Role:
We’re hiring a Senior Counsel - Regulatory to serve as Medici’s senior strategic voice on regulatory matters domestically and abroad, reporting directly to the General Counsel.
We are looking for an experienced attorney to shape Medici’s regulatory strategy across its product portfolio. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for keeping abreast of evolving legislation, monitoring emerging regulatory risk, supporting international expansion, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing novel ingredient and product approvals. You will bridge the gap between rapidly evolving regulations and high-stakes business growth, representing our company before regulatory authorities, including the FDA, and working closely with our Legal, R&D, Quality, and Regulatory teams.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the company’s regulatory strategy and represent the company before external stakeholders and authorities, including the FDA, to defend the company’s policies and support the expansion of our products domestically and internationally.
- Proactively monitor shifts in the regulatory landscape, providing a strategic framework for their impact and developing formal action plans to meet compliance deadlines.
- Interpret new regulations, guidance documents, and enforcement trends, translating them into strategic recommendations for the appropriate teams at the company.
- Ensure seamless communication and alignment across functional departments on all regulatory matters.
- Support marketing team on ad review and product claims substantiation.
- Support regulatory team on product packaging review.
- Serve as a partner to the General Counsel on regulatory matters arising in litigation, M&A due diligence, commercial contracts, and the like.
- Keep senior leadership informed through regular briefings on legislative and regulatory trends, proposals, and enforcement actions.
Requirements
- You have a Bachelor’s degree minimum; degrees in nutrition, food science, or other related fields are a plus.
- JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice in New York required.
- You have 5+ years of experience with FDA compliance work, with strong knowledge of food regulations, and a mix of firm and in-house experience.
- Deep knowledge of evolving political and regulatory trends in the food industry.
- Demonstrated ability to apply regulatory knowledge both strategically and operationally to expansion projects and marketed product regulatory issues.
- Expertise in independently monitoring and communicating on emerging legislation.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated grace and even temperament under pressure.
