What You’ll Be Part Of

As Technician, Manufacturing Test Engineering, you will ensure that test equipment operates under optimum conditions and maintains performance within target. You will help ensure product quality by verifying that customer and process testing requirements are met, increasing test coverage as needed, and supporting optimization, innovation, process improvements, production lines, and new technology integration through the HARMAN Production System philosophy.

Your Team

You will work closely with Manufacturing Test Engineering, Test Engineering, Production, Quality, EHSS, and cross-functional teams involved in test equipment, testing devices, test sequences, production line support, and new model launches.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Generate procedures to carry out activities within the testing area.
• Review progress in test software for all test devices on a production line.
• Detect root causes of repetitive problems and escapes, then support corrective actions to solve the issue.
• Propose improvements to production test equipment to increase operational efficiency.
• Generate test sequences for new models and modify current sequences upon request.
• Support current plant operations with test sequences and support line installation of testing equipment.
• Conduct GR&R studies to validate equipment capacity for new devices and products.
• Receive and test the functionality of new testing devices.
• Coordinate anechoic chamber tests for new speaker designs.
• Collaborate with Test Engineering to analyze test results and recommend limit and setting adjustments.
• Program test sequences and provide technical support for testing platforms and equipment.
• Participate in and provide support for quality and EHSS systems management, objectives, targets, and programs.
• Perform other job-related activities assigned by the supervisor.

What Makes You A Strong Fit

• High school diploma or bachelor’s degree.
• Experience in acoustics.
• Experience using test instruments such as calipers, micrometers, oscilloscopes, audio analyzers, and similar tools.
• Ability to design and interpret circuits.
• Basic experience with testing equipment such as Alfamation, ICTs, programmers, JTAG, boundary scan, and EOLTs.
• Experience with LabVIEW, test sequencers, and known platforms such as TestStand and ApWin.
• Experience in escape or failure mode analysis.
• English proficiency of approximately 70%, including the ability to read technical information, write, and maintain a technical conversation.

Bonus Points if You Have

• Leadership, change-oriented collaboration, judgment, and results-driven mindset.
• Knowledge of automotive electronics fault analysis, quality systems, and standards such as VDA, field failure analysis, ISO 9001, ISO 14000, and AIAG manuals.
• Experience with 8D methodology, Core Tools, and Six Sigma.
• Knowledge of geometric tolerances and GD&T.
• Two years of experience in transducer manufacturing or a related position in the automotive industry.
• Ability to interpret drawings and technical plans.
• Orientation to results, continuous improvement, attention to detail, and ability to follow established procedures.
• Customer orientation, effective communication, and teamwork.
• Basic pneumatic knowledge, including operation of pneumatic equipment and interpretation of diagrams.
• Basic knowledge of sensors and how different types of sensors work.

Things To Know

• This role is based in a manufacturing environment and requires close collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and EHSS teams.
• This position requires focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost indicators.
• Successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen is required as a condition of employment.
• If the position requires use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle, employment may be contingent upon meeting applicable driving record requirements.
