The successful candidate will be a leader of our Middle Office team based in Hong Kong. This role has a primary focus on leading a transformation of our post-trade operational infrastructure through a firm-wide strategic initiative. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for architecting and implementing a new, scalable operational model to support our complex, multi-asset trading strategies across global markets.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Act as the business lead for the selection and implementation of a new firm-wide post-trade platform
• Partner with the internal IT, Trading, and Risk teams to manage the project from design and configuration through to migration and go-live
• Lead the complete re-engineering of core middle office workflows, including trade processing, multi-way reconciliation, cash and collateral management, and corporate actions
• Assume full ownership of the firm’s daily middle office and operations functions, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all post-trade activities
• Serve as the primary escalation point for traders on all trade-related issues, breaks, and position queries, providing timely and effective resolutions
• Develop and mentor the existing Middle Office team, upskilling them to manage the new platform and thrive in a more sophisticated, exception-based environment
• Continuously evaluate and drive improvements for operational systems, processes, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency, break rates, and risk reduction

What you offer

What We Look For In You

• Min. 5+ years of experience in Software Development

• Core Module Engineering: Lead the implementation of critical modules, including matching engines, order books, market data broadcasting, risk management, and clearing/settlement systems.

• Infrastructure & Connectivity: Develop and maintain high-performance trading gateways (REST/WebSocket), market data feeds, and K-line services.

• Performance Optimization: Ensure the stability and performance of high-concurrency, low-latency trading systems through rigorous JVM tuning and system-level optimizations.

• Resilience & Security: Build foundational capabilities for data persistence, comprehensive logging, automated backups, and robust disaster recovery protocols.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Smart Contract and Frontend teams to ensure seamless end-to-end integration across the entire trading lifecycle.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Java Expertise: 8+ years of professional Java development experience, with mastery of multi-threading, concurrency models, and JVM performance tuning.

• DEX Domain Knowledge: 3+ years of direct experience in DEX/Exchange server-side development, with a deep understanding of matching, clearing, and risk control workflows.

• High-Performance Frameworks: Proven experience with LMAX Disruptor, Chronicle, or similar high-performance frameworks; familiarity with Exchange-core architectures is essential.

• Data Management: Expertise in MySQL, Redis, and MongoDB, including advanced database design, index optimization, and distributed transaction management.

• System Reliability: Deep understanding of multi-active database deployments and disaster recovery; ability to lead team-wide emergency drills.

• Messaging & Streaming: Proficiency in Kafka (consumer groups, partitioning, persistence) and real-time data processing.

• Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (Deployment, Service, Ingress, Monitoring); proficiency with AWS or Alibaba Cloud ecosystems (EC2/ECS, RDS, OSS).

YOUR ROLE:

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure using AWS/Azure/Openstack/Kubernetes. You will apply DevOps practices and solutions, conduct client workshops to identify challenges, develop transformation roadmaps, and deliver technical solutions. Additionally, you will coach delivery teams on DevOps best practices and approach projects with an engineering consultant mindset, providing expert guidance and strategic consulting to clients.

Working closely with project teams and business stakeholders, you'll provide technical expertise that enables innovation through both traditional development practices and AI-augmented workflows. Your outstanding interpersonal skills will help you build or be part of a high-performing engineering team that consistently exceeds expectations by effectively combining human expertise with AI capabilities.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide customers with reliable and scalable cloud solutions using AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes.
• Design, build, configure, maintain, and support cloud infrastructure.
• Implement and support various CI/CD, security, and testing tools.
• Develop multi-stage CI/CD pipelines to enable faster and frequent releases to production; assist delivery teams in automating their build and deployment processes.
• Document and share knowledge on developed DevSecOps solutions.
• Conduct client workshops to identify challenges, develop transformation roadmaps, and deliver technical solutions.
• Collaborate with clients and other PALO IT teams to understand client requirements, design comprehensive end-to-end approaches, and implement DevOps solutions that meet client needs.

YOUR PROFILE

• Hands-on experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, SAM, ARM, and Bicep.
• Experience in developing and implementing processes for handling releases from development to operations, including rollback solutions.
• Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and migrating CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines).
• Good understanding of microservice and event-driven architectures and DevSecOps practices for complex distributed systems.
• Proficiency in setting up and configuring monitoring tools (e.g., ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) and security tools (SAST, DAST, etc.).
• Strong RDBMS and NoSQL skills in deploying and fine-tuning databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and Elasticsearch.
• 6-10 years of experience in platform automation, applying various DevOps principles.
