SUMMARY:
What you will do:

Technical Implementation & Delivery: Lead hands-on development and implementation across core platform applications, custom scoped apps, and portal experiences following best practices.

Requirement Translation: Translate functional and business requirements into scalable technical solutions across ServiceNow product lines such as ITSM, CSM, HRSD, ITOM, SPM, or custom App Engine solutions. Core Platform Engineering: Write, test, and debug complex Server-side and Client-side scripts, Script Includes, Business Rules, Flow Designer flows, Integration Hub actions, Workspace components, and UI Policies.

Integrations: Design, build, and maintain REST/SOAP API integrations between ServiceNow and external enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and middleware tools.

Portal & UI Development: Develop, customize, and maintain Employee Center and CSM Service Portals, including custom widget development, Unified Taxonomy configuration, dynamic pages, and search optimization.

Quality & Best Practices: Adhere to platform standards for code quality, scoped app architecture, CMDB data integrity, CI/CD alignment, and upgrade-safe extensibility (minimizing unnecessary customizations).

Technical Leadership & Peer Mentorship: Conduct peer code reviews, assist in technical design discussions, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor junior developers and consultants on engineering best practices.
Core technical skills:

Strong hands-on proficiency in JavaScript, Server-side & Client-side scripting, HTML, CSS, Angular Provider, REST/SOAP web services, and API-led integrations.

In-depth understanding of Now Platform mechanics, including Data Model design, ACLs and security models, Update Sets/App Repository, Flow Designer, and IntegrationHub.

Experience delivering solutions across core ITSM and at least two additional product lines (e.g., CSM, HRSD, ITOM, ITAM, SPM, or App Engine).

Solid understanding of platform performance optimization, upgradeability, and out-of-the-box (OOTB) capability preservation.
Employee Center and CSM portal expertise:

Employee Center: Hands-on experience configuring Employee Center experiences, including Unified Taxonomy, Dynamic Topic Pages, Mega Menus, Curated Experiences, Quick Links, and search configuration.

CSM & Service Portal: Hands-on experience building portal experiences using Service Portal and Configurable Portal widgets, page creation, widget configuration, and Portal Data Lists.

Widget Strategy: Proficiency in widget strategy—utilizing OOTB base widgets, cloning widgets for controlled enhancements, and writing custom HTML/CSS/Client Script/Server Script widgets when required.

Portal Search & Navigation: Practical knowledge of portal search configuration, User Criteria, content targeting, and performance tuning for high-traffic portal pages.
Portal-specific responsibilities:

Architect employee self-service experiences that support multi-department discovery through taxonomy, dynamic pages, targeted content, and consolidated task visibility.

Architect customer and partner self-service portals that prioritize case creation, case tracking, knowledge deflection, contextual lists, and configurable portal widgets.

Establish standards for portal page models, widget reuse, naming conventions, content governance, search tuning, analytics, and extensibility.

Guide teams on trade-offs between out-of-box Employee Center capabilities and custom Service Portal development for CSM or specialized service experiences.
Qualifications and Skills:

7+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development, configuration, and implementation experience.

Proven track record as a Senior Developer or Technical Lead on enterprise ServiceNow engagements.

Strong experience in custom app development, third-party integrations, and Service Portal / Employee Center builds.

Practical knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile practices, and update set / application repository release management.
