Overview

As the Battery Safety/Regulations Engineer, you will be at the forefront of defining and implementing safety measures and regulatory compliance for our electric vehicle battery systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to navigate and adhere to industry standards, ensuring the highest safety standards are met. This position requires a deep understanding of battery safety, regulatory requirements, and a passion for contributing to the success of an electric vehicle startup.

Battery Safety Compliance:

• Ensure battery systems comply with safety standards and regulations, including but not limited to UN38.3, ISO 26262, and other relevant industry standards.
• Conduct safety assessments and risk analyses to identify and address potential safety issues.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay abreast of global regulations affecting electric vehicle batteries.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies and agencies to ensure compliance with regional and international standards.

Safety Documentation:

• Develop and maintain safety documentation, including safety plans, hazard analyses, and safety cases.
• Prepare and submit documentation required for regulatory approvals and certifications.

Testing and Validation:

• Collaborate with testing and validation teams to design and execute safety tests for battery systems.
• Analyze test data and implement improvements based on safety performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with hardware and software engineering teams to integrate safety features into battery system designs.
• Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and testing agencies to ensure alignment with safety standards.

Continuous Improvement:

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to battery safety and regulatory compliance.
• Provide expertise and guidance on emerging safety technologies and standards.

Location & Travel Expectations:

• This role will be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC or Novi, Michigan. 
• This role requires daily attendance in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design and engineering of air suspension components including air springs, compressors, valves, height sensors, lines, reservoirs, and electronic control hardware. 
• Ensure implementation of specifications, DFMEAs, and performance targets. 
• Review/Release 3D models, drawings, and engineering documents. 
• Review internal/external development plans, and review test data. 
• Analyze test results, identify root causes, and drive design improvements. 
• Support vehicle-level tuning and calibration engineers in the development of desired ride, comfort, and handling. 
• Work with controls engineers to develop and refine air suspension control strategies (leveling, damping, load management, compressor duty cycle management). 
• Validate system behavior using HIL/SIL tools, CAN logs, and vehicle tests with integration engineers. 
• Support program timing, cost targets, supplier deliverables, and APQP processes. 
• Lead technical discussions with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams.

What you’ll do

• Lead tire testing & tuning activities
• Develop and execute test plans for tire characterization, including objective and subjective evaluations
• Perform tire evaluation on road and offroad in a variety of proving grounds and test sites
• Prepare detailed test reports with subjective evaluations, objectivations and define next steps
• Analyze physical test data, including K&C results, and correlate with simulation models

Be responsible for the electrical hardware design and release of electrical switches and switch modules. Your scope can cover from clean sheet of paper through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for Scout rugged SUV’s and pick-ups.

• Work with Studio, Concept, Purchasing and Finance counterparts to develop technical specifications in support of the quoting and sourcing process.
• Manage supplier resources efficiently to deliver components and systems that meet cost, timing, and quality targets.
• Work with suppliers to develop robust electrical design verification and validation plans, perform virtual and physical testing, and ensure issues are resolved prior to program validation signoff milestones.
• Define electrical interfaces for switch modules that conform with vehicle EE architecture, power distribution, grounding, diagnostics, and network communication requirements.
• Collaborate with software and systems teams on switch logic, diagnostics, and fault handling.
• Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.

• Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
• Knowledge of diagnostics, DTCs, and switch fault handling.
• Experience dealing with industrial design studio and CMF (color, material and finish) requirements.

What you’ll do

Assist in the development of the powertrain and drive system integration for Scout pick-up trucks and rugged SUVs (BEV/EREV)

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans for electronic drivetrain and chassis control systems including (but not limited to):  
  • All Wheel Drive Torque Distribution 
  • Brake Torque Vectoring 
  • Driver Steering Recommendation 
  • Drag Torque Regulation 
  • Drive Slip Regulation 
• Hands on calibration of customer focused chassis control systems to meet the Ride, Steering, Handling, Stability, and Braking performance demands of an emerging electric vehicle market. 
• Carry out in-depth analysis of software documentation and feature set labeling to ensure clarity, accuracy and alignment with product functionality. 
• Analyze and optimize chassis and propulsion feature sets for performance, efficiency and diagnostic functions. 
• Conduct simulation and real-world testing to evaluate the performance of electronic chassis control systems in normal, adverse, and emergency scenarios. 
• Perform in vehicle limit handling on high friction, low friction and off-road driving environments at various test locations and environments. 
• Develop and execute plans to meet program milestones, regulatory requirements, and a successful launch. 
• Partner with other concept & systems architect teams to produce solutions to engineering & functional challenges 
• Coordinate and collaborate with suppliers on integration and validation plans and activities.

