What You’ll Be Part Of

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Analyst to be based in Shanghai, reporting to Tax Director.

The role is positioned as an experienced tax analyst role supporting tax matters for the acquired business in China, assisting with compliance coordination, preparing and analyzing tax-related information, supporting responses to tax authority inquiries, and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external advisors under the guidance of the Tax Director or senior tax team members.

This role will primarily support tax matters relating to the newly acquired business in China, assist with coordination and review of outsourced tax compliance deliverables, coordinating closely with the acquired business finance team, and assist with maintaining compliance documentation, review processes, and working files to support post-acquisition integration.

In addition, this role will support selected transfer pricing, M&A, tax controversy, and other special tax projects. This is an experienced tax analyst role suited for a tax professional who can execute defined workstreams, prepare and analyze tax-related information, support issue follow-up, and cross-functional collaboration in a multinational environment.

How You’ll Make An Impact

Support tax matters for acquired business

• Act as a day-to-day coordination contact for tax matters relating to the newly acquired business in China and support ongoing tax matters during the post-acquisition integration phase.
• Coordinate with the acquired business finance team to obtain tax-relevant data, schedules, supporting documents, and business information required for tax compliance and tax analysis.
• Support coordination and review of outsourced tax compliance and filing deliverables prepared by external tax service providers for the acquired entities.
• Support the establishment of effective governance and review mechanisms over outsourced tax compliance activities.

2. Support on TP, M&A, controversy and tax projects

• Support selected transfer pricing matters within assigned workstreams, including data collection, analysis, tracking, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
• Assist with selected tax project activities relating to M&A integration, restructuring, business changes, and other special tax projects under guidance.
• Support responses to tax authority inquiries, tax audits, risk alerts, and other controversy matters by coordinating information requests, preparing supporting files, and tracking follow-up actions.

3. Tax analysis, reporting support and continuous improvement

• Perform tax-related data analysis within assigned workstreams to identify trends, process issues, and potential tax risks, and escalate findings to the Tax Director or senior tax team members as appropriate.
• Support continuous improvement of tax processes, documentation standards, and working practices within the China tax team as part of assigned responsibilities.
• Support process improvement, automation, digitalization, and efficiency initiatives in tax workflows as needed.

  • Solid knowledge of PRC tax rules and practices, with exposure to corporate tax, transfer pricing, tax audits or tax controversy matters.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to support multiple workstreams in parallel.
  • Good communication and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across finance teams, advisors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (such as SAP) and digital tools would be a plus.
• Soft skills:

  • Project coordination and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
• We see AI as an important part of how work gets done. While tools may vary, a baseline familiarity with using AI to support efficiency, problem-solving, and quality is expected.

Bonus Points if You Have

• Experience coordinating with external tax advisors or supporting outsourced tax compliance work.
• Experience assisting with post-acquisition integration, selected tax projects, restructuring, or tax authority inquiries would be an advantage.
• Experience supporting process transformation, automation, or tax control framework enhancement.
• Experience in working within a matrix organization and interacting with regional/global tax and finance teams.
