This role requires strong hands-on capabilities in core platform development, advanced scripting, integrations, ACL security, data model configuration, and deep portal engineering (Employee Center and Customer Service Management). The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of hands-on experience and demonstrates technical leadership in delivering robust, upgrade-safe ServiceNow solutions.

What you will do:

  • Technical Implementation & Delivery: Lead hands-on development and implementation across core platform applications, custom scoped apps, and portal experiences following best practices.

  • Requirement Translation: Translate functional and business requirements into scalable technical solutions across ServiceNow product lines such as ITSM, CSM, HRSD, ITOM, SPM, or custom App Engine solutions. Core Platform Engineering: Write, test, and debug complex Server-side and Client-side scripts, Script Includes, Business Rules, Flow Designer flows, Integration Hub actions, Workspace components, and UI Policies.

  • Integrations: Design, build, and maintain REST/SOAP API integrations between ServiceNow and external enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and middleware tools.

  • Portal & UI Development: Develop, customize, and maintain Employee Center and CSM Service Portals, including custom widget development, Unified Taxonomy configuration, dynamic pages,  and search optimization.

  • Quality & Best Practices: Adhere to platform standards for code quality, scoped app architecture, CMDB data integrity, CI/CD alignment, and upgrade-safe extensibility (minimizing unnecessary customizations).

  • Technical Leadership & Peer Mentorship: Conduct peer code reviews, assist in technical design discussions, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor junior developers and consultants on engineering best practices.

Core technical skills:

  • Strong hands-on proficiency in JavaScript, Server-side & Client-side scripting, HTML, CSS, Angular Provider, REST/SOAP web services, and API-led integrations.

  • In-depth understanding of Now Platform mechanics, including Data Model design, ACLs and security models, Update Sets/App Repository, Flow Designer, and IntegrationHub.

  • Experience delivering solutions across core ITSM and at least two additional product lines (e.g., CSM, HRSD, ITOM, ITAM, SPM, or App Engine).

  • Solid understanding of platform performance optimization, upgradeability, and out-of-the-box (OOTB) capability preservation.

Employee Center and CSM portal expertise:

  • Employee Center: Hands-on experience configuring Employee Center experiences, including Unified Taxonomy, Dynamic Topic Pages, Mega Menus, Curated Experiences, Quick Links, and search configuration.

  • CSM & Service Portal: Hands-on experience building portal experiences using Service Portal and Configurable Portal widgets, page creation, widget configuration, and Portal Data Lists.

  • Widget Strategy: Proficiency in widget strategy—utilizing OOTB base widgets, cloning widgets for controlled enhancements, and writing custom HTML/CSS/Client Script/Server Script widgets when required.

  • Portal Search & Navigation: Practical knowledge of portal search configuration, User Criteria, content targeting, and performance tuning for high-traffic portal pages.

Portal-specific responsibilities:

  • Architect employee self-service experiences that support multi-department discovery through taxonomy, dynamic pages, targeted content, and consolidated task visibility.

  • Architect customer and partner self-service portals that prioritize case creation, case tracking, knowledge deflection, contextual lists, and configurable portal widgets.

  • Establish standards for portal page models, widget reuse, naming conventions, content governance, search tuning, analytics, and extensibility.

  • Guide teams on trade-offs between out-of-box Employee Center capabilities and custom Service Portal development for CSM or specialized service experiences.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 7+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development, configuration, and implementation experience.

  • Proven track record as a Senior Developer or Technical Lead on enterprise ServiceNow engagements.

  • Strong experience in custom app development, third-party integrations, and Service Portal / Employee Center builds.

  • Practical knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile practices, and update set / application repository release management.

Leadership & behavioral traits

  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering clean, maintainable code.

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical solutions to peers and technical leads.