The Senior Thermal Systems Design Release Engineer (DRE) serves as the technical leader and end to end owner of advanced thermal management components and subsystems across multiple vehicle programs. • Coordinate inverter calibration activities across internal teams and suppliers, including alignment on requirements, calibration strategy, software maturity, validation status, and release timelines 
• Lead and contribute to inverterrelated calibration topics such as torque delivery, efficiency, thermal behavior, diagnostics, and overall drivability across operating conditions 
• Own the development and calibration of Scoutspecific OffRoad functions, from concept to series release, ensuring a robust and authentic offroad driving experience 
• Define and manage OffRoad function requirements, interfaces, and operating strategies, including support for vehicles equipped with a mechanicallocking differentials and other off-road features

Compensation at Inspire11 
Inspire11 follows Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Pay Act of 1963, the Illinois Human Rights Act, the Illinois Equal Wage Act, and the Illinois Equal Pay Act of 2003. We believe that people performing the same role at the same level, with similar levels of ability or experience, should be similarly compensated. We also believe that the most critical factors driving compensation should be an Eleven’s skill, experience, performance, responsibility, and effort. We may also consider an employee’s length of service, relevant education, training, or certification, and the requirements of a specific job. We may also consider whether the cost of living or competition for talent in specific markets requires adjustments in compensation for employees in those markets. Bonuses 
We may allow employees in Sales, Recruiting, or Leadership to earn periodic bonuses based on sales, revenue, client-specific or practice-specific targets. These targets are communicated to each eligible employee via offer letter or annual update. All such target-based bonuses are calculated based on the Company and an individual’s periodic performance and will only be awarded if: (a) the employee is meeting performance expectations and is an employee in good standing of the Company; (b) the target is met; and (c) the Company’s current financial performance and market conditions permit the bonus to be paid out. All periodic bonuses are discretionary and are earned only when paid out.   

Each year, the Company will decide whether the Company’s financial performance, market performance, and business realities allow it to create an annual bonus pool. If the Company decides that annual bonuses may be awarded, then the Leadership Team will grant annual bonuses to employees in good standing based on the same factors discussed in the previous paragraph while also considering employees’ diligence, performance, expertise, skill, judgment, and experience. To be eligible to participate in this annual bonus pool, an employee must be hired by no later than October 1st of the preceding year. Options or Other Equity in Inspire11 
Inspire11 has a legacy program that allowed certain high-performing employees to purchase shares of the Company through an affiliate. The Company also has a newer program that grants options annually to high-performing employees based on their performance reviews, their managers’ recommendation, and leadership approval. These options have a vesting period associated with them.

Paid Time Off and Leave

In addition, Inspire11 has a self-managed paid time off policy (PTO) that does not set predetermined upper limits on the amount of PTO an employee may take. All PTO must be requested in advance and approved by the appropriate supervisor to ensure client work can continue. All full-time employees are expected to take a minimum of one week of PTO each year.   

Inspire11 offers paid parental leave to full-time employees who have been with the company for at least one year. Birthing parents are eligible for up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave, while non-birthing parents are eligible for up to 6 weeks. Short-term disability (STD) benefits are also provided following childbirth. When combined with PTO and STD, birthing parents may receive a total of 18–20 weeks of paid leave. Lastly, Inspire11 has eight paid holidays.

What you'll do:

As an SRE Observability Architect, your key area of responsibility will be defining the foundational observability architecture that enables scalable, cost-efficient, and highly reliable insight into distributed systems while leading the design of next-generation observability platforms. • Evaluate, select, and standardize observability tooling (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Tempo, Loki, Elastic Stack, OpenTelemetry) to reduce tool sprawl and optimize total cost of ownership.

What you'll bring to the role:

• 5-8 years of experience in Observability Architecture, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Platform/Infrastructure Engineering.

• Post-secondary Diploma/Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Mastery of the OpenTelemetry ecosystem and expert-level knowledge of Prometheus-compatible metrics systems (VictoriaMetrics, Thanos, etc.).

• Advanced experience with tracing systems (Grafana Tempo, Jaeger) and log aggregation platforms (Loki, Elasticsearch, Google BigQuery).

• Expert-level proficiency in cloud infrastructure (GCP strongly preferred) and Kubernetes architecture.

Job Description:

• The EE Architecture – Domain Architect is responsible to define the optimized portfolio of architecture  solutions for a specific domain/subsystem (e.g. ADAS, Infotainment, Chassis, etc) working with subsystem and component owners of the domain.
• Expertise in the Domain is required to be effective in this  position along with overall vehicle electrical architecture knowledge.

Responsibilities:

Job Description:

• The EE Architecture Engineer will be responsible for providing the architecture solutions to specific vehicle  platforms/top hats.
• They need to have a holistic understanding of vehicle electrical architecture to provide the  architecture solutions/releases that satisfy the vehicle program needs, working with stakeholders inside and  outside the Architecture team.

Responsibilities:

• Understand Platform/Programs applications needs and provide an optimized architecture and power  distribution solution built from the existing archetype portfolio of solutions

The Civil Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Land Development project team by executing various design tasks for land development projects. This position involves active participation in coordination with review agencies and clients. The ideal candidate will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency in the essential functions outlined below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with project team members and clients on various project assignments as directed by senior staff.
Draft, review, and finalize preliminary and final site plans, documents, and computations for senior staff review. This includes, but is not limited to, reports, opinions, and recommendations on project direction, due diligence and site analysis reports, engineer’s opinions of probable costs, project schedules, utility design computations, and local/state permit applications.
