We're looking for a Senior Engineer with a strong background in computer science fundamentals, systems design, experience in the Java ecosystem, streaming systems, and data-intensive applications to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and optimizing the underlying data structures, algorithms, and database interactions that power our generative AI platform, code generation and migration tools. This role will be based out of North America in the PST and MST zones only.

The ideal candidate for this role will have

• 2+ years of  engineering experience in backend systems, distributed systems, or core platform development
• Experience in one or several of Java, Rust, C/C++, and/or Python, with a strong understanding of systems-level programming, memory management, and performance tuning
• Experience with streaming data platforms such as Apache Kafka and Change Data Capture (CDC) tools like Debezium
• Experience with relational data modeling and hands-on experience with at least one SQL database (Postgres, MySQL, etc)
• Exposure to client-side technologies such as JavaScript and React is a plus
• Good understanding of algorithms, data structures and their time and space complexity
• Curiosity, a positive attitude, and a drive to continue learning

• Familiarity with cloud-native distributed systems (e.g., Kubernetes)

Position Expectations

• Contribute high-quality, well-tested backend code to the data migration engine and core components of our generative AI orchestration platform

What You'll Do

Summary

QuEra Computing is seeking a Quantum Scientist to develop system- and algorithm-level performance models for large-scale neutral-atom quantum computers. This role focuses on translating device- and architecture-level models into quantitative estimates of algorithmic fidelity, runtime, and time-to-solution for representative quantum workloads.

Working at the interface of quantum algorithms, architecture and benchmarking, you will analyze how hardware constraints and effective error models impact end-to-end computational performance. You will develop system-level performance and runtime models that map device and architecture characteristics to algorithmic success probability, throughput, and time-to-solution. You will collaborate closely with hardware theory, experimental, and application development teams. Your work will directly support internal design decisions and external benchmarking efforts, including participation in programs such as DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI). Kairos Power is seeking a Director of Product Cost Strategy and Forecasting to lead the development and execution of the company’s product cost architecture and forecasting systems. This leader will own the methodologies, tools, and processes that enable Kairos Power to estimate and forecast the cost of its reactor systems, fuel, salt, and supporting infrastructure with accuracy, transparency, and consistency. These cost insights will directly inform corporate forecasting, pricing, contracting, and investment decisions as the company transitions from demonstration to commercial deployment.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Director of Product Cost Strategy and Forecasting will collaborate closely with the Director of FP&A, Cost Accounting Manager, and technical leaders across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain. The role requires exceptional cross-functional coordination and the ability to bridge technical, financial, and operational disciplines. The successful candidate will combine strong analytical capability with a practical understanding of engineered systems and manufacturing economics to drive predictable, competitive, and continuously improving product costs across Kairos Power’s programs.

Responsibilities

Forecasting and Methodology

• In close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, support and coach the relevant technology teams and cost owners in the development of an enterprise-wide cost forecasting framework that integrates engineering, manufacturing, and financial data to inform planning, pricing, and contracting decisions
• Develop and maintain parameterized cost models across major domains—including salt, fuel, reactor hardware, construction, and shared infrastructure—ensuring transparency, traceability, and consistency in assumptions and data sources.
• Define and document cost estimation methodologies, inputs, and governance processes to ensure alignment with corporate forecasting and investor-facing financial models.
• Establish and manage a regular forecasting cadence synchronized with company planning cycles, enabling leadership to make data-driven investment, pricing, and contracting decisions.

The salary for this position is $209,400 to $261,800 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters.
