We are seeking a skilled and curious Senior Accountant to join our dynamic Finance Department. This role is a key member of the Group Accounting team, responsible for the financial operations across all subsidiaries within the BlueCat group. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, a self-directed approach to problem-solving, and genuine interest in using modern tools, including AI, to drive process improvements.
Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting
- Minimum 4 years of experience in an Accounting role, including GL ownership and reconciliations
- CPA or similar designation preferred - 1 year post-qualified minimum, audit background desirable
- Strong, demonstrated depth in US GAAP
- Excellent Excel skills and comfort learning new systems (NetSuite experience strongly preferred)
- Proven track record of GL clean up and process improvements
- Strong curiosity and initiative, with a habit of researching independently before escalating
- Genuine interest in using AI tools to automate routine work and sharpen analysis
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines, especially around quarter- and year-end close
- Willingness to learn and contribute to the team
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close, including but not limited to fixed assets, inventory, prepaid expenses, and accruals.
- Own the processes end-to-end, including evaluating and improving current processes and procedures
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations with supporting subledger maintenance and tie-outs
- Investigate and resolve outstanding GL and subledger discrepancies, including legacy acquisition-related entries
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Review financial data for accuracy; identify problems and support day-to-day operations
- Assist in ad-hoc reporting and projects
- Support the annual audit by preparing supporting schedules and selection support, as well as any tax support requested
- Assist in identifying areas for process improvements including process automation and participate in the implementation of those improvements (including UAT)
