Structural Steel Field Surveyor – MD/VA

Position Summary
Seeking a field surveyor with structural steel experience to support construction projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This position involves site layout, measurements, alignment checks, and field support during steel installation. Regular travel to active job sites is required.
Responsibilities
Collect and verify field measurements using surveying equipment.
Establish control lines, column locations, and anchor rod positions.
Check elevations, embed alignment, plumbness, and structural positioning.
Prepare and maintain as-built drawings and field documentation.
Support structural steel erection by verifying proper placement and alignment.
Assist with installation of structural and miscellaneous steel, including stairs and shafts.
Survey slopes, grades, and layouts for structural and miscellaneous metals.
Coordinate with steel crews and other trades to maintain accurate installation.
Use Trimble, Bluebeam, CAD, and Microsoft Office for field and project tasks.
Follow site safety requirements and maintain safe work practices.
Requirements
3+ years of structural steel erection or field surveying experience.
Experience with layout and surveying for structural or miscellaneous metals.
Proficiency with a total station or similar surveying equipment.
Working knowledge of AISC standards related to building alignment and orientation.
Strong attention to measurements, details, and accuracy.
Ability to communicate effectively with field crews and other trades.
Willingness to travel regularly throughout Maryland, Virginia, and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Comfortable working at heights, including aerial lifts and elevated steel floors.
Additional Details

Primarily field-based, with occasional office/shop visits for training and meetings.
