Position Expectations

Qualifications
- 15+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing multiple teams and scaling large, distributed systems
- Proven experience building and maintaining high scale serving platforms in production
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, large-scale data processing, and systems infrastructure
- Experience working with cloud-native architectures and platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure, and Kubernetes
- Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong technical background in Python, C++, Java, or Go. Experience with AI and Machine Learning frameworks and SDKs is a plus
- Experience in hiring, mentoring, and scaling world-class engineering teams
Success Measures
- In the first month, you’ll have understood the surface area, the high level architecture of the new platform. You’ll have initiated one-on-ones with your team members
- By the second month, you will be deeply embedded in the recruiting and hiring process for growing the Product and Technology team in India and begun filtering resumes and interviewing candidates
- In three months, you’ll have fully on-boarded onto the team and contributed to the design of a core platform capability
- In six months, you will have taken on full responsibility for projects slated for the subsequent quarter. You’ll have started growth conversations with your team members and begun to understand their longer-term career aspirations
- In twelve months, you’ll have led the development of multiple new features and performed a full annual cycle of performance and growth conversations with your team members Additionally, you’ll have contributed to the vision for the future of the platform and helped develop a plan to achieve that vision

Principal Solutions Architect (Application modernisation)
MongoDB's Application Modernization Platform (AMP) team aims to grow the adoption of MongoDB by accelerating the rate at which legacy applications built on RDBMS can be modernized to MongoDB. The AMP team uses a combination of proprietary GenAI and deterministic tools combined with modernization techniques (methodologies) developed over numerous customer engagements to modernize legacy applications to MongoDB. This involves modernizing both the application tier by decomposing the legacy application into services and building modern services on MongoDB. Our modernization methodologies involve apply specialized tools that automate a wide variety of modernization tasks including analyzing legacy code bases to figure out how to disaggregate them, transforming legacy code (PL/SQL, T-SQL, Java, C#) to modern application frameworks on MongoDB, automated test generation, and side-by-side testing (legacy vs. modern).
We are looking for a Principal Solutions Architect to support the sales and delivery of modernization engagements. Candidates must be located in Bengaluru, Mumbai or Gurugram near an airport that will enable them to easily visit customer sites in APAC.
This role can be based remotely in Bengaluru, Mumbai or Gurugram.
Roles Responsibilities
- Ideally 8 to 11 years of related experience in a customer facing role, with 5 to 7 years of experience in pre-sales with enterprise software
- Minimum of 3 years experience with modern scripting languages (e.g. Python, Node.js, SQL) and/or popular programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Java, C#) in a professional capacity
- Experience with modern software development processes and application architectures including (not an exhaustive list): agile development, domain driven design, microservice architectures, test-driven development, event-driven architectures, operational data layers, test automation, etc
- Experience designing with scalable and highly available distributed systems in the cloud and on-prem
- Facilitate technical workshops and discovery sessions with customer architects, developers, and business leaders
- Experience installing and delivering complex demonstrations consisting of multiple applications deployed on Docker and Github Codespaces
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical and business concepts in a clear and compelling manner to technology and business leadership
- Ability to strategize with sales teams and provide recommendations on how to drive a multi-threaded account strategy, aligning other MongoDB and ecosystem resources to move towards a mutually beneficial account plan

Role Summary
We are looking for a technically strong AI / ML Developer with hands-on expertise in training and fine-tuning Small Language Models (SLMs) and RAG Solutions. The ideal candidate will drive end-to-end AI Solutions — from dataset curation and pre-processing to training, evaluation, and production deployment. You will collaborate closely with product, product engineers, and infrastructure teams to build AI solutions that are efficient, scalable, and business-aligned.
Key Responsibilities
1 Model Design & Training
- Design, train, and fine-tune Small Language Models (SLMs) using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Conduct experiments with supervised fine-tuning (SFT), reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), and instruction tuning.
- Implement efficient training pipelines leveraging distributed training (DDP, FSDP) across GPU/TPU clusters.
- Perform hyperparameter optimisation, ablation studies, and model selection based on benchmark results.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for collecting, cleaning, tokenising, and pre-processing large-scale training corpora.
2 Model Evaluation & Quality
- Define and implement evaluation frameworks including perplexity, BLEU, ROUGE, BERTScore, and task-specific benchmarks.
- Conduct red-teaming, bias analysis, and safety evaluations to ensure responsible AI deployment.
- Benchmark models against established baselines (e.g., GPT-2, Phi, Mistral) and track performance over iterations.
- Collaborate with QA teams to build regression suites for model versioning and continuous evaluation.
3 MLOps & Deployment
- Containerise and deploy models using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native ML platforms (AWS SageMaker / GCP Vertex AI / Azure ML).
- Build and maintain model registries, experiment tracking (MLflow, Comet), and reproducible training pipelines.
- Optimise inference performance through quantisation (INT8, INT4), pruning, distillation, and ONNX/TensorRT conversion.
- Monitor model drift, data drift, and performance degradation in production; implement automated retraining triggers.
4 Research & Innovation
- Stay current with state-of-the-art NLP/LLM research; prototype and validate new techniques from published literature.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, technical documentation, and model cards.
- Explore parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) methods such as LoRA, QLoRA, and Adapter layers.
- Investigate and apply mixture-of-experts (MoE), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflows as needed.
5 Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work with product managers and domain experts to translate business requirements into model objectives and KPIs.
- Communicate model capabilities, limitations, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in architecture reviews, sprint planning, and cross-functional design discussions.
Required Qualifications
1 Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Equivalent professional experience with a strong portfolio of delivered AI/ML projects will be considered.
2 Experience
- 4 – 6 years of professional experience in machine learning or NLP engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of direct, hands-on experience in training or fine-tuning language models (LLMs or SLMs).
- Demonstrable experience taking a model from dataset preparation through to production deployment.
3 Technical Skills — Core
- Programming: Python (proficient); familiarity with C++/CUDA a plus.
- Deep Learning Frameworks: PyTorch (primary), TensorFlow or JAX.
- NLP Libraries: Hugging Face Transformers, Datasets, PEFT, TRL, Accelerate.

