety of storytelling formats and embracing new story forms are essential.
This role may require extensive travel within the United States. This is a NY Guild role based in Ohio.
Responsibilities:
You will produce a portfolio of work that ranges from breaking news stories to enterprise, accountability pieces and scoops, and embraces a variety of story formats and collaborations — that as a body of work helps readers understand your region.
You will be the authority on your region, helping to conceive coverage plans, respond swiftly to breaking news, and drive a sense of what is coming next, both by watching themes in the region and keeping tabs on upcoming events.
You will cultivate a deep source network of authorities, politicians, sheriffs, union reps, cultural figures, law enforcement, agency representatives and beyond – positioning yourself to tap a source in a given news moment, from scoops to interviews and real-time updates. Discern which stories to write to further develop and engage your sources.
You will write clear, concise, and engaging news stories that adhere to journalistic style guidelines.
You will monitor your region on a constant basis, by scanning competition and guiding editors on the relevance of stories coming from the region.
You will write with authority, clarity, and independently.
You will brainstorm and develop ideas with colleagues in your region or on adjacent beats. Initiate collaborations when opportunities arise. Keep in regular contact with your fellow reporters and editors.
Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
You will report to a National Editor.
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years’ experience at a journalism or media company
5+ years of experience of reporting from a region for a national and global audience
Strong reporting and writing skills that demonstrate mastery of journalistic style and standards, including ethical and superb news judgment
A portfolio that includes politics, news, enterprise and analysis
