Senior Functional Business Analyst – IBOR / Record Keeping System (Portia)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Functional Business Analyst to join our Investment Book of Record (IBOR) / Record Keeping System team within the investment banking domain. This role will be responsible for driving functional analysis, solution design support, stakeholder engagement, production issue analysis, and documentation for a business-critical investment accounting platform. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted subject matter expert and will work closely with business users, product owners, technology teams, quality assurance teams, operations, and client support groups to deliver robust, compliant, and scalable functional solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with business stakeholders, product owners, senior functional designers, development teams, QA teams, operations, and client support groups to understand business objectives and translate them into clear functional requirements, solution specifications, user stories, and design documentation.
• Provide functional design and analysis support for system enhancements, regulatory requirements, client-driven deliverables, production issues, and strategic initiatives related to the Record Keeping System platform.
• Conduct detailed impact assessments across business functionality, database structures, accounting calculations, batch and real-time processing flows, interfaces, and upstream/downstream application dependencies.
• Analyze complex production issues, client-reported defects, data discrepancies, processing exceptions, job cycle failures, and valuation-related concerns; support timely triage, replication in DEV environment, root cause analysis, and resolution planning.
• Act as a subject matter expert for escalated support items, major incidents, major incident calls, and business-critical production events.
• Collaborate with technology teams to ensure proposed solutions are aligned with business requirements, existing technical frameworks, operational processes, risk considerations, and architectural guidelines.
• Support end-to-end middle office investment processing workflows, including trade capture, transaction processing, position and cash management, valuation generation, reconciliations, investment accounting, and reporting.
• Use SQL and data analysis techniques to validate transaction, position, cash, valuation, and reference data; support issue investigation and confirm business outcomes.
• Facilitate effective communication across business, technology, QA, operations, and support teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements, priorities, dependencies, risks, and delivery timelines.
• Support test planning, functional validation, user acceptance testing, defect review, release readiness, implementation support, and post-release stabilization activities.
• Create and maintain high-quality functional documentation, process flows, data mapping documents, design specifications, knowledge articles, and training materials.
• Provide functional and domain knowledge sharing to team members to strengthen application understanding, reduce key-person dependency, and improve overall support capability.
• Identify opportunities to improve functional documentation, issue resolution processes, operational resilience, and stakeholder engagement practices.

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience as a Functional Business Analyst, Functional Designer or Subject Matter Expert supporting IBOR, investment accounting, record keeping, portfolio accounting, or comparable financial technology platforms.
• Strong understanding of investment banking, investment accounting, financial instruments, trade lifecycle events, position management, cash processing, valuations, reconciliations, and related business calculations.
• Hands-on knowledge of IBOR / Record Keeping System functionality, business rules, data flows, database interactions, batch processing, real-time processing, and system integration patterns.
• Willingness to provide support across local and global business hours as required for critical discussions, production incidents, and project milestones.
• Experience in portfolio management, investment accounting, financial operations, middle-office operations, or investment technology is preferred.
• Experience working in Agile delivery models and financial software development environments is preferred.
• Prior exposure to RKS, PAM, Alpha, RTC, ESP, SSCD, or comparable investment accounting and data integration platforms will be considered an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/master’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Advanced degrees and/or professional certification in business analysis, finance, accounting, or technology is desirable.