About the Role
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on complex and challenging projects that have a direct impact on our business. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to identify business needs and develop technical solutions that drive results. Your expertise in fullstack development, data science, and financial markets will enable you to make a significant contribution to our team and help drive business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement fullstack applications that automate and streamline processes, improving efficiency and reducing risk.
- Develop and Manage backend systems primarily using Python, with additional capabilities in Java and other languages.
- Develop and manage frontend applications primarily using React and Next.js, with additional capabilities in JavaScript and other frameworks.
- Design and implement core backend services and systems to serve other applications using high performance programming languages such as java.
- Demonstrate a strong ability to understand and apply software architecture patterns, including microservices and event-driven architecture, to design robust and scalable solutions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements and goals.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including business leaders and external partners.
- Rapid response to issues as they arise, with the ability to drive quickly to the heart of an issue and propose appropriate solutions.
- Manage work and processes across multiple sites.
- Maintain discipline in coding practice while ensuring timely delivery of end solutions.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in Python is required, with familiarity in other programming languages such as Java, C++, Go, Rust, and others being advantageous.
- Strong understanding of software architecture patterns, including microservices and event-driven architecture.
- Familiarity with containerisation using Docker, and experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with frontend technologies, including React and Next.js, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with data science and analytics techniques, including machine learning and statistical modelling.
- Experience with database management systems, including relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Dash or other UI frameworks is a nice to have.

Overview: The Software Development Engineer L3 will lead architecture, design, implementation and deployment of large-scale critical and complex financial applications, owning all aspects of solutions end-to-end, through full stack software development. This position will solve unique and complex problems at a rapid pace, utilizing the latest technologies to create solutions that are highly scalable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software.
- Manage sole project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Research, create, and develop software applications to extend and improve on Inovalon’s product offering.
- Own the front-end, back-end, or full stack design and development of product features, building scale, efficiency, and differentiated customer experiences.
- Responsible to design, architect, develop, test, deploy and deliver scalable, multi-tiered software applications, systems, platforms or services using modern languages, design patterns, frameworks and technologies.
- Meet stakeholders, gather and document related information, participate design and other technical reviews, participate in strategic planning to deliver best experience for the users of the software applications, systems, platforms or services.
- Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work.
- Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success.
- On Call Policy: Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical issues, including outside standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays), ensuring timely response and resolution as per defined SLAs.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer or similar role.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment.
- Knowledge of object-oriented coding languages (e.g. C++, Java, JavaScript) and frameworks/systems (e.g. AngularJS, Git).
- Knowledge of functional programming languages.
- Experience with databases and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks (e.g. Hibernate).
- Ability to learn new languages and technologies.
- Excellent communication skills Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude.
- Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., C#, Objective C, JavaScript, or Go).
- Ability to select and implement an algorithm, use appropriate data structures to solve a problem, interpret algorithms, and contribute ideas to their development.
- Ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
- Strong software development experience delivering at scale solutions, and systems design skills.
- Demonstrated ability delivering within a DevOps delivery model from scoping requirements, requirement analysis, design, development, test, CI/CD, security implementation, and operational excellence with the ability to work cross-functionally with Product Managers, business stakeholders and other tech teams through the actual launch of the project.
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time).
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force.
- Subject to inside environmental conditions.
- Travel for this position will include less than 10% locally usually for training purposes.
